Hi, thanks for the excellent presentation. Quick question, in some cases it is allowed to polarise samples with respect to reference electrode as well as open circuit potential - what is the purpose of this? What happens if one polarised wrt reference instead of ocp, would such lpr data be useful? Thank you

hello @Gamry Instruments, I wanted to ask what is the Rp and Ru (at time 10:06) I am trying to make experiments to calculate corrosion rate

Can this device be used in industries? With what electrodes? Is the working electrode the same metal as the tank or does another metal enter the tank? How are the connections?

A mask was used to define the active area for exposure to the electrolyte for LPR measurements. Would the size of the active area affect the magnitude of the measured current during the voltage scanning? The related question is: Was the Icorr as shown in Gamry Echem Analyst a current, or a current density (per the active area)? I will appreciate a clarification, as I have seen people using Gamry to report their results of Icorr by the unit of Amp and also seen other results in the unit of Amp/cm2. Thank you.

Yes. The larger the active area, the more current that will flow. All current measurements made in Framework are current, not current density. In Echem Analyst, the current can be displayed as either overall current, or area normalized current. This can be changed in the Echem Analyst Options. If you have additional questions, please contact one of our Support Engineers at techsupport@gamry.com. They will be happy to help further.

I did not get why you left the potential vs Eoc at zero and did not set it to the value of the measured OCP.

Hello, if I need to measure a corrosion of the coating on the stainless steel electrode in the absence of any solvent. How should I setup the experiment? Thank you
@gamryinstruments

You will need an electrolyte containing solution in order to conduct corrosion experiments. The setup described here would be a good place to start: www.gamry.com/application-notes/corrosion-coatings/corrosion-techniques-polarization-resistance/ If you have additional questions, please contact us at techsupport@gamry.com”
