Love my Weber Performer Deluxe. It's very basic, yet extremely versatile. Boat load of accessories available. I love everything about it. Easy to use, good fire management, easy ash removal and durable. Plus, most importantly it's a great cooker whether it's a steak, burgers, seafood, pizza, or chicken (indirect or rotisserie). It's very versatile. I'll be looking into joining the Weber Kettle Club. I'm sold.
Your videos inspired me. Due to your love of the Weber i decided Weber would be my Charcoal unit. (Have Weber gasser and Camp Chef Pellet). I was going to buy the new Performer Premium at our local Ace on Labor day. Low and Behold as a joke I looked at Craigslist. I just scored an AU (2012) Performer premium in amazing shape. It came with a Weber Chimney, The Weber cover, an unopened bag of Kings ford original, and a steel brush. $50!!!! Thanks to your videos I now have an awesome Charcoal grill. Tomorrow is all about grilling!
I have to say , though late to game here, I always thought the Performers were overpriced. Then I found a used one locally, and picked it and have confess having that table and gas ignition system has changed how often I use this kettle over my other grills and I have 9. So now I'm debating whether to sell this one and just get a new one. Mine has that lid that doesn't completely get out of the way and there's some rust, does cook well though. Thanks for the video and your enthusiasm.
That gen 1 has given me some ideas. Just bought a Mastertouch 22" when all the parts on my 98 Genesis gas grill decided to rust out at once. Already replaced the grates, flavor-bars and burners once about 10 years ago. Not sure I want to make that investment again. The cart, which is almost the same as the gen 1 performer, with a little bit of work would hold a 22" kettle. Hate to give up on the Genesis after 22 years of service but if it could live on as a DIY Performer, that might make it easier to say goodbye. Great video
Loved the video brother 🤙🏾 Killed me on the prices y'all pay. The small performer with the fold down table is a hot ticket over here in AUS, goes for $699 RRP 😪
Hey this was a great and informative video!! I do wish Weber would’ve kept the “handles” on the the Perfomer. It would’ve made it a lot easier to move rather than grabbing the sides of the table surface.
I've watched three straight videos while i'm sitting here at work, bro your channel is awesome!! I have now subscribed and hit the bell. very informative stuff man...keep'em coming!
I have two 3rd gen Crate & Barrel grass green performers bought used, they both came with the old style lid bales, plastic tables and were devoid of the GBS grates. The 4th generation performers had most if not all of those upgrades.
I have used weber kettles my entire life. However, I just got my first, modern, weber Performer Deluxe. I had to go with the Black. And my only concern is the tiny casters. I'm going to figure a way to put some 10 inch pnuematic wheels on it so it moves easier. (I'm disabled, so mobility is important. ) Im looking for a stainless full coverage flat griddle now. I might just make my own. I love the idea of making giant smokey omelets for an early breakfast before getting my smoke on. Thanks for the great vid btw!!! I love the weber History!!!
Wow.. Awesome and very informative video. Love your passion for these products. Gave me reassurance that Ive decided on a great grill. To be honest, really did not know as much about the gourmet system until you explained it and showed off the accessories. Thanks for your time in putting this together.
Nice video as always! I love the generation 1 and 2. My daily rocker is a gen 2. I love the appearance of the stainless steel front and the hooks (much better than the newer ones) The lid bail is a good hint! I’ll need to change that to a newer version! Has the part number been changed?
Sometimes I do jhitt79! I own the Weber Summit 670s (the big one). It’s great for quick and easy grilling! It’s also great to have a quick and easy ignition system for charcoal in the Performer Deluxe! That, along with the table and the charcoal storage, makes the Performer Deluxe a great tool to get the job done. My first Weber was a 22” red kettle that was the base model. It was 20 years old when I saved it from a yard sale where they only wanted $5 for it. I restored it and happily used it for 9 years before selling it to a friend and upgrading to the copper Performer Deluxe. I’m glad the red kettle is still being used today! I’m gonna flex a little: I also own the 18” Smokey Mountain, the Weber Q 1200, and the Jumbo Joe. Each one has its purpose, and I wouldn’t get rid of any of them!
