This version was originally purely mechanical, we added the electrical motor for presentation purposes. This one was built in 1960, but the basic model dates even back to 19th century.

What do you mean"Purely Mechanical" ？whether this loom didn't have an electric powered motor but used a central steam engine with a long training belt driving the flywheel of this loom？ Sorry I m not competence of German language. I like Saurer loom design with "Double loom frames" and all gears setting in the house of the double loom frames to eliminate a long crank shaft, and also the design of most loom parts was symmetrical that they could be used on left or right hand loom. Saurer loom was good to make light weight fabric but not fit to produce heavy fabric like 10 oz denim or above. Albert from HK and retired. @@albertlee8342 Sorry, I made a mistake here, I apologise. The loom was produced by Rüti, Switzerland. I removed the wrong confirmation from my earlier answer. Yes, by purely mechanical I mean that the loom was driven by a central steam engine and a leather belt transmission system.

@@historischemuseenreutlingen Sir, never mind. Before I worked with Saurer loom, I also had some repair experience for Ruti Type C, for 6 months. Yes both are Switzerland company that may also use Swiss motor named Brown Boveri Co.
