I agree, I never had a weave, just had my final relaxer saying good bye to the chemicals although I do not have bald spots or edges etc as always relaxed with a professional and relaxed no less than every three months and made sure I greased up my scalp with vaseline before relaxer day, did not wash for a week, and did not scratch my scalp etc. I have never understood the allure of weave. I see other black women with them stank weaves flicking and touching it like its their real hair. It's an insecurity about afro hair; I admit I relaxed because I wanted 'pretty' hair although I grew up in the 80's and there was not much else from perms and relaxers back then. Every time I sit next to a weave wearer this awful smell wafts out; its smells like a putrescent sweetness but with a sour tinge, like all of the products, rain, sweat and dead skin mixed together. It's definitely some kind of voodoo, as these women think it looks good but it does not; at least relaxed hair has some texture to it, but bone straight plastic or other ethnicity hair just looks stupid. The ones who glue their wigs on are another topic....that is some straight up samurai shit right there with them glued on up-do's. They will lie and say "I am protecting my hair" or "I don't have time to care for my hair; I have a busy lifestyle" but it's all nonsense! I estimate that going to a salon and having a weave sewn in for hours takes longer than doing a wash, condition and twist out on natural hair. A lot of these women do not like washing their hair either; they just want to go to the salon. What is so funny, is that if it really is all about not having time, or protecting their hair, why do they always buy the most straightest hair (or wavy occasionally) i.e. why don't they buy hair that matches their natural texture...? This is what non-black women do; they buy clip in's to match the natural texture of their hair. But you rarely see weave wearers buying a 4c or 4b weave...

@@Superlife1369 as a person who is experiencing 4c hair . I stopped wearing weave considering how short my hair is and my hair started FALLING OUT. Weave is often used to protect the hair and prevent breakage and retain length. Which helps the hair grow. I would much rather use synthetic hair than no weave at all. My hair started retaining length and finally growing when I had started using weave. Now my hair has breakage split ends and extreme dryness . I have used products to help it but it Is not how it is been before . My hair used to be to my shoulder now it is nearly ear length. I AM NOT SAYING WEAR POSSESSED HAIR!! I am rather saying wear something that you know will protect your hair. I regret taking weave out . I should of just changed the type of weaves I was wearing!

I've worked in retail and 80% of the women had extensions and there was only two black girls including myself. At the salon they would do extensions on white girls the most. I would buy one track, they would buy 5. More women are bald then you think.

That's not true at all because I know people and are related to people with darker and more Afrocentric features that have long straight hair, wavy hair and fine curly hair.
