Excellent tutorial, in fact the best I've seen. Exactly what I was hoping to learn. Thank you !

Thanks for your words. Really glad if it's useful for you! Honestly this video was one of the hardest to edit, I looked for a balance between oils process and getting excessively boring. Cheers

The weathering on the axe handle is perfect! Excellent tutorial! Thank you.

Thanks for your comment. US tank had their tool painted in olive drab like the rest of the vehicle, but obviously when used the paint tended to chip. Of course it´s a super useful effect for our models.

@@notjustpanzer Yes! I remember Veterans telling me they painted everything green! They would have painted the food green if they could have!

That´s right. Even in some places the distributed toothbrushes have a green plastic color.

Great job thanks for sharing. If using acrylic for rendering will it have the same effect?
@notjustpanzer
@notjustpanzer 15 дней назад
I don't recommend you to use acrylics in this way. Acrylics dry much quicker and you don't have enough time to blend the colors properly, that's the oil's advantage.

Good work, I am working on the same model so for sure will still some ideas :) I think that oil filters help a lot on pre-dusting.

@@notjustpanzer one question - what happens between enamel dusting and oil filter I assume there was no varnish applied so what is the drying time to make sure that when we apply thinner for oils we don't wash out the enamel dust?
@notjustpanzer
@notjustpanzer Год назад
@@aleksanderbukowski5684 You are right, nothing happens between the two videos. How I applied acrylic barnish after basecoating. There is no need to apply more protective barnish because we are working with oils and enamels

Do you use a gloss varnish before all of the weathering? Thanks for the video tutorial!
@notjustpanzer
@notjustpanzer Год назад
I varnished the entire model with satin varnish just after placing the decals. I prefer satin finish instead of a glossy one, so the model doesn't look like a plastic toy. If interested I leave you the link to the first Sherman video where I show varnishes I used: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-otTkrJjO25c.html Cheers.

hello, will I get the same effects if I use only three colors when rendering? What three colors do you recommend?
@notjustpanzer
@notjustpanzer 13 дней назад
Hi, well obviously the effect won't be exactly the same if you render 3 colours instead. But you can still it try using 3 oil colours ( I would take colors with different values, maybe grey/ yellow, green and raw umber).
@ajinomotoe
@ajinomotoe 12 дней назад
@@notjustpanzer The reason I asked is because I only can afford tree colors of oil paint. lol Thank you and keep up the good work

Sorry, did you do a coat of varnish between oil rendering and pin wash? Or just after decals? Thanks. Model looks great.
@notjustpanzer
@notjustpanzer 9 месяцев назад
Hi there I applied a varnish coat just after the decals (satin varnish). That is the only time I usually use varnish. If you let the oils to dry for a few hours, you will be able to apply washes without worrying.

One thing you need to do is the first scale foot of the main gun isn't painted. Burnished metal. Very shiny. Its where the main gun recoils and the and the barrel goes back into the hull. Nice job otherwise

You are right, Will. That effect will be showed in the next video (spoiler maybe?). On the other hand, I really appreciate your interest, thanks for your support!