Joey is Losing Weight Don’t get me wrong I really like Weber products in general. I personally have 2 Performers, 1 basic kettle, 1 14” kettle, 18” WSM, Q2000 (that I keep at work), and a Genesis silver b (for hot dogs n such.). I just think that when it comes to the performers, Weber is using their name to overcharge people. I don’t see the $300 value in a small table, a plastic bin, and gas ignition that I feel is on the wrong side.
jhitt79 I thinks it’s great you got one for $50! When I restored the old kettle, I spent about $30 in new parts, so in all I paid $35 when a new one cost $90 at the time. I’m glad I gave the old girl new life, and that she is still working for my friend and his family. I personally think the Performer Deluxe is worth the money. I bought one at full price and love it! I’ve recommended it to friends, but I’ve also told them just buy a Weber Kettle at whatever price point they can get one at, as the kettle itself is the same thing. The more you pay the more little things you get and I am glad to have the one with all the bells and whistles!
I have a deluxe performer from 2013, I think it is great, would recommend to any one. My only problem was with the auto ignition, gave me problems, now I turn on the gas and light with a lighter, no more problem.
Amen MIke!! And hey, thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Hey, if you could, Subscribe!! Hit like!!! Ring a bell!! It helps me get into the RU-vid world rotation, and it grows this channel!!
In my country deluxe goes for 639€. Thats closer to 700 bucks. But im still gonna buy it. That huge table, gas ignition, gbs accessories and add ons, timer and all the minor accessories and the overall Weber quality is worth the steep price.
I definitley could do without the starter but I like the storage basket and slightly larger work space of the mid teir model. Just sucks I would be drilling holes in any one of them for a probe port.
Like the video it's informative, I've got two gen three performers C&B green and they did not come with a metal table, improved lid bale and taco handle. That would be a gen four.
howdy! basically new to grilling, love your vids! i was just gifted an original 22 and feel like i'm gonna want to upgrade elements - any advice on what to prioritize? of course i'll be grilling all the basics but will want to smoke, too. slow n sear? hinged grates? different heavier grates? thanks!
We have a premium performer. I think we bought it in 2008-10. However it has a "P" code on the vent cover, which indicates a 1993 model. ?? I know it's newer than 1993. ??
Hey, I have a Webber 767001 22 1/2-Inch One-Touch Platinum Charcoal Grill I bought in 2004. Last year the plastic table cracked. This year it broke completely. I can’t seem to find a replacement table. Would the table for the Performer fit my grill. I ove my grill and don’t want to replace it just because the table is broke. Thanks
I am in the process of ordering the deluxe model and ask if you can recommend a fish grill that can accommodate a 3 lb salmon filet. Ace Hardware had an oval-shaped grill with red rubber handles with a hinge at the opposite, end but I can't find it through Amazon. I would share a photo of it with you but unsure how to do so in this comment (my ex-roommate owns the fish grills). thanks!
Weber Towne is a great place to live in. I buy them new and save all the poor babies that end up on the “ classifieds “ list . I may rehab a few and pass them on to deserving, honest, respectful parents. Kettle Klub is where it is at.
None of those are available in Australia, not the gas ones anyway lol those little gas tanks are illegal here So our Weber performers and summits don’t have the gas igniters on them, just a table
I just received my Weber 22 in. Performer Deluxe Charcoal Grill in Green about an hour ago. I just put it together but, what's that long chain with that wire attached that hangs from the inside for that was wrapped up and suck inside the front panel? I’m Not talking about the charcoal bucket wire. I found no illustrations or references about this. Thanks
I'm in the market for a new Weber. Had my 22" for over 10 years and it's starting to show. I'd do the performer but I think for the price I think it's cheaply made.
