Excellent unboxing video for old grandpas like me who purchased a red Mario unit for my grandson. I'm sure he will go absolutely bonkers over this unit. Got him some primo games so he can play and challenge his parents right away later Xmas day, that is if he lets anyone touch it. :-) He's more lenient nowadays as he's 11. Anyway, the video, compared to other videos on the Red unboxing versions was excellent. Details like don't forget the expanded memory slot and actually activating that card from your local store and going through the initial startup, well, most presenters of the same unit didn't think to show this or even go that extra distance and do an install, no, they are of the minimal category, fanboys yes, but short on value added information that would be useful for clueless grandpas and probably dazed and confused parents come holiday time. They live about 2,000 miles away from our north central midwest timezone. Again that's why your video presentation work is excellent, you know to think like what does the consumer actually need to know for a seamless experience! Love that forethought, most (or many) presenters are stuck into videos with all the requisite buzzwords and that's about it. More noise: Back in the day I went through all this learning curve when we jumped into the Amiga 1000 world, hook, line, and sinker. Even with inflation and all including software, the Amiga was way way more expensive than today's whole switch ecosphere, IMO. But, when you're hooked you're hooked. I'm sure my wife back in the day was probably worried that her hubby was infected by some dangerously strange computer bug. But in very little time all 4 of us were hooked! :-)
Have three actually. The original switch, scarlet and violet oled, and the lite. Like the look of the Mario version and will be adding it to the collection.
I still prefer the Tears of the Kingdom version of the Switch OLED but the Mario Red Edition is growing on me and I’ll be getting it on Monday, I’m looking forward to it.
Rubbish, the graphic is updated from the 8-bit counterpart. The coin layout is 5/7/7 it's a literal call back. The fact that you have to go inside the dock to see it against the black interior makes it even more clever. Thanks for posting the unboxing though. I still liked the video. 😊
I'm torn; I was disappointed by the low-key theming of this console, BUT, as she feels the same, at least it's a version Lady Laci isn't in any hurry to add to our collection. Phew!
To answer your question about what Switch I have. I have them all. Well all the ones released in North America since it’s debut. It’s now over 40 with all the box variants.
I don't blame you for being a little underwhelmed. If I didn't have an oled, I probably would have bought this. Otherwise, you can buy red joycons, a skin for your dock, and you're most of the way there. 🤷♂️

I just traded in my switch lite for the oled. My boyfriend uses the OG switch since he mainly plays on the TV and I have the oled because I mainly play in handheld. I wanted to bigger, better screen. Plus the trade in value got me about $80 off the oled so I only paid about $230 for the oled.
It should either be red and green or have Luigi included on it somehow or it should be red and brown. In my opinion the original NES sprite colors are the best still today.
I think I actually like this version better. It just looks so clean and sharp. I wanted the Zelda version, as I love the game. But can only get em online anymore and you don’t know what you’re gonna get. Also like that I’m not going to have to worry about wearing off painted on decals with normal use…….like I am with my Splatoon model.
I have the regular switch since 2017 i upgrade to the white switch oled in March 2023 after getting at least 120,000 ticket from Dave and Busters Arcade
I really like the artwork/red color on that console. I was expecting it to include Mario Odyssey but only a download code (which they put in small letters and hope you don't notice or care by the time you get it home and are too tired to drive back to the store to return it) 🙄

@@Owazrim if you’re a true fan you’d buy all the special edition Nintendo Switches, I know I would if I could afford it lol, I personally prefer the TOTK version of the Switch but this Red Mario edition is growing on me.
It is a little lazy as a special edition, which is a bit of a shame considering the detail that has went into other specials. I have an original "Stormtrooper" white OLED, and a blue lite 👍
I got this. Instead of white they gave me red. I like them both. But this one is receiving a lot of hate. But sexy things do. So thats just life. This one for ALL the pretty people. Lol jk
I mean no harm for so many are saying this Is uncalled for and there is absolutely no Red OLED. May not be for everyone but the is a selection in the community where this switch fits perfectly. I'm just saying once you start a rumor online be careful because others take it too far. And I've seen standard switches way worse than this. Oh who am I kidding, this one is actually amazing 😍! A little late yes. But still great.
Well believe they are for nothing, believe that they are BORING. So it's 5 - 6 months later, I went to 10 stores. I believed online was right.... well you are VERY WRONG. The ten stores I went to, had NONE. The only time things are sold out is because the creator came super close to "PERFECT". The RED OLED is HARD TO FIND @ The store? Why? And don't say scalpers dude because it doesn't matter who's buying them. There aren't any.
Because it’s a clean, sharp looking system. Got lucky and found a few on sale at that, actually in store and not online. So I know I got a brand new American Mario switch oled for $299.00. Actually kinda like it better than my splatoon 3 model. It really is a clean looking version.
See this reminds me of the Super Mario New 3DS XL, just lime green no decor. I bought it without even realizing it was a special edition. Kinda defeats the purpose of a special edition

