Your weaving is phenomenal. I cant wait to try it myself! I have a huge number of embroidery hoops, yarn, shuttles, fibers, and other goodies so I'm gonna do that as my craft project tomorrow! :) thank you so much for your excellent instructions!!
Thanks for this tutorial. I tried to do a weaving like this, but didn't know about the key step of interlacing the warp thread, so the warp was more like two warps, one on each side. It's something that could work in its own way, but the way you showed was the effect I was wanting.
Extremely well put together vid - can't wait to sculpt on it using i-cord thickness cranberry color yarn and then some embroidery floss for different depths.
This is really great! I just decided to try circular weaving and have a secondhand embroidery frame that I figured could work for it. Thanks for the tips!
I'm obsessed with this - can you do some more?? I'm a crocheter and aspiring knitter who would probably loooove weaving, but I need some low commitment small projects first.
I have wanted to try weaving for a while but I didnt want to buy a whole loom in case I flack and dont do it. But a circular weaving sounds wonderful! I can easily find an embroidery hoop and make one for my sister for Christmas!!! I am so excited now!
Just got me a new starter loom thanks for showing me a way with different shape loom I have a round cardboard circle think I could do something similar with it.
Wonderful idea! I was wanting to try to weave something with my yarn, but I don't have a traditional loom. I have LOTS of embroidery hoops, though! lol
Thanks for the tutorial. The instructions are clear and concise. (Contrasting colors for the surface and warp would have been helpful, however. My eyes are old)
Thanks for the great tutorial, it gave me an idea on how to start with the right foot. Very much appreciated! One small feedback, maybe use a darker background so that the contrast helps us the viewers follow the actual stringing/looming, maybe one of those mats for cutting or made of foam so that the noise of the ring touching the wood is not distracting.
Thank you for your video. I bought a circular loom but didn't know how to set it up. I would like to say if you make any future videos, maybe your thread or your desktop could be a different colour. Very hard to see the details in this video.
great idea but it would have been helpful too have used a contrasting colour.....tablecloth to warping yarn....easier to see what you are doing. Finishing the edges really interests me more as that could be tricky. Thanks
I usually lurk and give a thumbs up, but this time I would like to thank you for this tutorial. Do you mind if I make a video of me making one, and refer to your video as the tutorial and inspiration?
Oh thanks! I don’t take the weaving off the hoop. I keep it on the hoop for display and I think if you take it off the hoop it will likely not be stable enough to stay together.
Great video, thank you! I was brought to your channel from a link in one of this DIY What you can do with cardboard. I am so interested. I want to go thru my stash to find some things that would match my living room colors. Going to make one very soon!
I just tried this awesome tutorial, I am having a hard time keeping my warp strings in place, they slide along the side. Am I maybe pulling them too tight?
Oh great! Glad you’re trying this one. Yes the warp yarn might slide around a bit at first. It just needs some friction to prevent slipping off. So it’s about making it tight enough not to slip but not so tight that I won’t stay in place. Eventually when you start weaving in your weft yarn, the weft will stabilize the warp threads and they will be less likely to move around. Good luck!
So if you wanted to get badass with this, you could hypothetically buy a hula hoop and get busy with it. Do something big for a wall hanging or something. That would be cool.
That’s a great consideration! I think it never really crossed my mind because I was intending on going back and forth and weaving “chunks” as opposed to weaving all the way around … but yes, that would be very helpful.
Thank you for the post. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've tried, I can't seem to get the yarn to stay in place, and it eventually all just sort of slides off to one side in a tangle. I will keep trying though :)
I was using some chunky superwash yarn, but you can use anything. I opt for chunkier yarns (or double up thinner yarns) so that I get more coverage, faster.
