Honestly, if this was the true series finale, I would have been content. It just feels right. Spongebob getting the respect he deserves, Krabs seeing the true value of his top employee, Plankton actually succeding in getting thr Krabby Patty formula (even for a bruef moment), and even Squidward gets some form of closure with Spongebob at the end.

I still love the fact that the movie literally parallels the epic poem "The Odyssey"! Seriously, it's about going on a journey with obtacles to overcome, a bag of winds to return home, a cyclops, the underworld (the trench), the siren (the frogfish), etc. The fact that they intentionally written the movie to allude to one of the most oldest pieces of literature is the most based thing about the whole thing. I fucking love it~

@@Rogkyui Oh yeah. I know. I was just jokin' around :) Yeah, you're right. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie would have made an EXCELLENT finale!! Such a great film!! But, I'm glad the show didn't end. Season 4 was far from bad and Season 5 was pretty good. Personally, I like the new SpongeBob, but the first three seasons are unmatched. Also, the co-showrunner for SpongeBob - Vincent Waller - states that Derek Drymon might come back to the show in the not-so-distant future. The fourth movie will also be directed by Derek Drymon, so I know it's gonna be really good!

Yeah it was right after season 3. Stephen Hillenberg wanted to end the show on a high note. Tbh some of seasons 3 episodes showed a slight drop in quality but they were still good. In the end, from what I understand Nickelodeon had some contract that screwed him over of having complete ownership of the show. It’s why even though he died in 2016 the show has how ever many seasons and 2 spin offs

There's no point considering it's an episodic show with very little continuity. If the show never continued, a lot of great episodes never would have came out and a whole generation probably wouldn't have been exposed to the show at the same level.

I watched this movie in the 3rd grade (2004) at the end of the school year. That was my first time seeing anything Spongbob related. (I was highly impressional as a kid, so I wasn't allowed to watch it as well as other shows. Plus, i grew up with bare minimum cable, 23 channels) That Hasselhoff scene awoke something in me, especially the cannon pecks. Soon after, whenever my mom took me to Wal-Mart, I would get lost in the mens underwear isle staring at the modles on the packaging.😂

I absolutely LOVE this movie and I'm really glad you guys finally got to watch it together! I used to have this on DVD for the longest time. I still remember it was in a yellow case and Spongebob's face was plastered over the entire front of the disc. Unfortunately, I had to throw it out because when my baby sister came to hang out with my Grandpa, she found the disc and started drawing all over it with a pen. One of these days, I'm gonna get it on DVD again and there will be no fucking way I'm letting any future children get their hands near it!

i love how they went a little more out there with the animation style. that still of patrick with his mouth agape is easily the BEST still from the entire spongebob series

Like I will always enjoy this movie. I was around 12 but I relish seeing people watch it. Our band also covers the credit song "Ocean Man by Ween" all the time. Mostly because it is easy to play but because it is just a banger of a song.

This movie was supposed to wrap up the series according to Stephen Hillenburg, unfortunately the executives at Nickelodeon became too greedy as they start overusing it and got rid of shows like: As Told By Ginger and Hey Arnold! from the original program.😑