I have two performers, one was free the other was $50 used. The gas ignition is on the opposite side of where most people have the coals for indirect cooking. You can use it to light a. Charcoal chimney but that kind of defeats the purpose because you don’t need gas assist for lighting a charcoal chimney. The charcoal basket is creating twice the work as you need to dump the charcoal into the basket then scoop it out into the chimney or other. Receptacle for use. Why not skip the middleman, keep it in the bag and pour right into the chimney or charcoal grate or whatever. So is a table worth $300? You can get a nice folding plastic picnic table for $60 that is bigger and more versatile.
I’m glad you have two, I personally think upgrading to the Performer Deluxe made working with charcoal so easy that I am actually cooking with charcoal way more than when I only had the base kettle. I think the gas ignition starter is really in the middle, as that’s where I set my charcoal to light. I also love the charcoal baskets and really just use those to hold the charcoal. When the coals are lit, I use tongs and move the baskets where I want them. I still have my chimney from back in the day, and I use the gas burner to start charcoal when I want to light coals for my Smokey Mountain. When I lite coals on my Jumbo Joe I use Weber’s wax cubes.
Need to clarify your description of the wok.... It is NOT porcelain cast enamel. It is straight cast iron and is NOT seasoned out of the box. You MUST season the wok before using or your food will stick like cement from your first cook. I used flaxseed oil and a 500 degree oven and applied 6 coats before using.
You very well spoken, your cadence is so clear, good editing, I'd say upgrade mic, audio was not bad just could be better. Thanks for the info. Keep it up. Oh yah liked and subscribed👍👍👍
I didn't know older Webers are collector items. We just sold a house and moved. I had to limit the stuff we moved with. I put my 25 year old 22" Weber kettle on Craigs list for free. Can't believe how fast that went. I think Weber Performer Deluxe for me now. Last rodeo and all. Weber Summit just too big.
Excellent clip. Well done. Very informative. Thank You! (Regarding one of the previous and unnecessary comments................... ‘Profanity is the effort of a feeble mind to express itself forcibly’.
Great history info on performer. I have the fold down shelf version and love it. Wish it came in more colors but great overall. The wok is best accessory in my opinion. Chili in that bad boy is awesome.
I am just starting to really pay attention to Weber grilling techniques (and am embarrassed at how bad I have been) and your channel is SO informative. Thank you for the work you put in to making these videos! Subscribed now.
Just bought the new performer September 2019 and looks like a great grill. Not sure what orientation the chimney should be in order to light with the gas? Are you able to light the chimney, then pick up the chimney, and pore the hot coals into a slow and seer? Could you please explain.
Great video, I have had my 22 inch for 25 years along with my 25 year old propane grill, I like the propane grill for back up cooking here in earth quake Cali . You never know .
I have a 22" original series a neighbor was going to put out with the trash when he moved. The grates and one touch were burned out. A few replacement parts later, the old girl is still grilling 3 years later.
Just bought my first grill, a used Weber performer off marketplace. I am in the process of remodeling a house and getting married. Don"t have a lot of time or cash to spend on a grill. What would you recommend for budget charcoal grilling accessories? I'm the first in my family to get charcoal grill, I am a rookie at this.
I cooked on a smokey joe for a while and crammed some damn meat on it in my phasing out of propane grill. So replacing it i probably could have went with a master touch and been happy but went with the performer deluxe. Being able to roll it around the deck for sun and wind is great. So my idea of a side table and all wasn't needed with the performer. I use my smokey for the chimney after watching your channel! All in all I love the propane ignition cause I don't have to worry with the crumbling wax cubes. The only thing I will say is the digital timer is whatever for me. I think of they made a bluetooth thermometer that could snap in that same spot as a option would be bomb. Im loving it and thank you bro for the inspiration and info to make the purchase of what I wanted.
