That rollercoaster style 2nd drop in the dark which gets everybody soaking wet is my absolute favorite part of Splash Mountain, because it happens unexpectedly and serves as a transition to the laughing place (a tribute scene to Rainbow Caverns). Katie and Spencer, thank you for allowing me to say goodbye to my favorite Disneyland ride. My feelings about Splash are actually bittersweet, but out with the old and in with the newish. ❤

I had just finished my freshman year in high school in the summer of '89 when we went for the opening of Splash Mountain. My little brother and I ended up riding it 6 times. Was one of my best days ever in Disneyland. Thank you for this farewell video to Splash!

It's really sad to see Splash Mountain leaving the park. Change is not easy to accept especially when it's a ride you really like. Lucky for you that you brought a change of clothes otherwise walking around the park with wet clothes would really suck. I hope that the new ride is just as good.

R.i.p. Splash Mountain. 1989 - 2023. A Disneyland classic. / I hope they put all those props and animatronic characters in a museum sometime . would be a shame to see Brer Rabbit Brer Fox, Brer Bear and the other characters put out to waste away.

I traveled from Seattle to Anaheim a week ago just to do Splash and we got totally drenched on the last Splash! This ride is a part of my childhood and it pains me to see them close it. I would actually consider going to Japan to ride it again.

When I went on Splash Mountain, for the first time, i just loved going down the trail, enjoying the music and seeing all the cute stuff. Then tripping out when you go inside. All those characters were from the show, “America Sings”. It was in that carousel area, before it became carousel of Progress. That was favorite show, and it was close to my old favorite ride, “Adventures Through Inner Space. Great times.

Yeah, I remember America Sings. Those animatronics were old 35 years ago! I love the old things, and sometimes I miss them particularly the People Mover and Adventures in Inner Space, but if the park wasn't constantly changing, then it would not be following the dream of Walt Disney.

Well we will always have Splash Mountain in Tokyo Disneyland. Just got back and it was so amazing! not run down at all, they even have added amazing screens behind the animatronics. The Japanese have all the original rides and would never change them. The original red head is there in pirates too :)

Splash Mountain is part of critter country not the bayou. I think they need to keep the themes in the lands not blend them. Just sayin. I’ve always loved the nod to America sings in the ride. That’s what I grew up on!

The land wasn’t Critter County before Splash. So changing the name of a land isn’t something new. Once the new ride is open they may rename the land

Being an east-coaster, the very first time I experienced Splash Mountain (Disney World) was in Sept. of '92, when it was new and only open for cast members to ride. They started to let Disneyana Convention folks on as well, which my friend and I enjoyed. After the soaking ride, we had to buy shorts and a shirt--great souvenirs, by the way. Thank you for bringing back those great old memories...loved it!

I went last weekend and I thought the same thing I have never gotten so wet! And I had a poncho on! Those waves found every hole in my poncho and I was soaked regardless!

As a black man born and raised and currently living in Orlando I really enjoyed splash mountain, i still don't see why they had to close it down. I personally think that the attendance wasn't good so that was the excuse to close it. Not because of some so-called racist stuff. Just my opinion

yeah the ride itself didn’t have much to do with the movie, but it’s not always bad to update rides with characters these new kids know. Also Tiana is an great princess who deserves more representation in the park anyway, just plain makes sense to put her ride there.

I know you were talking about the Ariel meet and greet, but one hidden meet and greet in May if you are a Star Wars enthusiast is Darth Vader, he does pics between 11a-1p daily at the Star Wars Launch Bay. There is no signage or advertising except for the DL app under characters, so you just have to walk up and they will direct you there, it’s a separate line than the members lounge.

This was our first and last ride of 2022! So grateful we got to go twice 🙊 This was also my husband’s first time ever and first ride ever! I’m so glad he was brave enough to do it again lol (not a rides guy but thanks to Disney becoming one!) just wish I got a pressed penny!

My last 2 rides this week got me soaked head to toe ,both times in the tunnel at the end a huge wave got me twice,barely got wet on the drop, I've rode that ride hundreds of times and never been that soaked.

I'm definitely excited about the change. The concept art looks beautiful and like the fireflies in the concept art. I went a couple of weeks ago for my last ride on Splash Mountain. You are right about getting soaked! I went first thing in the morning with my sandals and then went home and changed.

