When I first started with sublimation, all I used was laser copy paper. It works fine but in my honest opinion, sublimation paper will produce higher quality colors because it can retain more ink. By all means if you are just starting out, I highly recommend starting with the laser copy paper.

I was doing sublimation in 1999 and 2000 with a Ricoh color laser copier/printer/scanner printed 8.5x11, 11x17 and 13x19 prints on regular copy paper and doing the mirrored image for t-shirts, mugs and mouse pads. The ink these days is remarkably better and more cost effective. Laser toner is extremely expensive. Not only do you have to use the individual toner cartridges, but some color laser printers have only one drum which is expensive, but the newer color lasers like mine now (Brother) comes with a drum for each color then you purchase the toner for each. Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. Also, you have to replace a waste container as well. You can't just empty the container. It's enclosed. But, with all that said, I believe the sublimation printers and inks have come a LONG way from 20+ years ago! Thank you for the info and all your input for us crafters! Rebe aka Nana 🤗😁

We just purchased an EPSON ET16600 (EcoTank) for sublimation. I don't use the color laser anymore for that. It's too expensive for ink. I love the liquid sublimation ink especially the ecotank refills! Awesome 👌👏👍😍

I did my first tumbler today with copy paper and I must say...WOW!!! The colors are much brighter with the copy paper.

So i use ink jet copy paper on tumblers and it works great. I have even used the sub markers on the ink jet paper and it worked so well.

link not for sub printer. epson f170 and f570 are both sublimation printers. not found on amazon. all american printing company ships anywhere in usa.

I just did this with the Pen and Ink Bright White paper (Sawgrass printer), 400 degrees for 35 seconds on a 100% poly shirt and my colors are popping way more than that. In fact, they look brighter than the image using A-Sub paper.

I have found that sub paper does better and more noticable the more detailed. 100% cotton will wash out. 50/50 blend will fade and look vintage. I think there is a big difference between plain cheap copy papy and laser copy paper. Laser is more expensive, still cheaper than sub paper, you should check both kinds of copy paper and really check designs with a lot of detail, the more detail in your designs the more difference you see. If you are doing some big single word in black they may all look the same.

This has been going on forever. I did it year ago on mug when I didn’t know I needed sub paper with sub ink. I thought I only needed ink. It works though so that’s all I use is regular paper and sub ink. It doesn’t wash out easily. It’s the same as if you used sub paper

Y'all, I've already gone through 500+ sheets of 20 lb LASER copy paper and used it on T-shirts, MUGS in my Mugpress, anything I can put my Mini Press or Heat Press on! And I've printed sheets MONTHS ago and they come out crisp and vibrant today!

Laser paper is better than copy paper and still cheaper you might only get 250 sheets but quality of print brighter than copy paper.

I have searched and searched and cannot find an answer to my question. I do not want to make t-shirts or mugs or anything. All I want to know is if I have purchased a sublimation image (digital) can I print it on regular card or paper to make a card, for example? All this with regular printer and ink.

I purchased some sublimation prints off of different shops on Etsy, I bleached a couple of them after I pressed them and the images totally vanished. I wondered if maybe the shop had used different ink or paper then what was recommended. This video makes me really think that using copy paper may be why they disappeared. I’m just learning so it could’ve been something I was doing but some of the others that I did came out fine.

Wondering if you’d mind summing up very briefly the difference between sublimation & infusible ink (sheets & markers)? Does infusible ink work only with laser paper & polyester for fabric projects / other blanks, or can you use copy paper with all blanks &/or cotton whether sheets or markers? Thank you so much!

you can sublimate photos! In all those colors! whereas, infusible ink, you have to use single colors at a time. No weeding when you sublimate!

The reason the first two are different after you add the second two, is that you reheated the shirt. Reheating sublimatiin makes it fade.

I'll stick with sublimation paper I have watched many videos that compare copy paper to sub and its always much duller and washed out looking even on 100% poly. I don't like the outcome of doing it in copy paper

I’m just starting out with sublimation and when I printed my designs the Teals/Greens were coming out blue, I’m using an ET 2400 and changed my settings and still the colors are off… Do I need an ICC Profile?

the thinner the paper, the better the results. Thick paper absorbs too much ink then when you hit it with the heat...the image is horrible.

I can't do sublimation, because I have a Cannon printer and can' t afford a Epson. I think it's pretty mean that you can only do sublimation on other printers.

Actually the right printer can be converted to sublimation but cannons are good I have a cannon and sublimation printer and my cannon is still very helpful 😊

Siser EasySubli Heat Transfer is a lined, printable heat transfer material that can only be printed onto using a sublimation printer and sublimation inks. It can be used with various brand sublimation printers and sublimation inks.

Are you referring to the Makers Gonna Sublimate workbook? If so, the workbook is only available in digital copy and you can download it even if you're not in the US. My mum did sublimation when I was a kid.. She used heat setting crayons making T-shirts for the different army corps in NZ for people who were friends of our family in the 80’s…. Why are all the crafters on youtube from the south?? I’m guessing that’s a southern accent..

Well Somebody Answer This.. I Have A Regular Degular HP Printer With Some Regular Walmart Printer Copy Paper.. You Telling Me I Can Just Print Out A Design And Sublimate It On A Shirt Or Fabric ..
