We live in a society where women wear makeup, dye our hair, wear fake nails, and even undergo surgery to change our bodies without anyone blinking an eye! Yet I can't for the life of me figure out why there is a stigma about wearing wigs! I find wearing wigs to be so much fun!! It's so easy to have gorgeous hair - the hair you've always dreamed of! Thank you Taz for helping to change people's perception! 🤗

Amen Sista'! I've recently had two friends say they wanted to explore wig options, even tho they have lots of nice hair, one of them to give their processed hair a break, the other cause she just doesn't want to "mess with it so much"! There you go...wigs give us options! And like you said we don't question or look askance at someone wearing, say, glasses! With the way wigs look now days women like Taz and Kim and Amber and Nisha and all these beautiful women have certainly blazed the trail for all of us. I say, "Wig wearers of the world UNITE!" Be there for our sisters! By the way, would anyone, like myself luv to see a magazine for wigs!? It could be fabulous, I have tons of ideas for it, but not the follow thru to do it. What say you..TAZ? Luv, Sus

I couldn't agree with you more! I think it's just that people don't understand what wigs are like nowadays. I think wig manufacturers should do much more advertising and that would probably help change things. Or have a few celebrities who endorse wigs to wear for fun and convenience.

Thank you for this.. I'm having a Lot of anxiety about being 47 with baby fine thinning hair after having LoooooNG beautiful straight black hair my whole life that people always Had to touch.. It was part of my identity and I've lost it 😟.. I've just started looking into wigs and the anxiety about being teased is overwhelming me.. I love your positivity about it ❤️

I have been losing my hair since my mid 30s. I started wearing pieces such as scrunchies and putting my hair in a stylish bun. Then I went to extensions and wore them for 15+ years. Finally, I got a new job and decided I was going to make a big change. I bought a topper and a wig. I wear the topper to work everyday and feel great. I look younger and prettier. At some point, I may go to full wigs. For now the wig is for dress-up. IMO, there is a stigma in this culture about women with bad hair. However, a lot of women have bad hair. Why not change what you can? Life is too short to have anxiety about how thin and ratty your bio hair looks. Thank you for this video.

WOW! I NEEDED to see this. I’ve been wearing toppers since 2018, but I never know what to say when receiving compliments or questions about my hair! I don’t know why admitting to wearing helper hair is so difficult for me! So…I genuinely thank you for your thoughts and support. I felt like you were speaking directly to me. I really need to conquer this fear. God bless you for sharing your courage!🙏🏼💜

Thank you for this 💕 I’ve been doing nearly exactly the same tips you’ve suggested and they really are spot on for acclimating and finally wearing a wig every day. Incidentally, I think African Americans really paved the way for more wig acceptance, for sure. Much love from Pennsylvania.

Hair is far more personal than a scarf. It represents so much more in my life. It is not what others think of me nearly as much is how I feel about my hair loss. Am I less because my hair is gone?? Am I ever gonna feel like ME again? Who is that in the mirror? Do I want to know her and be friends with her?? Have I lost ME forever?? This is the journey each of us faces. Thanks Taz for your positive influence on my journey. I’m in all the way since April 2018. I even swim/exercise in my Kenzie🎉

Wow Taz, great tips which I too have incorporated in my "coming out party". I had really great hair all my life so when I started lossing it, I was devasted. Even after going on thyroid meds and natural hormone replacement it never came back. When I finally went to wigs after finding you and others on utube I was like "YES" this is for me!! That was about a year and 1/2 ago and I have never looked back! I tell people, even if my hair came back, I would still wear wigs! I just love the freedom to change a style, color, etc. and being a creative type see it as an extension of my artistic nature as I know you do! I originally found a heat friendly wig I really liked at a beauty supply store tho I thought it was too long for me. I was always good with hair and had cut my own for years so I cut three of these wigs in 3 different but similar styles, tousled, undone and kind of "boho chic" that I often wore with scarf wrap "headbands" that added to the realism. This past summer I never felt hot & sweaty and even at days end hated to take them off! I did like you said and "owned it" telling my friends & clients how much I loved my new hair options. By now I was ready for a big change and am I glad I did it. I had long hair in my younger years and thought I would try a long wig but with a "twist". I purchased Bridgett by Jaclyn Smith in a beautiful color SF13/16. I cut about 3-4" off bottom layer, trimmed and ruffled the bangs, pulled it over in a side pony witb wispy tendrils and voila, I was thrilled! It looks and feels so natural, people are shocked when I tell them it's a wig! Here's the kicker! I am 71 year old (tho I've always looked young for my age) and I just feel like wigs have added years to my life. Gals, no matter what your age, embrace it, take good care of yourself, get & stay in shape for your health and looks, stay in style and love life. I am so grateful for you Taz and others who exude confidence tho it may have been a rocky road getting there. Sorry this was so long, I have wanted to share my "pent up journey" for so long and hope that like you Taz, I can encourage others. Much luv and appreciation from a fan and friend, Susannah

