Hi everyone!
I get asked quite often to do this type of look,
And I can see why. Just like with attire, I think it can be sometimes hard to navigate how to wear your makeup when you are attending a wedding.
So in this video I’ll be sharing how to get a makeup look that is everything you need: elegant, appropriate, glam yet understated.
All while keeping in mind the one golden rule- don’t try to out do the bride!
I hope you enjoy this look and find it helpful when doing your makeup for any special occasion not just a wedding.

So a bridal look is next? 😊 I’ve seen your Susan Yara bridal look, but let’s be honest.. when you’re about to get married, you can’t watch too many tutorials. I especially appreciate how you show every single step and not worry so much about the length of the video. 💗

@@Makeupbynikkilarose please please please can you do a bridal look? Plus tips about how to choose the right make up artist? My best friend is getting married and would love to know what we should ask the make up artist. Is it weird to ask them what’s on their kit? .. what foundations do they have? … she tends to be very oily so I’m nervous we trust someone that might not know about different skin types.. she and her fiancé live in North Carolina but the wedding is in Traverse City, Michigan (he is from Michigan) so should she find an local artist there, fly out to book a pre wedding makeup session or find someone local to them now and fly them out? 😭 I guess that’s a personal choice.. I’m the maid of honor and haven’t been able to find anyone that stands out. If you see this and can think of some tips on what to do would really appreciate it. Wedding is in September 2024. Idk if it’s too early to book or if this is the right time to do it. Thank you Nikki!

@@Makeupbynikkilarose can you do an event makeover like this, timeless and elegant, while using colors other than the browns and beige? Give it a little more life and vibrancy without being over board, while still being timeless and elegant? I know most go to the brown earthy tones for events but it would be nice to see some color brought in. Can you also show how to work facial oils into your routine, or point me to a video you did using a facial oil to prep the skin without it interfering with your make up or how long it wears? I absolutely love rosehip oil and others, but notice it can interfere with my makeup in good ways and bad ways and that’s using just a drop. I see Marlena of Makeup Geek always using an oil prior to foundation to give the makeup a slip to better blend but that doesn’t always work out and can break apart the makeup really quickly. Curious how you’d integrate an oil into your skincare and makeup regimen.

Agree! I’d love to see mauves or purples or something that pops a little more, but similar to this. This really is beautiful, but sees everyone does the neutrals.

@@Makeupbynikkilarose So many makeup artists say not to use concealer as an eye primer base or primer because it makes it harder to blend, has the shadow apply more dull, and can mix with the powders to cause texture and other issues. You do like to use foundation or concealer as an eye base, which is really convenient. Being a professional, do you find these problems and is there a real difference between using an eye primer vs concealer or foundation? Also I hear some of those in the industry say eye cream is an absolute must, while others say eye cream is gimmicky and the same as regular face moisturizer just with way less product for a lot more money. Where do you stand on buying an eye cream?

Im heading to a wedding this July in Italy and as a guest close to the bride I’ve decided to do my own makeup. I know the other girls in our group are getting it done professionally and I have been out of touch with my skills since having my infant and toddler. You have a very calming effect and I’m having high hopes for doing my own look. I do have most of the products you have but they have definitely collected dust. I can’t wait to see more videos, you apply your makeup so beautifully. Looking forward to seeing more videos!

Hi Nikki, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I actually learn something from each one and my makeup looks so much better. Learning from a professional is everything I wanted RU-vid to be but instead I got product pushing influencers that lead to cake face and consumerism. This weekend, I had a concert and used your method of applying the Fenty contour stick on the back of my hand first...game changer! My contour always looked muddy or would just blend away completely. This method gave me the shadow while looking like my skin. I also used the method for my Rare beauty cream blush and it looked amazing. Thank you!

I could follow along. Ty! I have hooded eyes (low crease) and my socket is very close to my eyebrows so contouring along either looks a bit funny easily but I think it worked out.

Hey, i’m not a mua but ive found that avoiding translucent (white) loose powder really helps! When baking, use a nude/ beige powder instead of white. Hope that works for you
