Amazing podcast! Great to see a lot of aspects of publishing. 1. I find the whole Playboy segment very interesting. Usually people overlook these things as a superficial thing, rather than seeing things like the publishing aspect: Playboy is a modeling agency with a focus on the erotic. 1.1. Seeing the whole game being developed as a Sims game is rather interesting. Usually they would have thrown a "casino" type gameplay on top or just "make the puzzle and unlock a picture" kind of gameplay so them going for something more focused is interesting to hear. 1.2. It's no secret that these industries attract a "certain" type of people who aren't exactly in touch with reality, but I guess all industries have some unflattening aspects to them. Like games focusing on "high spending" players and build gacha mechanics around them. 1.3. I liked how down to earth the whole conversation was around the people working there. Usually these workers are painted as unintelligent or having nothing else going for them, but a lot of them are rather brilliant people who knows how to sell as a model (Marketing and publishing, essentially). 2. For the 15$, I would've gone with: Zelda ($5), Metroid ($4) and Fire emblem ($4) and if there was a "Wii Sports" type game I'd give it the last $2, otherwise Mario Party ($2) 2.1. I'd have Zelda being the launch tittle, as usually that really helps to boost console sales (Twilight for Wii, BotW for Switch), and I'll agree with Krysta on being it more akin to Ocarina/Twilight. That Switch 2 should be able to showcase something with high detail. 2.2. Metroid should come with a multiplayer that matches Halo's energy (At least during the Bungie era) and focus a lot on local experiences (pick up and play). We all wished something like this for the Wii U but never came to fruition, and 4 is taking some sweet time. 2.3. Fire emblem is such a wonderful franchise but after Awakening it seems to be shoving titles for the sake of profit. Awakening felt like a pure passion project, just want another one with such a soul with a lot of content (I loved Fates and 3H but they never filled that Awakening gap). 2.4. I think Nintendo consoles should ALWAYS have a prepackaged game that showcases the system capabilities like Wii Sports. They did it with NintendoLand but it wasn't packed on all consoles, and Switch didn't have one either. A "Switch 2 Sports" package on every system would be mostly welcomed. Otherwise a Mario Party would be a nice one to have. Sorry for the long comment, just loved all these topics!

I agree with birthday months. Not that it requires a full month of celebrating the birthday, but just as a sort of open window for people to celebrate and spend time together when they're able. Maybe a celebratory dinner with family members on the actual day, then going out with a group of friends the following weekend, and then a little lunch thing with coworkers the next weekend. Spreading it out helps to keep things a little more stress-free.

I missed it on the patreon so here's my switch 2 launch year line up. $4 each for Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War remake, Fire Emblem Thracia 776 remake and a brand new Fire Emblem, and either toss out the last 3 bucks or if Xenoblade (i think it was in the 3 tier) we can get the inevitable Xenosaga remake(s). The point is who needs variety when you can have Fire Emblem.

This should be fun. I went to the Playboy Mansion back in 2006 or so, and had a nice time. Video game related interviews is what I was conducting, while having a unique tour! I’m sure working on the game is an interesting story in itself. Let’s go!

For MGS Master Collection, I think the general consensus is that it's a "death by 1000 paperclips" kind of thing, and not the case that it's an inherently unplayable port. There's a TON of small issues that just kind of add up. That said, the biggest problem with the MGS1 Master Collection version was that at launch, the analogue stick was mapped to the D-Pad. It was restricted to 8 directions and you couldn't do subtle adjustments to your aim and stuff like that. They fixed that a few weeks ago from what I recall, so that's probably why you're not noticing any issues.

This is how I would manage $15 in games line: -Start with a $2 Yoshi game for all family, Yoshi is lovable and hasn't gotten a game, let's start with Yoshi to promote the family audiences. -Then a $4 Metroid game to do two things, 1st to incentive older audiences and two, promote the console transition AS Zelda BOTW did with the Wii U, besides it has been in the oven for much time and fans will get pissed if it takes even more time, but only if circumstances allow it. This would be THE big game. -a $3 Kirby game but not any Kirby game, more of spinoff Kirby, more like a racing Kirby game I'm thinking as for a new Mk a time lapse needs to pass which is not talked at all to proceed to a sequel, and I think a Kirby racing game would be something short and fun to have in a meanwhile to focus gains into a next big thing. - a $1 Punch Out, same as the Kirby game but for more action base, and on top who knows if the game promotes itself greatly as the mechanics are quite unique if it's done correctly. - a $2 Mario Party game, the family game for the year, features Mario, Mario must be in the lineup somehow and again, are fun if done properly. - a $3 Xenoblade Chronicles at last for niche audiences, in fact it would be a good time to bring Xenoblade Chronicles X and close the Wii U era for good with a port of that game. With the lineup my idea is just to provide a safe combination between fun, action, casual and a Rpg just to promote the console, maximize sells for the big shots upcoming for the future and who knows those same future projects happening after launch, those would be 6 games placed strategically with the idea of transition and promote the console. Personally I'm happy with my idea because because money is saved for better stuff and I'm not talking of any of the big five $5 games. So, what do you guys think?, it rocks or it snoozes?

