Back in Alaska for caribou a second time and this time we're joined by our good friends from the HUSH crew! Casey, Brian, and Logan join Luke and Mack for another adventure on the North Slope of Alaska. Tough weather and a slow migration make for a more challenging hunt than the year before but that doesn't stop the guys from having a great time.

Was just up by Prudhoe Bay and did a diy Caribou hunt 7 miles off the Dalton 3 weeks ago. It was fun.

Casey pre making dinners is so nice. That's the guy you want in camp. I went on a hog hunt last year in the very southern part of MO and we over spent and under utilized our only walmart run of the trip. So this year, for that same trip, I ended up premaking and freezing our dinners!

I own a weatherby hush edition in 6.5-300 wby. Action definitely isn't as smooth as my mark v rifles but it is definitely lighter in weight. I upgraded the trigger to a timney trigger got it down under 2lbs and now it's a great rifle to carry long distances. Accurate and low recoil 👍👍

From all the Alaska hunts i have seen…it rains a ton in Alaska. I spent 7 days there and the one day it didn’t rain was awesome, if you could only control the weather, paradise

I love watching Eric Clapton hunt a.k.a. Brian. As we say in my camp “kill a big one“.

Great video. Thanks for posting this. It is always nice to see the struggle as well as the success in these videos! It puts the whole hunt in perspective!

A Leatherwood ART automatic ranging trajectory scope would've help take the guess work out of ranging. A Vortex or a Leopold with a Horus Tremor III scope would've worked too.

What are your recommendations for boots? What works and what didn't? I'm going for caribou September 1st 2023.
@weatherby
@weatherby 2 года назад
There's a lot of different opinions on which boot might be best for Alaska, the only surefire answer we've found so far is find a good way to dry them.

How thick are caribou hides compared to whitetail deer/elk/moose?
@weatherby
@weatherby 2 года назад
Not as thick as elk or moose for sure. Probably very similar to deer.

If I might help, my uncle lived in Alaska and would successfully hunt them with a 280 Remington using 140 Partitions leaving the barrel a little over 2950 fps. I hope that helps.
