The shotgun shells actually do make sense. Standard 12 gauge shells are 2 3/4" long, which is about 70mm. The naming is unconventional, but 12 gauge by 70mm, or 12x70, does make sense. You just wouldn't see it written that way.

I love the M4 gun, how botched it is. Each time you load the gun and pull back that charging handle in the back it pops open, then springs the dust cover closed. I never noticed that when firing it, the dust cover again springs around. Thing is, technically the gun can't function because you can't fire the gun with the dust cover covering the chamber. I'm a new Stalker and picked up the game on Xbox. I do absolutely love the game, and despite being a very big gun fanatic, I can gloss past bad gun modeling and such. I will however give them praise for adding the reciprocating barrel on the AN-94. Edit: the MP-5 has a straight mag. Now, I don't know this for sure, but that mag is for the MP-10. An MP-5 thats chambered in 10mm rather than 9mm. The 9mm version is supposed to have a slightly curved mag. Now i don't know this for certain, but I think im right on that..? I could be wrong.

The M4 styled rifle is an LR300, an early attempt at a AR pattern rifle without a buffer tube before the idea took off more recently with the MCX.

@@TacticalBaguette The LR-300 was revamped in early versions of the Oblivion Lost mod way back in 2008, making the sights actually usable.

Wow, didn't know the AN-94 Abakan is such a Gucci weapon as "Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of firearms and artillery at the royal armouries museum in the UK, which houses thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history" would say. Time to remove it from most of the NPCs.

I'm so GLaD there's someone else in this world who cares about these sorts of details! Also GLaD I'm not the only zoner to notice the wrongness with the rockets. I'd like to see proper OG-7V HE-frags depicted in a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod. PG-7VL HEAT warheads should be reserved for use against vehicles. Anomaly (with or without GAMMA) have properly fast rockets. 6:10 Might as well use full metric designations. 12-gauge standard shells would be 18.5x70mm. 12-gauge Magnum shells would be 18.5x76mm. 12-gauge Super Magnum shells (not applicable to the core games, and I don't know about mods) would be 18.5x89mm. 20-gauge is 15.6mm. 10-gauge is 19.7mm. 8-gauge is 21.2mm. 23mm, if converted to original UK gauge measurement would be somewhere between 6- and 7-gauge. Not sure how any gauge measurement system works that factors 23mm as "4-gauge." In the original UK gauge system, 4-gauge is a lot bigger than 23mm. Some of this info is applicable to some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods, including but not limited to Anomaly and GAMMA. 6:19 12x70 would be correctly enunciated as "twelve gauge by 70 millimeter" (70mm being equivalent to 2.75 inches which can also be expressed as 2-3/4 inches which is enunciated as "two and three-quarter" inches). If used as an adjective, we Americans say "inch" (singular), whereas when using the measurement as a noun, we say "inches" (plural). In the UK, they use the plural form whether it's a noun or adjective. 6:58 A clip is a device, other than a speedloader, used for loading a magazine or cylinder. Anyway, that 5.45 weakness always irked me too. 5.45 is a capable intermediate rifle caliber IRL! Fortunately, it performs a lot better in most mods. 7:19 Stats don't really mean anything in ShoC. 9:54 P220 mags usually come as flush-fit 7-round factory standard, almost-flush-fit 8-round aftermarket, and 10-round extended aftermarket mags that hang down below the mag well and aren't reliable. The 8-rounders are the best. 10:57 Right?! They should have made it a Jericho 941. Most mods have the Desert Eagle chambered for a proper Magnum or big-bore caliber. 11:04 It's available in other Magnum or big bore calibers, but some of them are rare (like .440 Cor-Bon). 11:46 Hammers, not lever. ShoC gets it right. It's a TOZ-66, an old-timey side-by-side with a cowboy aesthetic. It's a sidelock (and older design than the boxlock) and it has double hammers (aka "rabbit ears" in old-school American gun enthusiast slang). So you could call it a "rabbit-ear sidelock." It's a lot like the sawed-off used by Mad Max in 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome'. Too bad he only ever fires one shot out of it. Clear Sky and CoP depict the hammers being cocked, but the technique that's used is haphazard. Those hammers are made to be thumbed back with the thumb, not palmed back with the palm. 12:25 Games usually do pump shotguns dirty. Some mods do it even worse. Anomaly does pump shotguns dirtier than the core games. GAMMA fixes some of that to different degrees, but doesn't do a good enough (or consistent enough) job. True S.T.A.L.K.E.R. does it better. The proper way to load a fixed-tube pump shotgun defensively is to do a "combat load." If it's a side-ejector, that involves a "chamber load." If it's a bottom-ejector (like the Ithaca 37 which shows up in some mods), then the procedure is a bit different, but the concept is the same. You need to get the first round in the chamber quickly, then load the rest. In games, we always see the last round being cycled into the action, but you're still somehow able to fire a shot while loading (because video game logic). I expect S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to be held to a higher standard. Video logic, the kind that insults our intelligence, doesn't belong in a sophisticated series like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 12:39 Which you can't do on a Maverick 88 due to the design of the magazine tube. It can only hold five standard rounds in the tube, plus one in the chamber, for a total of six. Subtract one if using Magnum shells (which have an uncrimped length of 3 inches or 76mm). 13:04 Should have a reflex or dot sight. Real ones have options, and you can get them with iron sights (compete with a rifle-type front sight at the end of the muzzle). In-game, you can put a SUSAT on it, but it's pointless because slugs and darts are too weak to be worth using. IRL, a 12-gauge slug can bust the engine block of a Mack truck. 13:18 Anomaly accurately depicts that. Fortunately, you can interrupt the reload at any moment, but you do it by pressing "fire." I wish you could interrupt the reload by pressing "aim" like in Killing Floor. 14:00 The straight mags are in the style of the MP5's predecessor, the HK54. What irks me is that the charging handle reciprocates, and you don't do an HK slap. Why no HK slap?! What's the point of putting a classic HK gun in a game if it doesn't have an HK slap animation?! 14:53 / 15:23 / 15:32 Anomaly accurately depicts that 2-round hyper-burst. It's the best mode for general use, especially with a 1P29 "Tulip" scope. If full rock 'n' roll is more your style, then you'll most likely prefer the AEK-971. Anomaly also accurately depicts the muzzle brake and the canted magazine well. 16:55 We can assume it's because it's alternate history. If you want more variety of Stoner-based rifles, Anomaly, GAMMA, and some other mods have you covered. The Arsenal Overhaul mod for the PC version of ShoC adds a whole, whole lot. More than just the Stoner and Kalashnikov families. 18:19 (FN F2000) 19:07 I've sometimes wondered if it was meant to be an M381 HE-frag grenade. Also, the modular launcher misidentified as an M-203 is really a GL5040 made by SIG (which has the military name "Gewehraufsatz 97" or "GwA.97"). 19:38 Right?! Would have better to do something in between or to leave it as it was instead of retrograding it. 23:41 Makes you wonder what all those wires are for if the battery has to be swapped out like a magazine. The in-game lore of the gauss rifle says that its technology is based around the Flash artifact, implying that it has an onboard power source. That means it shouldn't need batteries.