Beautiful vlog Katie and Spencer!! Splash Mountain was the very first Disneyland ride I ever went on at the age of 4. I will miss this attraction so dearly as I have many memories going on it. What I will miss the most about Splash Mountain are the timeless songs as they were a huge part of my childhood. It's going to be interesting to see what Disney does with Tiana's Bayou Adventure and I have faith in Disney they will do good things. I did see the live action Little Mermaid yesterday with my grandmother and I loved it so much despite the controversy it's been getting. What I really loved about the movie was the visual effects and the cinematography. The cast and crew did such an amazing job sticking to the original script. Halle Bailey rocked the role of Ariel so well, I am so glad they chose her to play the part. I have plans to see it a few more times in theaters.

I am going to massively miss Splash Mountain...my son's most favorite ride...it's the music, the cute characters, the big river boat at the end...I hope they keep the boat! I am going to miss the music the most. BUT, as sad as I am that Splash is ending I'm super excited for Tiana's! Okay K&S. Regarding splash, I’m very sad to see it go ONLY because I’m always sad when an original classic part of Disney leaves. I know this was late 80’s but I still consider that classic DLAND attractions. On the flip side, COULDNT BE MORE EXCITED FOR TIANAS. It’s a perfect setup for a bayou adventure and I honestly think Disney will knock it out of the park!! 2nd, mermaid is my favorite princess film and is dear to my heart. With some of the live action remakes I’ve been a little let down so I was nervous but I just saw it yesterday and I LOVED it. They incorporated so many of my favorite details and even had Jodie Benson cameo in it which I loved. I hope you guys enjoy it too 💜🐠🌊🐚

The drop before the laughing place. Always a huge wave gets all over the first and second row. My family and I went on it at night. We were all screaming because we didn’t want to get wet. My my cousin and I were in the first and second row and we got soaked 😂😊

We just went on Splash Mountain on 5/21 and also got head to toe drenched, and yep it was that 1st and 2nd drop. 😂 It wasn’t really due to a splash but the water just poured over the sides. Sadly I was wearing jeans (which I do NOT recommend for this ride lol) and had no change of clothes. It took hours to dry and I ended up chaffing due to the wet jeans. Thank goodness for the First Aid area. Those ladies were awesome and were able to help me feel waaay better.

I’m depressed. Splash is my favorite ride, has been since I was tall enough to ride it. My daughter didn’t get to ride before it closed and she’ll never experience it in this theme. I hate change at Disneyland 😢

Sad to see Splash Mountain go😢 I remember as a child looking thru a hole in the fence while they were building. When it was done my whole family waited in line for 3hrs. But the ride was so worth it. I got to go opening day, I was 10, and we waited 3 1/2 hours in line because it kept breaking down and was so popular of course, especially cause there was only one park so crowds weren’t as dispersed then. I am excited to see the changes though it will be so fun.

OMG- you got so wet LOL. I've read about folks getting wet these past few weeks, but it didn't used to be this bad! I'm looking forward to Tiana's. I have a confession to make about this attraction: Unlike Katie, I grew up with "America Sings." So when we first rode on Splash (and even now watching your video) we keep seeing the characters from that attraction- not Splash! The ride is fun and the music is great, but I never developed an emotional attatchment to Splash like some did. When I first heard that they were going to put Tiana's story in here, I thought immdiately how well the story would fit with the bayou, the rivers, New Orleans etc. So I have high hopes for it. I know the fun ride and great drop will still be there. Thanks for taking us on one last fun ride! 😃

My family and I did our last ride earlier this month and it was definitely an unforgettable experience. The 3 of us got head to toe drenched and we had to do some shopping at pooh's corner to buy new clothes to change into. They must put more water on that ride because I don't remember getting that wet before! I'm excited to see the new changes!

We took our last ride on May 7th 2023 and me n my grand daughter did not get wet. Other than the wet seats when we got in. We wanted to ride again up front but it got cold to ride again lol.

They probably did add more water on it since it won’t be working for awhile. I used to hide inside on the drop down in the and let the other people get wet if I sat in the front set at Adventure land which is our amusement park in Central Iowa.

Pro tip. DRI FIT. I always hated wet shirts in the summer from being at work or just wet clothes is uncomfortable. DRI FIT is the only way to go. DRI FIT pants and shirts are the way to go. They dry off quick. Hiking or theme parks I’ll wear mostly everything dri fit. Even wearing a dri fit shirt under your t shirt helps.

my son and i went on splash mt. for the last time in december because we knew we wouldn’t be back before the shutdown. it was cold, but we just had to do it. we brought ponchos, but we usually do that anyway. i’m gonna miss it, but, like you, i’m looking forward to tiana’s batou adventure.

I can’t wait for Tiana’s ride. Replacing a ride that is based off a movie that perpetuates negative stereotypes with a ride based of a movie with a positive female, black lead is a good thing. It’s called progress.
