George HumbleRoad saying “expect things to break!” and “Access” all this time and seeing it in action is so satisfying! This may be the shortest van “repair” project I have seen. Thanks for sharing!
You absolute Heroes! Here we are. Scottish New Year. No engineers available for over a week, and then a blank cheque reqd. BUT! Ten minutes after finding your video, we were all toastie and warm. Thank you soooo much. P. S. We have an Air Top Evo M controller and your fix worked first time. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the info at 7:16. My Webasto AirTop Evo 55 was blinking 5 times quickly and it wouldn't start heating. I've had this happen in the past where it resolved itself after a period of time, however this time it was not going away. Following these instructions to reset the lockout solved the issue for me!! I read through several Webasto manuals for various heaters and this reset procedure was not mentioned anywhere.... unbelievable ha ha! This is why I also have a wood stove!!
well at least you CAN do these resets/repairs yourself. these are just part of the full-time van life adventures, have to look at it as part of your learning curve, as you haven't had the van that long. thank goodness it was an easy fix. Carey-on!!
Thanks so much for this video! Our setup is almost exactly like yours and this worked beautifully! One note: Ours did stop because our fuel went below 1/4 tank. After the reset, we needed to try starting the heater a few times. This filled the fuel line and primed the system.
Just piling on here from 10,000 feet in 2023 Colorado. Thank you for the time stamp too! I ran ours down to 1/4 tank. Oops. I was told to be careful about running it at 1/4 tank; not that it was a HARD NOPE. XD
Colin and I are so glad you are both o.k. and yes that little Pistol looks like she is a heater. What a blessing your little buddy is. Take care of yourselves and we are watching to make sure you are both safe. Thank you for your share...Carolyn and Colin Hogarth Canada.
Heat! I have glorious heat!! Thank you for posting this video! I started with code F00 then after following this it changed to code F01- which I knew meant to try several times after waiting about 4 minutes each attempt and viola! Thank you again!!
All my family is in that area And Santa Rosa and Kenwood. Sounds like everything is about to shut down again. Hope you can enjoy the area. Love the hot spring pools at the Calistoga Inn.... waters are amazing!
Carey On Vagabond yeah we were going to visit family in CA but we won’t step foot in the state Told family to call me when the governors gone Safe travels back up north now~
So glad everything worked out with a learning experience and some anxiety. Good attitude and so decent of you sharing the whole experience. Now go drink some wine as it's 5 o'clock somewhere.
Thanks a million for sharing this! We were experiencing the same problem but now we're toasty again thanks to your video tutorial! Huge thanks to you both!! Happy travels!
Hi guys😃 good maneuvering in and out of that space Dave and Irene. Good job George labeling everything otherwise may have been a bit harder to find and fix🤗🤗🤗. Stay warm and Carey on😃
So glad it wasn’t too hard to get your heater working. I’m still waiting to try mine out. It’s getting very close though, almost done. I can’t imagine having to crawl around in such a small space, and I’m sure I’d likely nit fit lol. I love your van and hope that doesn’t happen again. Happy and safe travels guys🚐🐶❤️
Hey, thanks for sharing this info. I have the gas Webasto too. I don't have the digital thermometer. Every so often mine will cut off just after starting. I have to turn it off and wait about 20 seconds. Then start again. Always works. Your info will be helpful too! Thanks!
So good that it worked out. It is probably George who has made a little prank and for you to appreciate the webasto heater. Maybe an electric heating blanket is under purchase?
As a 60 y.o half fatso, that's my biggest concern with vanlife at this age :) BUT, like You said, paying someone to do it is great, until it gets to expensive and that once a year gymnastics/yoga session is OK... :) Or it's an excellent reason to get in better shape.
According to the factory shop manual the heater goes into lockout mode after the error count increments up with each fault it sees. The hard reset resets the fault count back down to 0.
my heater was cleaned and serviced by a company that does that, now that i got it back and hooked up the pump does not work and i tried a pump that i know works and it dont work there either.
Based on my Webasto experience: At least once a week - run the heater full blast for at least 15 minutes continuously. After a night of use, run it full blast for at least 15 minutes before turning off. If using in high altitude, run it only on full blast and vent the van to not get too hot. Running at full blast seems to burn off / prevent carbon build up. If you do get carbon build up and see white smoke and running it at full blast doesn't stop white smoke, then it probably will need to be taken apart and cleaned. Running full blast is the ounce of prevention to avoid the pound of cure
Thanks! Webasto sent a installer instructor to verify our builder and together they installed our system. He did tell us to do this and we have. He said at least every month run it on high for 20 minutes. Especially due to our small well insulated van. I agree with you. An ounce of prevention.😉
Thanks for sharing your heater troubleshooting 👍 Dave you have to install another bike tray in that area and Irene can slide you in for easy access For troubleshooting Haha 👍
So , im curious , was it a one-time thing or have you had to do a reset since. I have a webasto EVO and every so often it goes into a dormant phase where the inside temp drops 10 degrees before it fires back up
If I was a meat eater, I might say that you saved my bacon! I was experiencing the same issue. Controller worked great but the heater wouldn't start. After a reset, it's working and I'm toasty roasty once more! Thanks so much for sharing. I'll make sure to mention you and your youtube channel on my next podcast! Susan vandogger.com
Thank you for sharing! We put this video up and said if it helps just one person that would be awesome! So glad it worked for you! Will check out your link;)
They both definitely have their benefits and downfalls. We always look at small class C’s and think maybe someday. But after 4 years full time in B’s we still love it’ 🤷♂️
Save your "Fix-It" notes…you never know when you'll need it again…if you don't keep a notebook for those kinda things…you should. I kept one for 14 years of RV living and it was a lifesaver…that and a small box of quick fix box of spare parts.
Webasto is garbage. If you leave it un-used for month it blocks up and does not work anymore. And if you leave it un-used for 100 days, it even void warranty. Buying webasto you buy a problem and trouble and need to run it once a month for 30 min even is f***kin summer heat. And when you forget it VERY time consuming and expansive repair work of dismantling the whole device and scraping the carbon build up blocking the device inside. Not mention their rip-off scheme for remote control where you have to pay monthly fee (in addition to mobile carrier SMS/DATA fee) as wher 3rd party unlicensed webasto remote controllers only cost peanuts. When winter comes and you actually need the webasto it is most likely broken unless you have been babysitting it all summer.
So to be clear, pull the 1AMP fuse and NOT A THE 20AMP fuse? I’m having issues also and it’s only me doing this so I want to be sure I’m doing the right thing
@@CareyOnVagabond I’m still in here trying to make sure I’m looking at the correct fuse. Is it one of them that’s on the wiring to the heater? When I turn my manual knob, I’m not getting a light, but there’s power to the heater itself. I’m not great with electricity can’t you tell? My father connected it for me but that was it really. We couldn’t read the Russian manual and I ran out of time at my Pop’s place. Anything you suggest would be MUCH appreciated! I’ve watched this video tooo many times to count. Thanks for replying so quickly!
