You wanna know why it was kind of obvious that Krabs did not give Plankton the formula? The formula has always been in a beige color paper. The one Krabs gave Plankton is white with a blue outline. I knew something was up. And I almost believed it when I first saw the episode, when the screen went black.

Even if Krabs saw it a mile away, this was legitimately one of Plankton‘s best attempts. And honestly, it was messed up how Krabs basically bullied him. With the context that it was all a ploy, it was valid, but Krabs could not have knows that for certain; he was just assuming.

I’ve been rewatching your SpongeBob reactions, and I found a super dark reference in S3 Ep18. Plankton says that “united, the plankton family could be a real pain in the belly!” This is a reference to how the bacteria that causes cholera travels on plankton and how people get infected by drinking untreated water with plankton in it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the first episode of season five the one that gives context behind Krabs and Plankton’s backstory?

This is going to be a little ranty, but I WISH that the “New Leaf” episode would have ended a little differently. Instead of having it be a plan from the start, have Plankton legitimately change careers. Then he and Mr. Krabs would bond again, but Mr. Krabs doesn’t test Plankton with the “formula.” Instead, Plankton could be moderately successful with his gift shop, but after a few weeks he (and Mr. Krabs) grows tired of the monotony. Plankton would then realize that part of the reason why he’s been trying to steal the formula all these years wasn’t to just be successful (because clearly he could do that just by selling souvenirs) but because stealing it gave him excitement and a goal to achieve in his life, maybe he even enjoyed trying to steal it and it became fun for him. And THEN have him go back to his old ways. Could have even been a full length episode 🤷‍♀️

I think this is where the bad episodes of the season really start to appear in greater numbers. I wouldn't say they're terrible, in fact SpongeBob going on vacation is pretty cool. and the one with the wig has good jokes. But the first two. They are quite bland. and the endings with plot twists are not effective in any of them.
