Lots of people have asked. We got sick from a restaurant in Port Fairy. The leftover pizza was refrigerated overnight and then spent a couple hours in a cooler (eski) before we ate it. Hope everyone had a good day 😄

Sorry - it's crap when you get food poisoning from a commercial establishment, especially on holiday when you can't report them because you've moved on. You are still one of the best and friendliest VLogs I've come across and you achieve that partly by being nice people. Thanks Mates.

I have coeliac disease so I can’t consume any gluten, eating out is the trickiest thing to do and I have been poisoned numerous times the result is like food poisoning and hits me hard for a week, so it’s horrible when travelling. I am so sorry you both got ill and it shouldn’t have happened especially on a long weekend like Easter, it makes me wonder what their hygiene standards or what food control system was in place? 😮

If you're the type of person who can't accept that eating out comes with inherent risk, and feels compelled to "REPORT!!!" it, the internet is available. My guess is that these guys would prefer to get on with their lives.
@jichaelmackson1958
@jichaelmackson1958 11 месяцев назад
@@derekgleeson1353 You shouldn't be at risk of getting food poisoning when eating out at all. Any professional establishment if following food laws will never poison anyone. In the fifties, My Uncle was the chief of the South East S.A. Electricity Grid. His workers were installing a new power pole in the main street. Before they knew it, the pole disappeared. The whole area is honeycombed with caves and sink holes etc etc.. Mount Gambier comprises several cones the main ones being the Valley Lake and The Blue Lake named because each year it turns blue overnight and for some months before returning to grayish. Many Cave divers died in the area over the years. As you head east, Victoria (west of Melbourne) is one gigantic (extinct) volcanic plain. The second biggest on Earth. ps. i'm glad you're better now and thanks for your video.

Victoria, and most of Australia, is going through a different weather pattern than usual. We are entering a FOURTH year of very rainy weather. Most of this is caused by three negative weather systems from the South Pacific Ocean Dipole, the Indian Ocean Dipole and the Southern Ocean converging. That's why Oz has had so much rain and flooding and why it is looking green straight after summer.(When this weather is in the positive mode we get droughts.) Victoria has some very beautiful mountain ranges which are the tail end of the Great Dividing Range which runs down the eastern side of Oz .In these areas are the green and lush temperate rainforests with lots of rivers and waterfalls .Usually the Easter break is a time when many people holiday and it is sunny and warm in Victoria. That warmth goes into May. Usually!

A "big thing" to add to your list... on the Pacific Highway just north of Lake Munmorah (which is north of Sydney) is a big prawn (shrimp to Americans). There was a service station there and it had been renovated and they had just installed the big prawn when a bush fire burnt down the service station but left the big prawn unhurt. The service station was never rebuilt so the big prawn is just there by itself. Alone... all alone... 😪

that ant looked like a bull ant (or inch ant for obvious reasons) and while the jaws are huge its actually the stinger that is to worry. They have actually caused some people (who were allergic) to die from them. I got stung once while messing around with a nest and my finger was so swollen and throbbing. Also i HIGHLY reccomend if your able to get up to Cairns in far north queensland (FNQ) to stay at the canopy tree houses, they are pricey but honestly NOTHING compairs to staying there

I hope you enjoy the Grampian as I grew up 20 minutes from Halls Gap, this is an undiscovered area even for locals let alone international visitors. The reason Victoria is so green at the moment is that it's been such a wet summer. Normally you can get some good weather over Easter but this year it wasn't great to say the least. Next time you are looking for a drink try the Bundaberg Ginger Beer, a truly great Australian drink and nonalcoholic (add Gin if you wish).

7:06 "FAULTY TOWERS"!!! Our favourite place when in Port Fairy. During a stay in 1989 we had the entire upper floor to ourselves. It is so "popular" with other travellers, who are staying in the modern Motel section, as the bluestone walls don't allow TV waves to enter the rooms, cutting off that essential item for some. A friend of mine from Germany once asked me what crimes I was hiding from him for staying in the old section. When pointing out, that I had to book well ahead organising that basic room, he offered to drive through the night for getting back to Melbourne in comfort. Some people are having no sense for "living Heritage" ...