I've watched most of your videos over the past week and half due to my sudden notice of how great wigs would be instead of my braided in extensions. I went and got one at a local shop and wore that thing out THAT night to a party where I hadn't seen my friends for a long time. They gushed! They thought I'd been in the chair all day! Next night, met the fam at a big restaurant. My mom couldn't stop staring and asking questions! A few overheard our convo on the wig and wanted to know more! NO LOOKING BACK! Best decision I ever made!

Wow! You just described the whole process I went through when I started to wear wigs! I thought it was my own problem of excessive anxiety, and now I see it's only a perfectly human condition. I did all the steps you are suggesting, instinctively I suppose, plus one that I repeat every time I purchase a new wig. I wear it and go for a ride in my car (I LOVE driving) with open windows to get used to the new sensation. Every wig gives a different feeling, so before I go in public I kinda try to "incorporate" the wig in my whole feeling of my own body. Does it make sense? 😁

I totally agree with being open. I made the decision and sent out a group text to my knitting group “wig alert”. I told them what I was going to be doing so that it opened the path for questions and comments without either of feeling awkward. It also allows to to help someone else who may come back to you later because they struggle with hair loss too. Some of my friends wanted to look closely and to touch. I even took it off for a small group one day so they could see the ease of it all. Now my buddies look forward to seeing which new hair I will be wearing. I’ve explained that I think of it as another accessory like what jewelry may look better with an outfit. With the general public, I either just say thank you for a compliment or I may say that it’s a wig depending on the circumstance and the person commenting.

This is a wonderful, emotionally supportive video filled with great tips...thank you so much! I am a part time wig wearer and I'm okay with that. I work at a health club and the staff knows when I'm wearing a wig...someone will say something like "Your hair looks great!" and, with them, I will respond with a big smile and say "Thanks! It's a wig!". Of course they always know when I'm wearing one...so it's sort of fun for each of us. If i throw one on and go to the grocery store and a stranger compliments me on my "hair", I usually just say "thank you" with a smile. The tip you gave which is one I do is to take a "selfie" of myself with the wig on. That helps me see where I need to thin out part of the wig or cut the bangs a little shorter. Somehow photos of myself in a wig tell a greater "truth" than what I see in the mirror. The biggest tip I can share is this: I rarely wear a wig straight out of the box without altering it to fit my face. I cut bangs then thin them. I thin out layers under the top layer. Wigs straight out of the box always have too much hair for my face so cutting/thinning them is always a must for me. Thank you, Taz, for your tips on how to wear wigs from an emotional stand point. I look forward to more videos on cutting and trimming techniques as I feel that is an important step for women to "own" the wig and make it look more realistic for them. That, in turn, will instill greater confidence in wearing them. You ROCK! Have a great day...:-)

I"m sorry...that must hurt your feelings. If someone made an unkind remark to me about my wig wearing, I would just smile and say "I wish I were blessed with beautiful thick hair but I wasn't so wearing wigs makes me feel better about myself." And leave it at that. Unkind people are unkind because they don't like something about themselves...it's about them, not you. Try not to take it to heart. And wear your wigs with confidence and happiness...that is what Taz is helping us with....:-)

@@cassidyfit1 I must say it's do to people not understanding hair lose or not seeing beautiful wigs. I wear my wigs everyday because I have no hair. I did not want to leave the house then I came across Taz'swigcloset this was a game changer for me. Now I just decide what hair I am going to wear for the day! Like my make up clothes jewerly it's just a choice now. Sometimes people just don't understand hair lose or they are just rude people. I get asked everyday about my hair where do I get it done or your hair is beautiful my hair stylist did not know it was a wig when I went away then came home I went to see her she was like no way it's not a wig. So Love your wigs ❤ it took me a year to fill good and not worry about people saying is that a wig but never has one person asked me is that a wig I work with each style I buy with them to make them work for me. I hope you the best.

