You spend so much time in Weatherspoons that you were also in A Walk on the wild side's video last week. This year, have you considered venturing a little further from town? Some nice eateries in the villages of Newholm, Sandsend etc...show some more of true, local businesses🙏🏽
Simon that was spot on fish and chips x2 and 4x glasses of vino calapso for under twenty quid. Tell Mrs M to cheer up. Her fault for ordering a kids portion 😂
Brilliant banter , When Mrs F was still alive we used to go into spoons and it was 2 meals for a fiver and 90p a pint lol . , vino collapso i love that . I went into a local well established indie wine shop and i said to the owner " what bottle of vino collapso can you recommend for tonight " she started laughing ... You should get T-shirts printed with that printed on and sell um ..
Thought I’d missed this video - I was sat opposite, and said hello on Baxtergate the other day. Cant beat spoons when it’s not rammed, but it’ll soon be too busy again.
Mrs spends ages banging on about what she doesn't want to eat, what she can't have and how she wants to cut back on salt, carbs blah blah blah... She then orders small fish and chips then whines about the size of the portion and how it wasn't fresh from Whitby (presumably caught that very morning and brought to the pub straight from the harbour). It looked very reasonable to me, especially given the price, including 2 medium glasses of wine which could easily cost £8 upwards in most pubs. What exactly does she want for that sort of money? The Trenchers fish and chips, regular, was £16.50 per person on its own which is only about £3 less than their entire pub meal with drinks. Truly biizarre. A glass (of pinot) half full sort of person...
Sorry but have to agree with Mrs M, those fish n chips at Witherspoons looked dreadful & if you only paid £19 odd, you got what you deserved 😢! Get your hands in your wallet!!!!!!!! PS Mrs H here would refuse point blank to me taking her in there!!!!😂😂😂
1 year 5 months on on the Tuber Cnannel, you are still going strong. Its not just the food but also the human interaction and the banter you provide, that makes your channel great.
Hi Simon, in comparison to Mrs M's Plate your Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas looked the better of the two. I've had Pub Fish & Chips & well understand Mrs M's disappointment as they're never going to be like those of a Fish Restaurant. At least the Wine was nice Pinot Gricio is a favourite of mine too! Thank you for sharing, take care chin, chin.
Haha, so funny, I won’t let my wife have fish n chips from there, 😂love the banter, although if you had a cup f tea with that it wouldn’t have been such a giggle, vino collapso !, 44years married looking good 👍
Simon& Mrs M, the expression " cheap as chips " is a load of bovine waste material " And I will state, hand on wallet that the only place to go for proper old-fashioned fish&chips is your local chippy ❤❤ ( OK you have several local chippies to choose from, but you get the picture 😊) And as Mrs Sloecombe says " I am unanimous in this " 44yrs married I salute you both, and if needed a grand excuse to raise a flagon or two ✌ 😊❤ Cheers & Tally ho Allan&Family
Hey Hey Simon Well, it's the spoons. It's not fine dining ,but for the price You get what you pay for. It was lovely to see Mrs M, Shame that her meal wasn't to her taste . Us guys can rough it, ladies such as Carols breeding are a bit more refined. 😂😂 Chin ,chin 🫡
FUNNY I was in W and their fish and chips prices have gone up to nearly 12 from 9 this due to new inflation price rises. SO , you got a really good deal. Fish and chip in shop is now about 13-15 depending on where you go.
Oh Simon and Mrs M well done on your long marriage you are both so funny I thought Mrs M was going to give you a hug when she changed position on her seat lol You really do compliment each other and have funny giggles love to you both xx
Hi Just watched your latest video in the wethers having fish and chips upstairs just out of curiosity I dont think I have ever seen you do a review of Papas fish and chip shop, we have been to Whitby and have had decent fish and chips from there and not paid too much mind you we did have it as a takeaway as the weather was really nice and it was just to nice to sit inside although we did have those beady eyed seagulls eyeing up our meal 😂😂, but luckily we got away with they didn't mug us 😂 I would like to know what you think of papas if you haven't done a review maybe you could dona review of that one as we haven't seen what the restaurant side looks like Anyway all the best for your future videos
Simon, I tried the fish and chips at the angel last October, your wife is correct, the cod is frozen, ate a couple of bites, chips are always descent at spoons, left in a rush to catch bus to Scarborough, stop at fusco fnc , got a large haddock, seconds to bus, wolfed down the whole fish before we got to robin hood bay, off the charts perfec😅t,you can tell the difference with the spoon fish, it went in rubbish bin, been to a dozen fnchips in whitby over the years, beento trenches, magpie, etc, fusco is off the charts,it's up there, been to many spoons in britain, they. Are inconsistent, spoon s is very good value, the ones that were former banks or theaters ,like the pavilion in llandudno or Edinburgh are treat just to sip a pint and looking at the ornate decor, the best breakfast at spoons, oban Scotland, worst slough near Heathrow, there are many hidden off the track fish chips, such as the ones you rated, one of the best. Fishnchips I had was , infact last october in dawlish, home of the black swan, in a alley way, locals very popular, 4 pds small haddock 🎉about equal to large whitby standard, cook to perfection , melted in mouth, forgot name, ate in Park where there was a black swan and family, spoons is godsend for the Brits, descent value, where can you a pint for 1.75 anymore, will be in whitby in April, hope to cross paths, I will buy 😊you a pint at the angel, a ruddles, ruddles is not bad, cheap and good steve from chicago
Great video Simon, really enjoyed the double act on this one! It's a controversial view but I actually think the best fish and chips in town are at the café in the Victoria garden centre, opposite The Stables (Fridays only, I think). No vino collapso though!
Simon great to see you and Mrs M together. 44 years, congratulations 👍👍😁🥂🥂 Chin Chin. I must say for under £20 quid that was amazing, nowdays some places are charging that just for 2 glasses of wine. Hope it was your lucky day 👍😁 Lol
We have also been married for 44 years! August 18th 1979. As everyone keeps telling me, I'd have been out 20 years by now! 🤣🤣 Seriously though Mrs M, my Sue was also a child bride. The young uns could learn a thing or two from us, couldn't they? Best wishes to you both. Phil.
Cracking video love it when Mrs M is appearing you two have the best banter can’t wait for the next, we went to Mr Chips as I couldn’t eat anything cooked in beef dripping at the time that was delicious 😋
They seem obsessed with the myth of Whitby cod. Most of it is from thousands of miles away. British waters have been destroyed by over fishing.Fortunately Iceland won the Cod War and they have apparently managed the resource properly. I regularly see lorries at the fish market from Cornwall!?
The quality and quantity of food in many places has gone way down.. fish n chip places selling frozen pre battered and seasoned fish you would find in iceland, not fresh yet selling it at fresh fish prices.
Simon your sense of humour is brilliant, the way ya come out with those one liners, you can have your opinion as long as its the same as mine! Fantastic.keep em comin mate.chin chin.
@@franknightingale6116 You must have no taste whatsoever. I have eaten twice at Wetherspoons. In each case, it was a bloody appalling meal. Cheap nasty ingredients and small portions.
I have got to say there seemed to be a lot of chips on your plates for wetherspoons are you getting preferential treatment because your filming it I wonder. Mrs M should have had the mushy peas and she could have put them on your plate you were slow there.
