I have a doubt , sorry I was not able to join the session .Wanted to check how do we create software Procurement optimization like was example to give real time scenario how does AWS vs Azure , how as a Procurement manager goes by in optimising the cost , how can Procurement create strategic difference in cost , create value and additional value chain . This scenario comes after company has implemented technologies of both AWS and Azure , but Procurement team are expected to optimize the cost .
Thanks for posting this question. First of all, let me clarify that Azure and AWS are cloud services and not a software product. Now if one wishes to optimize the cost of these cloud services, the basic understanding on how the pricing is derived from their pricing tools (available on their website) and do a 3yr or 5yr TCO derivation. If the spend value on cloud services is decent enough, then you can also choose to negotiate in offline mode with the OEMs. There are many such ideas of optimising the cloud spend.