Awe, I liked the Wii U. I played the batman games on it, which were great. Oh, and Spiderman was really fun on it. And I also love Xenoblade Chronicles X! So good! Honestly, I think the system would've sold better, if only the marketing had done a better job. I didn't know Wii U was a completely separate console for the longest time. The commercials made me think it was just the tablet accessory that you added to the existing Wii console. I skipped over it for the longest time, because I thought I didn't need or want the tablet, as I always played my Wii on the TV anyway. But once I saw games say "Only on Wii U", and I thought to myself, "Wow, they're making you buy an accessory just to play this game?" I looked into it more, and was honestly surprised that it was an entirely new generation of console. So, yeah, I feel like marketing really dropped the ball there.

Here is my Switch 2 Lineup: $5 - Mario Kart 9. There is no way any list should be without this, it is probably Nintendo's best-selling franchise overall. $4 - Animal Crossing. This tier is tough and up for debate, but I personally think a new 3D Mario is coming relatively quickly so I don't think we will see a big, brand-new DK just yet. $3 - Xenoblade Chronicles. I think this is the best bang for buck in this tier and it's been long enough that a new one could happen in the first year. Also a great tech showcase. $2 - F-Zero. They won't do this the same year as MK9, or maybe ever, but this is my one pick that is just for me, because I really miss the franchise! $1 - Pilotwings x Wave Race. I have always thought that this would make a great combo so I'm shilling for it here. Imagine a Wuhu Island vehicle sports game that combines the different Pilotwings playstyles with a new jetski mode inspired by Wave Race? Add in some collectibles and little quests to give it an adventure racing angle, too. I would bump it to $3 and take out F-Zero for this title.

1:41:13 Epic Universe is Universal Orlando’s new theme park. You could say it’s very akin to the Walt Disney World Orlando parks where they have four different theme parks like Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Right now Universal has two parks which is Universal Studios and Island of Adventure, plus a water park called Volcano Bay. With Epic Universe that will be their fourth one. I’m so excited for Epic Universe, specifically for the Super Nintendo World land they are opening there. This may also open to some more expansions that can be made in the future in that same new park, as well as across all the other Universal parks they have too. Exciting stuff!

It's worth noting that Sony hasn't completely 180'd on their decision. It's true that while they said they won't have PSN linking tied to Helldivers 2 now, they still delisted it on Steam in those countries, and as of today they have yet to actually put them back on sale in those countries, so everyone who bought it still can't play the game whether they wanted to or not Conversations are still going about it I believe, but until the game is relisted back in those countries, Sony still has to answer for their corporate scummery

The Hell Divers 2 thing was bigger than that. It wasn't just PC players feeling oppressed, it was a lot of countries not being able to play the game anymore even after they purchased it. I believe over 150 countries wouldn't be able to play. They pulled it from their stores/they can't buy it in those countries still. And the Community Manager was kicked from his job. Its not a complete 180 still.

I don’t think having the ESRB leak the game was a miss. I think Nintendo took a small bullet to shorten the list of who Pyoro is. I would think a more limited list of people would have known the info when Pyoro announced the game this time since it was farther out than normal from the actual announcement than when Pyoro normally leaks.

As far as the Nintendo World Championships for Switch, I can name two reasons why it leaked and two reasons how it could've been prevented 👀. (I kid) As far as the actual NWC event, I was at the 2017 one and met JC. He was a really cool person. He wanted me to send feedback for the event. I had wanted to email him, but I saw Nintendo had no publicly available emails, so I tweeted him instead. I loved that event. It was really fun.

I won’t buy Mario Kart 9 unless it has a fixed battle mode. By that I mean win by popping balloons, not win by timer. There’s like no tension in the new style, and I don’t know anyone who plays it. On N64 it was nail bitingly exciting to try coming back for the win with only one balloon left. Also makes it easier to know what’s happening instead of randomly driving around shooting til the game tells you someone has won. Also can you not play battle mode with only human players? I forget, I was thinking maybe it makes you play with a bunch of CPUs. If so, that definitely need to be fixed.

Can you guys talk about the drama with the North American box art for Bayonetta 2 and how Kamiya thought it was ugly because of the weird gold. Any insight on why it was changed since you guys were on the team at the time? It seems we got the original box art for the Switch release.

Also, 20:45, it’s pretty naive to say the world is more prudish now when 1. a new Dead or Alive came out in 2019, 2. there are still plenty of games releasing today with riqué content, and 3. comparing the graphics of the women in something like BMX XXX from 2002 to the current gen graphics, it’s a pretty different thing we’re talking about between blocky models and more photo realistic bodies.

A huge amount of what's being talked about here has made me deeply uncomfortable. You sell it as a female oriented/driven business and unnamed executives just "hanging" with girls... But we all know what's REALLY happening and who is REALLY at the top of it all... This kind of crap still goes on... They just can't afford to have it in the open anymore. People are too wise these days. I mean there's a reason why you found yourself saying "Oh... That's it?" When you saw it for yourself. The glamour is all just stardust. All that's left is the sleaze and upper class, organised prostitution.
