The new generation Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV looks set to keep the Triple Diamond brand well ahead of the pack, continuing the model’s long standing, top selling SUV in segment status. Mitsubishi has extended the electric range of the PHEV out to 84km through improvements to both the front and rear electric motors and an enhanced and larger battery, all of which contributes to a very composed and assured drive experience.
Outlander PHEV now offers seating for five or seven, with flat folding seat capability to give a cavernous boot space when only five seats are required. Front seats have also seen an upgrade with heating, 8-way adjustment and memory positioning for both driver and passenger. The PHEV’s conventional 2.4-litre petrol engine and fuel tank have also seen significant upgrades, increasing the combined EV and ICE range to around 750kms - no range anxiety here! - with a Mitsubishi-posted fuel consumption figure of 1.6 litres per 100km.
