Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide. There is currently no cure for PD, but focused ultrasound - a noninvasive, revolutionary technology - is FDA-approved to address the symptoms, including tremors, rigidity, and dyskinesia. Researchers are also investigating focused ultrasound’s ability to assist with PD diagnosis and monitor disease progression.
To commemorate Parkinson's Awareness Month, the Foundation hosted a webinar on the topic. A panel of experts provided a comprehensive overview of the current state of PD treatment options, including the latest advancements in focused ultrasound. The webinar also covered the status of insurance reimbursement for the treatment as well as a testimonial by a focused ultrasound patient with PD.

If someone has been diagnosed with BOTH essential tremors AND Parkinsons on BOTH left and right side, would they be a candidate for bi-lateral? My husband was diagnosed with ET many years ago, we kept testing for PD but it never showed until 2021 at the ripe old age of only 53. He is very active and physically fit. Taking Levidopa helps but don't like the side effects of any type of medication. Tried other medications for epilepsy but quickly stopped as he had terrible side effects.

Would you have someone like me who is active physically and not showing any signs of pd when controlled by the medicine. However, the full panoply of symptoms appear when not controlled by medicine such as; rigidity, frozen gait, etc. I was diagnosed in 2011 and by 2019 after years of appearing normal , I sought dbs surgery to control the dyskenesia that suddenly appeared due to the medicines I took. 2 and a half years later, I am the poster child of that patient the first presenter was describing. While the medicine was working properly initially, dbs has failed me. Can I now be ready for the ultrasound?
