Welcome to the rest of your hobby life... haha you'll have a blast but, trust me. Best community you could be a part of, hands down. Plenty of vids here on youtube to learn new tips and tricks to help improve your skills. Biggest tips ever are to "keep those paints thin for application" and "take your time", the rest will come naturally. Enjoy the adventure and look forward to seeing how they turn out.
GW stores are cool, but around here they don't seem to last. |They come in, open and get super busy for a few months while running all the smaller local game stores out of business. Then due to their annoying thing about not wanting people to actually play in the stores, they inevitably die off, business drops off, and they close, leaving the area without any local game stores for a while until someone gets brave enough to open one. It has happened 3 times in our area over the many years that I have been in the hobby. It is an annoying and self destructive pattern that is terrible for the hobby.
Models are soooooo much work, you got to put them together, paint them well and the result is rarely as imagined. That is why I fell for Joytoy Warhammer action figures ! Just have a look at the recent Deathsworn Wolves and tell me that is not perfection
bah, painting them well is not a requirement, lol. I've been playing Warhammer for nearly 30 years now. I enjoy actually playing the game. I have hundreds of 20+ year old models that have never seen paint. I despise painting and have probably only painted a few dozen models in all of the years I've been playing. I'd be happier if they came really badly pre-painted like Heroclix to be honest, but I would rather actually play the game than waste my time on terrible paint jobs that most people would just complain about anyway. Long live the gray unpainted masses!