Isn't it fun to play with wigs?!!!! I love it so much! My most fav parts of Taz's videos are when she shows the styling options! Even if they are the same little tweaks, they look different on each wig. I just love her sweet sassy style, she is like a cute friend! It's like "Lets play beauty parlor!" when we were kids! Wouldn't it be fun to have a "convention"/get together for all us "wig girls"?! We could call it, "Gettin' Wiggy Wi' Dit"!!! Black gals, white, Asian, all ages, sizes, etc. Hey, I think I'm on to something! Sponsored by all the manufacturers whose products we gobble up by the truckload. My city, Nashville, would be a great locale for obvious reasons! What do any of you think? It could be advertised on all the channels and all our great utubers could "do their things" as well as bring out the new collections of the various manufacturers! OMG!! We could have "meet and greets" get to meet people that have truly touched our lives! I'm getting "goosies" just articulating it! What say y'all?

Thank you Taz! I am struggling with this right now. I think some of my resistance is that I still don’t want this to be real - that my hair loss is so bad now I have to do something. I have literally spent thousands in the last few months trying to find the wig for me. Then I reversed directions and spent hundred on scarves and hats. I feel a little crazy! And a little broke! 😀 I realized I was trying to find “my” hair and I’m just not going to find it. I have been successful in going out to places where I don’t know anyone, but work and family - not yet. So your story of your friend was particularly on point for me. Just knowing others struggle like I do helps. And hearing how you and others have been successful in the transition helps me to believe I can get there. Again, thanks for all you do to help us! I love my wigs, they make me feel so much better about myself and when I see people I haven’t seen for years, they comment how great I look and how much younger I look. YET, amongst the friends that know I wear wigs, some have asked more than once why do I feel like I have to, I look fine without it. They don’t see the bald spots I cover with spray, or my scalp showing through. What gets me the most is the two women who keep asking me that have had liposuction, breast augmentation, shots in the face, facelift. I don’t want to sound snarky to them, I love them, but it just shows you how differently some women think about wigs. My advice, ignore that, you know when you feel good and that’s all you need to know. My husband and daughter are very supportive.

I had permanent hair loss from chemo and was very self-conscious about not having hair. I always wore a scarf or a hat after getting precancerous growths on my scalp. Of course, people who knew me knew that I was wearing wigs when I started, but I felt so much better to look "normal" that it was definitely worth it. I didn't mind if friends knew, and people in stores, etc. just thought it was my hair. I have several wigs in different colors and styles and wear them according to what looks best with my outfit or feels best with the weather.

What a beautiful video Taz. I liken your words to something that happened to me. My generation of women (and my mother's) lied about their age. I had never thought about it because i always "looked" younger than my actual years. My mother and I attended a women's fair and when we went to purchase our tickets I told the person "2 seniors". My mother just about died. She tapped me on the arm and said something like, "don't say that". I knew what she meant. So fast forward and I decided to do youtube. Rather than lie about my age I decided to face it head on because I knew that unless many women were lying here that I was most likely the oldest. So my very first opening was a graphic that said, I'm 68 and I'm going down fighting...or something like that. In this youth-oriented world of procedures and fillers I've chosen to age in front of the camera and I can't tell you how freeing it has been. I hope you don't mind but I think I'll do a similar video but about facing the aging process....loved this!!!! xoxo patti

While I'm waiting for some improvement, seems like it's taking forever, I thought ok wear wigs. Even as an accessory! Why is it that Caucasian women are made to feel so embarrassed wearing a wig as an accessory? No one would ever say anything to a women of color!!!! I feel like people think I'm going through chemo or deathly sick. I shouldn't have to explain why I'm wearing one. I have so many but I fear wearing them. Why is it that our men hate wigs? I remember a time when he actually liked it & even showed me more attention in that maybe he just thought he could be with a new woman that day or night! Yes to all this. My first wig was Scorpio by Revlon, super inexpensive but surprisingly light and realistic looking. I went to the bank and imagined the teller was going to react, but she didn't blink! Only one person said something about my hair -- a neighbor who was used to seeing me with my hair in a knot at the nape -- I immediately said I was wearing a wig (Renau's Jessica in 4/33) and she had no reaction but my husband did. He said, "why tell anyone?!", LOL. I have given away both those wigs and gotten better versions of them now. My answer will be one of my real reasons, in the future: "I am going to let my hair grow out gray and then dye it lighter. For the transition, I will be wearing beautiful wigs and seeing myself in different colors. So much fun!". Because that's the truth. xxoo

