"They're heavy." I recall having those on and saying "Man, these are light as a feather." When you grew up with leather and horse/deer hair, they were amazing. "I'm unstoppable!"

You can see a little later he’s putting the thigh boards on and tucking them into his pants. That’s what we had instead of knee pads back in the 90’s.

One of my best accomplishments was being a top goalie in my area while having the oldest gear. Everyone in the top 10 wore the “new” style stuff.

I wish I still had all of my Cooper Reactor 5 gear. I didn't like the double T on the glove at first but it grew on me.

I was born in 2000 and i was taught how to play stand up i started playing ball hockey with pads from the 70s . Its different and fools most people today not viable at the nhl level but its a different style to play against

You think Vaughn pads are old school? Try some Cooper GP59s that absorb about 5 lbs of water each after a period or two, and have padding 'seams' between the rolls that can really sting your shin if a clapper finds them just right. Nothing like the smell of wet leather and deer hair.