Most people don't realize how fast RPG missiles are. They are supposed to be able to penetrate vehicles before detonating.

These missiles was engineered to penetrate any vehicle armor by cumulative jet. So explosion must be outside vehicle. To penetrate armor by simple impulse the sub-caliber shells needed. But that is another story )

RPG rockets are HEAT-type projectiles, which means they detonate upon contact. You're thinking of tank shells, which work by different principles and they don't explode, rather they shatter.

@@wallachia4797 as i said outside vehicle and, yes, upon contact. To penetrate armor missile has to explode 0-1 meter away from tank. Some drones explode in advance, 1-3 meters away from armor. In order to not get stuck or be knocked off course by protection grid. Such explodes are more efficient in modern fight. Tank subcaliber shells dont explode but have mass of advantages. They hit tank crew and equipment by frags and get it on fire cause of pyrophoric frags. Also penetrate much more efficiently than usual caliber armor-piercing tank shells. it can not engage tank's active armor which is good protection against cumulative shells. Moreover they have more speed, accuracy and max distance with all the consequences. It's of little use against, except that only, front armor of heavy tanks.

6:42 OMG my eyes commited suicide, i have memories 6 years ago raging...this is hit_probablility_dist = 10 in action. To translate it, any gun you fire except snipers has potential to count 20% of the shots as not registering beyond 10 meters, so even if you line up peefect sight picture on that merc head the bullet is "live" but passes like ghost trough the merc not dealing damage. I completely fixed that bs with "better combat mod for shoc".

14:20 it's quite funny, because you speaking about wrong colour of handguard, when 5,45 AK-74U have attached here a steel 7,62 40-rounder from RPK instead of "orange" polymer 30-rounder 5,45 magazine. And despite the model of steel 40-rounder game displays 30 round capacity. It's a shame, because they could used RPK-74 45-rounder 5,45 polymer magazine, set up 45 round capacity in the game code, and it would be all right.

It's not neccessary to change game code. It would be enough to change number in one config file. Actually this video doesnt contain all flaws. About ten of them have not been shown yet. If i find several more, I think 4th part will be about stalker too. As it was with CS 1.6