We are blessed to have you in our own secluded lives, helping us know it’s possible to have great hair. Imagine how us women suffered 30 years ago with no support. My story is similar to many and I have been wearing wigs occasionally in public and to work for about 6 months. I have released myself and enjoy it. However, the hardest part for me has been getting acceptance from my husband of 23 years. I have tried to make light and have fun with it, still I feel him being uncomfortable and perhaps embarrassed about it in public, around his friends & co-workers. It is still new with us but he is starting to see how happy it makes me and has stopped calling me the ‘weird hair lady’. God Bless you Taz for giving so many of us encouraging words.

I'm very late to this video but thank you Taz and everyone. You help me have courage and not feel alone.I don't know anyone else with female hair loss. Actually almost all my friends have beautiful, lush hair which makes me feel worse. I despise being vain in every way. I'm 60 and I started losing my hair gradually since my 20's. I've done Toppik, extensions, you name it to disguise the thinning and I've been wearing human hair toppers for about 10 years now. I'm a very private person. I've only told a handful of people that I wear a "hairpiece". I ask them not to tell others. I caught my sister who I trusted more than about anyone, telling her best friend :( I can't believe how much attention they have caused over the years. Many people (mostly other women) are so intrusive. I get asked what am I using, what am I taking, what's different, your hair looks so much better etc., I don't think it ever occurs to them it's not my real hair! It makes me so uncomfortable, I want to run away from them. I would never interrogate other people this way. I'd just say you look great and leave it at that. I realize it's my own sensitivity and embarrassment too. I want to stop coloring my hair soon so I'm trying to get used to wigs. I know I'll have to "come out" once I do. At least I'm retired now so I don't have to face the daily public scrutiny. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Hey Taz it's Connie again. Just watched your video and it was perfect timing. As I shared in my last comment on another video people have been SO cruel to me and almost pulled my wig off. I've been working on getting the nerve to wear a different color and style and finally did a FB Live video on my journey as it's been 1 month today that I started wearing the same wig. Hate it when people ask me omg are you wearing a wig and the emotions are to many to mention. After watching this video I know without a doubt that God sent me to you to medicate me in so many ways you have no idea. The statement you said about touching hearts OH SIS I can't even begin to imagine the number of women that you have given a renewence of life, self esteem and self confidence. Thank you for being the inspiration to a 71 year ole gal that is daily learning to embrace my new journey. Wish I had started this years ago! God is using you in such a mighty way sis, oh yes He is!

What is so hard is seeing people you have always seen before wig wearing....then suddenly, they know you are the same person, and wondering what is up??? After chemo my hair started falling out so my niece went with me to help pick out a wig. I ended up with one almost the exact same hair color as my own only with some highlights in it. I could have wore scarves but chose not to, at least not out and about in public. I trimmed up the wig to fit my face and my style. My doctor loved it and thought it was my hair, he loved it a little too much by his reaction LOL. No one ever asked me if I had a wig on, it looked that natural on me. Hope this too helps someone.

Thank you for the advice. I bought my first wig because the salons were closed because of the pandemic. I missed my hair style. I worked as a salesperson in a clothing store. I loved dressing up and fixing my hair. I used the flat iron, not good for the hair. I bought a wig similar to my trendy hairstyle and color. Loved it felt sassy lol. The benefits are that I don't have to straighten my hair and my wig has highlights. I can save money by not dying my hair or getting highlights so expensive. I took a picture wearing my wig and posted it. Got compliments on my hair no one knew. Looks natural. Still haven't gone out yet. Working up the courage. After watching your video I feel ready now. Thank you!!

Taz, I so admire all of your videos, but this is by far the best! Because it is so truthful and motivational, I wish everyone with hair loss issues could watch this. The wearing of a wig is really an intimate issue, on par with what type of lingerie we may be wearing, or am curious to wear. At least, to me, a wig-wearer out of necessity (for 20+ years), it feels like an intimate part of my life. I don't share my status with everyone I encounter, but many close to me know that I wear wigs. I had to learn on my own the skills of wig-wearing; now, we here are so fortunate that we can learn from you and others via RU-vid! You are really a wig advocate, did you know that?! Thank you for taking the time and effort to advance our cause for wig-wearing. Much love to you from a 58-year-old woman with hair loss in Texas!

