Why this film didn't win an Academy award for special effects is beyond me.

Lucas should have held off the Star Wars trilogy. He should've know that they would forever be overshadowed by this jewel.

As utterly horrendous as the special effects and sub-Ed Wood model work are, I have to admit there is a certain "coolness" to some of the visuals that is kind of hard to define.
