Preforming this for my viola recital in high school ranks among the fondest of my memories, even though I don't take lessons anymore. I used this video to help me learn it, and though I never got this good, I used this beautiful performance as inspiration to strive to do better. Thank you!

I generally love this piece, so I enjoy every recording of it, but this one is definitely my favourite and I like to come back to it from time to time. It's played with so much playfulness and lightness and it perfectly captures the nature of viola❤ As a cellist I'm really impressed, cause I know how difficult it is to make a clean sound on a string instrument. I like the fact that the soloist doesn't dress up like a peacock. I always think that detracts from the performance. And here the soloist plays beautifully - a wonderful job!

Agh the bassoon version has way less solo material than the viola version 🤬

you play the viola a little like a former violinist. there is something lacking. it's perfect. but distant like there too little contact between the bow and string. Most violinists who switch never get the viola core sound right though technically perfect. i'm a student of karen tuttle and played professionally. I'm hope you consider it constructive and not deemed an attack. Your technique is otherwise superb.

I think there must be something wrong with the equipment you are listening on. It sounds very rich to me, great depth of sound on the lower strings. An excellent performance.

Generally tempo is too slow and soloist dynamics need to be pumped up a notch or two, too frequently you're overwhelmed by the small orchestra...it seems like you play almost the entire piece in the upper half of the bow.. and ouch, keep working on the intonation of those octaves!
