Today I'm showing you how I grill a spatchcock (butterflied) chicken on my fire escape.
Directions:
Starting with a 4-pound chicken.
Remove backbone with kitchen scissors and butterfly.
Season with olive oil, salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder, herbs de Provence, and fresh ground black pepper.
Roast on your Weber Q on low for one hour with a smoke pouch.
Take pictures of finished spatchcock chicken.
Post one of the pics on Instagram and bask in all the "likes."

As a fellow Weber Q owner, I just wanted to say thank you for all the videos with the Weber Q. You've shown me how to really expand my repertoire on that grill. I cooked this recipe today, but used your marinade from the Italian Chicken under a brick. The spatchcock chicken came out beautifully juicy and tender! Thanks again!

Sounds great! I've also made this marinade replacing the balsamic with Worcestershire. Totally delicious and worth a try. I've got another vid coming out today so stay tuned.

Once we open up the cabin again come springtime, I will definitely be making more Q videos. We're living in NYC for the winter, and I have nowhere to grill here. Cheers Knightcommander. Appreciate you watching.

They really are great little grills. That said, I still love using a Weber Kettle whenever I get the chance.

Excellent! My second grill on the Weber Q was a Spatchcock chicken. Tasty!
@GallaghersGrub

This is my second spatchcock chicken on this grill. The first one I spatchcocked was a smaller 3-lb chicken and I tried to grill it directly on the grates weighted down with a cast-iron pan. But the lid of the Q wouldn't close. Ended up just grilling it directly on the grates with no weight on top, and it came out delicious. This bigger chicken I decided to go indirect.

@GallaghersGrub

Weber no longer makes them available in the US market. I have a video about workarounds. You can check that out for dimensions of the rack, and use a double layer of foil for the pan.

Did you try to grill it directly on the grills??
@GallaghersGrub
@GallaghersGrub 6 лет назад
I did not. You might be able to do it that way, but it could be tricky because the skin may burn before the inside of the chicken is cooked enough.

What kind of wood you use
@GallaghersGrub
@GallaghersGrub 6 лет назад
With chicken it's best to stick with a fruit wood like apple or cherry. Save the hickory wood for pork.

Beer can chicken is not possible on the Q. The lid will not close.
@bijapurlegacy9299
@bijapurlegacy9299 4 года назад
@@GallaghersGrub , I have made an extra grate that stands below the Weber Q grate , it fits 3inces below the normal grate ,it give 7 or 8 inches space between lid and grate . It closes and gives require amount of space for beer can chicken. But the birds must b place in the centre ... It is possible if we try this way. You also try it .
