Hindu Wedding Ceremony

The wedding day starts early in the morning with the divine sounds of traditional Tamil Instruments -The Nathaswaram (a wind instrument) and Thavil (a barell shaped drum)
2. MAPILLAI ALAIPPU
The ceremony begins with his Thozhan ( the bride’s brother) welcoming the groom into the family
3. AALATHI
A tray of light is circled three times in front of the groom to ward off any darkness, the brides family garlands the groom and to welcome him into the family. They then proceed to the Manavarai ( wedding stage) . where the priest awaits.
4. SANKAPALAM
Lord Ganesha is proued upon to remove all Obstacles and endure harmony in the proceedings .
5. PANCHAKAVYA POOJA
The groom is given a Thetpal (as grass ring) that symbolizes the cleansing of the mind. A saffron thread is tied to his right wrist to protect against future malevolence.
6. KANNIKA THAANAM
The bride is escorted to the Manavarai with her Thozhi (groom’s sister). The parents of the bride’s