Hope you got some warmer clothes, you'll need them in VIC and NSW over the next few weeks/months, Winter hasn't started yet but it's late Autumn, so it'll be cooling down. BTW to get the lush green areas you rainy weather. You ducked under the great dividing range into the green belt (anything east of the great dividing range is green, west of the range is dry), Hope you get to see some of the mountains, but also see the lakes, Eastern Victoria and Central cost of NSW have some really beautiful lakes, Sunshine Coast (QLD) has everglades. The mountains of NSW and VIC get snow and have really great ski fields, but it's a bit early in the year for that, so you might have to backtrack for that, or when you come back after your trip home (if it''s not too late in the year)

It's so cool seeing my country through your eyes - the things that you notice and that stick out to you that is just like, "yeah, that's normal!" to me 😁 Also really cool that you are actually crossing so much of the country and seeing so much of the variation in our country. We have a LOT of different kinds of scenery, climates, mountains, deserts, tropical areas - everything. Also the "big" spiders are mostly fine. They just hang out and eat other bugs. If you see a smallish spindly spider with a white tip on its body or a small but fatty black spider with a red stripe, no touchy 😁 you got this! Enjoy the hiking!

Great video! (Except for being sick!) You’ll have to come back to SA in warmer weather and got to the Naracoorte swimming lake and Mt.Schank’s Little Blue Lake 🩵 I’m in Adelaide and would love to host you both next time you’re passing through!

Closing in on my favorite Australian city...Melbourne! Great multi-cultural food city. You must seek out Yang's fried soup dumplings. They are from Shanghai, so good. Hawker Chans opened there too. They are from Singapore and was one of the cheapest Michelin star places in Singapore.

Hey kids…Hope you get well soon. If you are heading back to the coast and the Great Ocean Road keep your eye out for the Pole House at Fairhaven. If you decide to come to Melbourne via the Western Highway - a stop at Seppelts winery at Great Western to go through the wine cellars and drives is a must! Happy trails👍

Thanks for the last two bids which I really enjoyed. Grew up in and around Adelaide and spent time near Robe. Now in Far North Queensland. Hope you enjoy the Grampians and see koala in the wild. Great hiking and rock climbing opportunities.

Traveling with sickness is always a battle, well done for toughing it out! Halls Gap is wonderful, just be careful driving around there at night as the wildlife seem to come out more. April in Victoria is usually the month when the weather shifts from mild to cold, so wear something warm! There is a cold front pushing through currently. But rest up and enjoy the scenery around The Grampians!

The Blue lake in Mount Gambier is a natural springwater lake inside a Volcano. Its the drinking supply for the region and its amazing natural water to bath in and drink etc. But its a shame you missed the Valley Lake. Its the twin volcano that has been turned into a recreational lake (for water skiing) and a massive recreational reserve. With barbecue areas, adventure areas etc There is a wildlife park there too with ton of native animals bounding (or hiding) around, like Kangaroos, Wallaby's, Echidnas and tons of bird life. And its all free all year round. Head back and see it some time.

I was keeping an eye out for you guys in Mt Gambier. It's a shame you didn't have the time to explore the area in a little more depth. The Grampians are beautiful. Enjoy.

I hope the weather fine up soon as there is more rain on the way. Adelaide had a down poor and a bit of a thunderstorm Tuesday night. It has been a very weird autumn though. Like I say it is the crossing over the season from summer to winter.

Have you passed Apollo Bay yet? Triplet Falls are just an hour north of the Bay. Cascading at the moment, but the 1hr walk includes the rain forest. Home of Euc. Regnans. (Mountain Ash) Second only to the Sequoia in height but still the worlds tallest flowering plant. And Fish and Chips from the Fishers Co-op bu the jetty, or a scallop pie from a pie shpo on the main drag. Delicious.