This may sound harsh, just legit feedback, not attacking: Your unboxing video was only 2 minutes long, if I see that as a viewer I'm probably going to pass it up as that seems really short You're unboxing video was in portrait in that landscape mode, meaning that it's too long for shorts even though it's formatted for such, and it's formatted incorrectly for a traditional long-form video. Your thumbnails could definitely use some work You have no video description whatsoever, meaning that to the algorithm and search engines your video does not exist beyond the title Timing is important, you released your video a week after it shipped. I was amazed that mine did as well releasing a day after this version shipped. I figured it would be DOA, but it's actually done surprisingly well While not as important as they used to be, I would still fill out the keywords in your videos Overall channel size matters. Again this is not me casting shade but in a larger scheme of things you have a few hundred subscribers, I've close to 25,000. That speaks nothing to the quality of content, but my views from simply my subscribers exceed your overall channel subscribers if that makes sense. There's definitely potential here, you're just getting started, keep at it and keep improving your craft. Make sure that you're filling out your descriptions, if it's over a minute long have it be landscaping up portrait mode, and work on your thumbnails.
@@RoXolid I appreciate the feed back one thing though I don’t think that the item being out for a week matters so much I see small tube channels making content in which they got a PS5 3 years later and still got like 20k plus views I do have a lot to improve on I’m new to this happy that a couple of my vids did well but need much improvement for sure
I will tell you my PlayStation 5 launch videos and unboxing videos I don't even think have cleared 2,000 views. And I did those the day it came out. Sometimes you just need to be lucky with how the algorithm picks up your video. Getting something out the day of is definitely better than a week or two later. If you are a few years removed then you also have potential simply because there's not as many people competing for the same eyeballs on that sort of content if that makes sense. For example, my original switch unboxing video from 2017 has done terribly. I did a video 6 months later asking if it was still worthwhile six months later, that's one of the best performing videos I've ever done.

Nice presentation. However, this is not solid red. It’s mix red and orange. I like more the solid red Mario odyssey back in 2017. It was more natural and really reflected Mario character.
I would not entirely go based off of what you are seeing in this video, in natural light, in person, not through the lens of a camera or through RU-vid compression this is a pretty red red
@@RoXolid The fact that it was another all red "mario" switch that barely resembles anything related to the franchise on the box should have told you everything you need to know. This is a lazy attempt at a special edition, no purchase was needed.
My biggest problem with this package is that there is no game in it. I mean this is a special edition, a Mario-designed console, and there is no actual game in the box (doesn't have to a physical edition, at least a download code would be nice). That would be a great beginner package because all thing considered, the Switch is the cheapest console on the market, but the games for it a rarely on a sale, especially the first party ones.
Just bought my first Switch Mario Oled today, it is being shipped to me. Now to find games to get, any recommendations? Never had a Nintendo system, always had a PlayStation and liked Crash Bandicoot games.