I know this is an older video, but I just wanted to say thank you so incredibly much. I’m a guy who has recently been experiencing intense hair loss and thinning due to medication that I am taking. I’ve played around with the idea of wearing wigs in my head (I’m “younger,” 26 y.o), but I am just so scared to make the jump. I’m just worried about what everyone around me is going to think and how to navigate dating.. like if someone likes me with a wig or a piece, if they would still like me knowing the truth. But this video gave me so much confidence. I ordered my first wig and I am so excited to try it out. I am definitely going to follow some of the tips in this video. You are such a sweetheart and seeing you so confident, free, and open about this makes me feel like there is hope for me, too. Thank you so much for this. I watched a couple other videos, but none of them really hit home for me like this one did.

Taz, no one could have explained it better. You are a smart and considerate lady to realize how other NEW wig wearers would feel. I've worn them for so long that I'm not bothered by insecurity, but everything you said I absolutely felt many years ago when wigs were not so popular. Now it seems everyone has some form of hair help, be it wigs, extensions, toppers, etc and really no one thinks anything of it. So once again, thank you pretty lady for being so kind. Sylvia

Great talk, Taz! I like what you said about being upbeat and having prepared answers. When I "came out" with wigs it was interesting what people would ask. Some were worried; they thought maybe I had cancer. My hair has been thinning gradually over a long time and I have been camoflaging my issues with powders, etc., so they probably didn't notice. It took me about eight months to decide I was going to wear wigs full time, and what a relief it has been to not have to struggle with hair. One thing that has worked well for me is I started with a wig that was close to my former style. It made it much more comfortable for me to get started and still feel like myself. 😊 My husband and I like to take cruise vacations and wig-wearing has been a Godsend. It saves so much time and energy and my hair always looks great!

I love your beautiful personality. You can see how much compassion you have for your subscribers, but also with people you encounter in your everyday life. I wrote to you before about going through chemo and my hair not growing in thick. It's like baby thin I can see your skull hair. My question is how would I tell what would look nice on me. I had a custom made wig, but it's very lose now since some of my hair grew in. So I am not afraid to go out in public, but do fear wearing the wrong wig especially if I want to order it online. Another question is you and your best friend are married God bless you both and family. I'm 54 breast cancer mastectomy, hair loss and probably dentures due to all the chemo. So how does a person like me go out and feel pretty or good enough to date someone. I was married for over 20 years then he left for young person. So now I'm here like God I would love to find someone to spend the rest of my life with, but all the things I mentioned above holds me back. I've become a hermit. I only go to church, concerts and other Church events. Any advice? Thank you and I apologize for the long messages. God bless you. ❤

The best way to overcome the sense of insecurity , is to go on a date by yourself. Get foxy, hair, makeup look in the mirror and say out loud...damn girl, you're beautiful! Shake your hiny while you get ready, put some music on and bounce out that door with a big smile on your face. Hit the movie or wherever you go..and once you do it you will want to do it again..mark my words hunny. Also units nowadays have adjustable straps on them. You can find out your face shape and look online or in magazines to see what style flatters your facial features. Hit me up if you have more questions, beautiful!

Dear Maria, I just re-read your post from a month ago and was touched by your comments and questions. I would encourage you to "go on 'dates' with JESUS! I'm serious, only not just that but He is with you ALL the time and is the LOVE of your life. He sees us at our worst but loves us like the most beautiful desire of his heart! When Jesus is the LOVE of your life, you become so satisfied within yourself, that you become attractive to others. Seek him first and He will give you the desire of your heart! Resist the desire to become a total recluse, keep going to church which is the best place to meet someone. But even if you dont, or until you do, fix a lovely meal for you and The Love of Your Life, Jesus, light some candles, put on some pretty praise and worship music, talk to him (no it's not crazy, it's part of honest prayer) and bask in his presence. I have been married for 37 years but was single for 8 years after a divorce, during which time after 6 years of singleness, I came to know the Lord! I was so happy with my new True Love (Jesus) that I was content in my singleness. I do understand your feelings and will pray for your tender heart to be at peace during this season of your life. You are deeply loved by the One who is love personified! I hope you get this message! 😙! Susannah

