We thought we'd switch things up a bit and head over to Wall Stadium for their annual Turkey Derby to go watch our friends race the asphalt modifieds. What else could we possibly be doing on our first weekend off other than...go racing!?

Thanks for coming down to our little asphalt track and sharing it with all your dirt followers. Racing on a small, narrow track with really fast cars that are all about the same speed definitely leads to a little rougher style of racing. Did you notice the time trial lap times? The top 15 cars were within 3/10 of a second of each other. If somebody doesn't give your room you can't really can't pass them without moving them out of the way a little bit. In college I lived in Rochester, spent a lot of time hanging out with Steve Paine at rolling wheels, Canandaigua and the other tracks up there. My introduction to racing, thanks to my grandfather was at East Windsor Speedway when I was about 5 years old. I love both styles of racing modifieds!

Asphalt racing is awesome 👍🏁 especially the open wheel modifides I grew up watching my Dad race them in LI NY ,Freeport speedway NY , Riverhead SPEEDWAY NY, and Islip speedway NY . Racing at turkey derby is always great as I have been about 8 times.I was just before the start/finish line this year .Was very cold but that is part of the experience.

Those are my favourite asphalt cars. They are like the modifieds of the asphalt. Nascar Whelen Modifieds has a series for those types of cars and I watch that! Looks like you guys had fun! Enjoy the off season.

@@dirttrackuntold I was at Merrittville speedway for the 2018 and 2019 race. I know you guys attended one of them I think? I should have came and say hi but that was back when I was just getting back into Big Blocks and the Super Dirt Car Series. I'm thinking of going to Oshweken this summer if your there I'll come say hi 😊

I thought you looked familiar. I was sitting right in front of you guys. I used to crew on dirt mods st flemington and knew your father. I was impressed and surprised at how cold it was and you weren't wearing gloves. Lol. Didnt want to ask your name because i didnt want you to think i was a creap. Oh well. That was my first turkey Derby. Grew up going to orange county. Past few years tried new Egypt and Grandview. After missing the last few eastern states weekends I wanted to check something new out. Seeing the dirt modifieds on the asphalt was an experience

For some reason I clicked on this video the fastest I've ever have. Watching it, I realized I didn't see one asphalt mod race this year 😳 Turkey Derby is a great event and wall is awesome. Just wish it wouldn't be a long day that it is. Hopefully we can get billy back to run!

There is two reasons , they fish tail back and forth to get the lose particles of rubber off the tires , and number 2 put some heat in the tires , although it’s mostly to get the tires cleaned off from lose dirt ,rubber and sand , that stuff all sticks like glue to hot sticky tires, I’m going to being running you IMCA modified next year some , nice thanks BigAl California

Asphalt paved tracks are real big hp tracks, your average run of the mill race engine will not hold up on pavement asphalt tracks, I have been doing to mater look 👀 alike towing at Willow springs speedway California for years 2009 til now , nice 👍 thanks BigAl thanks, hope you had a good thanksgiving, I stayed here at home, and I cooked my turkey 🦃 and all the fixings my self, they call them super mods, offsets on some of them engine, nice thanks BigAl California