No, there are some games like Zelda for example that have DLC for extra stories and levels. But you can still play the game straight through without and it will take a very very long time. Absolute excellent game Zelda BOTW. Mario kart 8 has the booster course extras, which is a bunch of extra tracks. They are free if you get the Nintendo online + expansion. Definitely recommend you pay the $50 annual for that, it includes a WEALTH of free games. Or $80 for the family + expansion if you have more than one person playing on your switch at home.
I've just sold my Xbox series X so i could buy a Nintendo switch some might think I'm mad but after having a play of a friend's switch i really liked it so wanted one and now i have one not this model but a brand new original model and i love it
That's interesting, I don't know that many others have gone that way. Most will go the other way where they will sell a switch to get an Xbox. But I will tell you I personally have not turned on my series S in 4 months
I have an OLED, i had been waiting for the rumored switch pro since late 2017 and just couldn't wait any longer. I panic bought the OLED in 2021 when the chip shortage was happening.
i just bought one directly from nintendo. it really looks great. i love the red color. i have a non oled switch and after thinking a long time i decided to get that oled because of the bigger and better screen and the nice color with mario. i know the next nintendo console will come out in the next year but this did not stop me. im sure they will keep make games and support the switch for a few years. considering my switch is like 6 years old , having a new one with a new battery is not a bad thing.
I like the design. As someone who doesnt have an oled version yet, i prefer this one as its minimalist and especially the color is red. Hell if i do like more of something ill choose splatoon.
i had switch lite ( coral pink with pokemon thumb caps)its over a one year now so i wanna get this red one since it will be my birthday and xmas gift to myself so im buying one on november and i hate was its on a friday afternoon
It’s really cool for first time switch buyers. For me, I wish Nintendo would have done the switch special edition like how they did with the 3ds. Man I would have loved to own a super famicom themed or a GameCube, or a gba themed switch. Even just the joycons in those styles would have been awesome!
All special editions of the switch are boring in my opinion.. they look pretty uninspired and without love... back in the day nintendo had more love for their special edition console variants !
Yeah, there only two or three that really are kinda interesting, but the fact than the box of the special edition it's the most "special" thing of they it's kinda sad, and the console itself it's very similar than a regular switch
Nintendo planned this at a strategic time. Sure they will get some pre orders, but Holiday season is their goal. That’s starting to happen as early as the end of October, where people are preparing for Christmas and the new year. New console theme, new Mario game. I see these being a hot item for bundles or even deals as we get closer to December. That brings me to why they needed to keep it simple, to keep bringing in newer audiences to Nintendo & those that haven’t bought the Switch yet. The cleaner design will sell to a larger range of consumers, rather than blasting it with graphics or wacky colors. In my opinion this is the best OLED they’ve done and the best Switch in quite some time period. However I probably won’t upgrade, but I may buy one to keep in the box as we may not see many more console releases from Nintendo until the next generation. I have way too many games invested digitally for it to not be backwards compatible….
@@sonyx5332 You're talking about different console models, not special editions. There has never been a special edition with a hardware upgrade. Not that I know.
@@lucasrinaldi9909 well yeah, you're right, those are different console models and many times an upgrade too, I think I would consider a different console model as one, just like I would consider a game that includes more extra content such as playable characters, cars, story missions and etc a special edition game compared to the launch edition. I for example own a few dev kit consoles which I consider them special editions since they tend to have more memory and/or more stuff than the launch edition, hardware wise and software wise sometimes too. One example is a PS Vita Dev Kit which includes an HDMI port (makes it similar to a Nintendo Switch but without needing the dock or the older PSP that you were able to connect to the TV) that the launch edition didn't include. Another one would be a launch Backwards Compatible PS3 with a PS3 Slim GPU installed (officially done by SONY technicians or a few electronics technicians/hardware modders with the hardware and knowledge) that not many people even know about or have.
That dock should’ve had a white M on the front. The joycons should have a white M on the left and that Mario silhouette on the right. Could’ve had many silhouettes on the back of the console. 🤷♂️ Still think the Zelda and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet are way more exciting. But this has a minimal classy approach I guess.
It's definitely a boring release, but I don't mind the nice red color at all. It wasn't anymore expensive than the base white oled model at the time that I bought it. I seen someone try to sell it for $600 online 😂. Nintendo never said it was limited edition, but someone out here will buy it.
I 'm deciding on whether to get an OLED Mario Red - Japanese version. The Japanese version seems to sell for cheaper on average everywhere I see here compared to the US version. Is there any major difference with the US version? Are all the instructions and language on the box just in Japanese only? I know all Nintendo Switch's are region free so that you should be able to play any game version here in the US. I also assume, all my inquiries go for the European version of the Switch as well.
There's no real difference amongst the different variants to be honest with you besides if you go with an OLED versus a standard model. I don't even think you can get the standard models anymore it's been that long unless you're buying second hand. All Nintendo switch consoles or region free so you can play a Japanese system using US games or vice versa. There have been times when I have not been able to get my hands on US copy of a game that I've gotten the Japanese version and it has the English language on the cartridge as well.
@@RoXolid Thanks for the feedback. That's good to know. I see various sellers on Walmart's sight selling a JP or Euro version of the OLED for cheaper and more often than not, they bundle it with a game or additional accessories. Only question is, how reliable are these sellers I guess.
its just a red switch during lock down i got the limted edition pokemon lets go for my kids they love it still play it all time and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm well it looks limeted edtion this is just a red switch
@@RoXolidI do love the new OLED screen is similar to my Samsung Galaxy phones 📱 plus I want to retired my old original Nintendo Switch with something brand new for myself.
If you play your Switch docked then it makes sense for you to wait until the next generation but for someone like me who’s getting a Switch for the first time then the OLED makes more sense for me.
I stopped spending money on their products a while back. You get very little for what you actually pay for. Most of this can be now emulated on other handhelds.