@@susannahwilson7790 Thank you so much for such beautiful words of encouragement. You are truly sent by God to speak these words into my life. I do have the other side of my bed prepared for the lover of my soul Jesus. I talk to him everyday no matter where I'm at. I haven't try the dating Him, but I will definitely will. I have been single for 23 years. I raised 4 amazing children and have 5 beautiful grandchildren. I am a blessed woman. I also been through a lot in my life, but I never had let go of His mighty hand. Pray for me if you remember it your time of prayers. One of the verses I prayed and stood on was palm 118:17 and a couple of others. I have to say that through my whole life that's including my childhood God has never failed me or left me alone. Even though sometimes I felt like He did. I am not perfect, but l do trust God. Bless you for your beautiful soul and caring enough to re-read my comment. I believe that was all God's plan. Have a beautiful bless day. Thanks for the inspiration. My mom wore a Wiglet when she was in her Started wearing a wig in her late 50's. She had hair loss. I saw that I was having hair loss in my late 60's. I have very fine hair. I was following my mom which I wasn't ready for. I retired at age of 72. I look good except for see thru hair which embarrassed me. I didn't like my picture taken. I told my husband that it was time to purchase a wig. Found a wig store, and the woman helped me. Walked out with the perfect wig for me. Sent pictures to my friends. They all loved my hair. I went out and people I knew said to me, wow, you look great. I told them changed my hair color. Even my friends that knew I was thinking about a Wig couldn't believe it was a wig. I gave me more confidence. Bought a different style same hair color, my husband loves it. So thanks again for all the inspiration.

What a great video! I did exactly what you did and came out right away. I bought my first Noriko wig...."Morgan" in Copper Glaze R... put it on and it was an amazing experience for me. I felt so good in it. I felt confident. I felt free. My gosh....I had hair! I went grocery shopping and someone asked , who cuts my hair? My next venture was going to church . I admit I was nervous. However "I" was confident that it looked good. "I" felt good in it. I think that is the key. People who know me of course knew it was a wig. However everyone loved it and everyone was kind and encouraging. And strangers ask what salon do I go to? We all have our way of experiencing different things for sure. Having hair loss of any kind is devastating to us gals. Taz, you gave great tips and tricks on how to step out with your first wig. Thank you for your encouragement, grace and SPUNK. Sue, ditto my same response! When i first came out with my new hair, the gals i was closest to knew, cause i told them ahead of time, but the guys at our small church were like, "I like your hair, it looks good!" But they didn't really know or understand what was going on. Now they know cause I've changed long for shorter, etc. I don't mind people knowing at all but you just do what's appropriate. If i get complimented, I might tell a total stranger or someone I've just met cause I think they might be interested in wigs if they know how good they can look!

I found this helpful info today, and a year ago I wore my new wig to a quilting group I belonged to, all stared and no one said a word or spoke to me, I was so embarrassed, and ashamed, and after 2 hrs. of this I left and never returned. I wear it in public where no one knows me, but not to any other craft group I belong to. Not only did I have a melalona cut out top of head, 3 years ago, I lost my normal style and now tease what I have to hide that, and have now lost my fringe as its all getting so thin, and I keep it short pixie style. I live in Australia where wig shops are only in big citys, so shopping by internet is the go, expensive and of course no returns. Thankyou for what you do to help others, wig wearing is surprisingly, such a hard emotional journey. Taking a full length photo/movie is such a good idea, as it is what others see of you. ❤ Chris 71yrs young.

I'm in the early stages of all of this. Recently diagnosed with alopecia. I'm 37, and I've had gradual hair loss for about 11 years or so. It started with massive telogen effluvium sheds, and triggered early onset alopecia a couple of years ago. I work from home, I'm a hiker, I eat clean, enjoy video games, barely wear any makeup, rarely wear jewelry outside of a couple of cartilage ear piercings & a nostril piercing, and these days I barely ever even wear a bra. So, the concept of putting something foreign on my head is really hard to wrap my head around. But on the other hand, I was a really beauty in my 20s with beautiful fine, but dense, hair. I still care about my appearance, very much! I know I'm missing something, and I'm so, so tired of touching and fixing and pruning my natural hair every morning to hide the ever increasing thinning areas, even from myself and my husband, let alone going out in public. I've purchased a wig, but the color was off, so I have to return it. I'm working on finding the one that clicks, but even then, I know I'm going to have a challenge when it comes to making my first trip to the store and seeing the cashier I see every week. Let alone meeting my extended family or something. But in a way, I'm almost in a worse boat now because I'm having to create this over extended routine on my increasingly thin, limp, weak hair just to feel brave enough to go out. It's a conundrum! I read something recently that you can think of it like getting braces or glasses, and your story about your first day at work reminds me of that. Just being out and proud about it seems like the best policy. I'm admittedly still desperately trying to cling onto my natural hair. I'm a couple of months into using minoxidil, but as I stated before, I'm kind of "granola", so the idea of taking or using a chemical doesn't necessarily feel right either. I can see a reality where I just give up on that, but I also still want that sensation of having my hair back. I was just doing some Googling on how to break that ice mentally and emotionally and came across this video. I just wanted to say thank you. I smiled almost the entire time. You're very warm and welcoming. I wish you were in my area so I could come hang out with you for a while and you could help me out in person. My city has one "legit" wig boutique, but it's ran by a couple of women who don't have hair loss. No offense to them, but I would really enjoy the opportunity to work with someone who has actually gone through what I'm going through.

