I like that this is a big stakes story where potentially the whole world is in danger but it focuses on one protagonist, who isn't the one who will fight the monsters or challenge the government. Just a dude and his dad trying to survive.

"I dropped the shotgun twice, thank god I had remembered to turn on the safety before, I would have blown one of us apart other..." Alright, so the writer of this one obviously watches too much TV. With most firearms that are even remotely modern, hell,even with a lot of guns made 100+ years ago it is extremely rare and difficult to cause an accidental discharge just by simply dropping the damn thing. That idea is mostly Hollywood dramatic effect. Of course I wouldn't recommend tempting fate by playing hot potato with a loaded Mac-11, but still, the character in this story would have been 200% more likely to accidentally blow his own foot off while still holding the gun, than he would by dropping it 20 times in a row back-to-back on solid concrete.

Well, for those of you who have followed my ravings about figuring out the beasts origins, I have a sad conclusion, it’s a simple case of military experiment on the loose, it doesn’t fit the MO to be aliens, it cannot be a wild creature that has just re emerged, as it shows high levels of intelligence, including the knowledge required to slash a vehicles tires, the main character flat out drop kicks the idea it has any supernatural origin, so, all we are left with, that makes any sense, is a military experiment.

The engine piston? There is no way to fix that. You have to order those parts online and tear the whole engine apart to replace that. At that point it is cheaper just to buy a used engine. Probably it was just a blown fuse and the dad just try to sound cool.

Wow! There are 3 coincidences here. While I was listening to this story, I was playing a game(Marvel Contest Of Champions), and when he said the word apocalypse, I was using the X-Men character Apocolyps in a match. He also mentioned video games, which I was also playing. The third coincedence was when he mentioned the pig Mac. Well, guess what? My name happens to be Mac. Another story narrated by this man mentioned January 25. That is my birth date. The year mentioned was 1980. I was born in 1983. Close enough lol.

I’m trying to identify the monster, the family traveled over 30 miles away, and it caught them, not only that, but was fast enough to move around and take out multiple targets within short periods of time, at relatively long distances... it moves around during the day, and the night, doesn’t enter buildings....