I feel if people say to me, your hair looks so good and different I will say thank you! No other explanation needed. After all, it is MY hair. I own it. LOL

You learn so much about the great quality of wigs today! I can recognize them on women on the news now!! I laugh and tell my husband that’s a Kristen by Jon Renau or another by Rachael Welch! Many flight attendants wear then because of the lack of time and being on the job so quickly and overnight layovers. I found that out from a friend. We are learning how to also have them styled to our faces. It does make a difference of how they look on us. We have to learn to fix them like our hair. One wig is for wearing a long time but one trip every 6 wks for cut and color is expensive. It also damages our hair! I just jumped into it after getting scoliosis and couldn’t manage my hair. Got a wig and kept buying more but now I am going to learn more about trimming, cutting and styling. I was never happy with the colors the salons put on my hair. Gray is hard for the younger hair stylist to do. So now I get the color I want and style! Wigs are my Gigs now!!! Love the quality, styles, colors and so many choices! I pray the makers don’t stop with this virus going around!!! Thanks Taz, you are fantastic and so beautiful! You teach us so much! Keep us up on everything!! What about the scarves and hair bands? So many accessories to wear!

I'm so glad I found your video. I'm new to wigs, been wearing mine now for about two weeks. The more I wear it the more I love it and the more confident I feel. But today I had a traumatic experience. I walked into a party and everyone commented on how great my hair looked, which made me feel really good. Then my gf's dad asks me, in front of the room full of people, if he can wear my wig at Thanksgiving. He repeated it more than once. I know he was just doing it for laughs, but it was at my expense. And he's clueless when it comes to having any cooth in public settings. I was so embarrassed to be put on the spot like that in front of everyone. I clammed up and went to bathroom to cry and breath, and try to shake off it off. As soon as I got home I started trying to find something to help me deal with situations like today...... so, THANK YOU for this video. ❤️❤️❤️ It has helped so much.

Oh my goodness, how insensitive of that man! He truly is socially clueless..lol. Wow.. I'd say you were really tested. It will make you stronger. I suggest having some "ready answers" if you encounter things like this.. like for instance "I understand you are trying to be funny, but I fail to see how it's helpful. Are you trying to embarrass me?" My go to response is always "YESSS! I found wigs due to some hair issues and I kept wearing them because they are so much fun!" Hold your head high. Blessings XOXO

i'm golng to rip off another bandaid tomorrow. i started wearing wigs in late july. i work for a nonprofit and i work alone in an office; i receive clients but tomorrow will be the first time i go before the entire board room in my wig. a few board members have seen it at smaller meetings and i got a few side ways glances from them but i survived. i am scared about tomorrow. with me its very obvious, i had almost no hair ......chemo from cancer therapy and genetic hair loss on top of that,.,,,,,so it is utterly obvious that something is radically different to those who have some history with me. i've watched this video several times and i am so grateful for it......i don't know why i am scared because almost every reaction i've gotten has been very positive. its been the sideways ones that creep me out. its funny i went to my doctor's office on friday and i ddidn't think much about the idea that is was my "first time" in a wig to go there.,.,..,when doc came in the room he did a double take and said....you look different but it was almost like he couldn't or didn't want to say how.....i thought seriously dude.....you've been my doc for how many years and you don't know what is different about me??? i laughed.....i wil survive tomorrow somehow. i guess because the board is my super boss......it makes me nervous somehow. but given that the president ordered me to get one because they wanted to present me for an honor and i neeeded a professional headshot.....i'm just following orders. though i don't know how many of them know what she told me to do. i'm unquestionably glad i did this and i feel better, more confident every single day ......god bless you taz i love all your videos and thank god for you every day
