My Husband is Military and we got married on a Friday afternoon (after we both worked all day) and then he left the following day to his duty station. We've been told a MANY times that our marriage isn't "real" because we didn't have the big ceremony. Those people are all now divorced (unfortunately) and we're not. It's not about the ceremony, it's about a union of two people in love :) save the money and have an awesome honeymoon!

This is EXACTLY what John and I did--our small wedding kept getting so complicated, we decided at lunch on a Wednesday, to get married after church that Sunday--we didn't tell our parents (had a couple that we were really close to be out witnesses) until we were already on the road for a little honeymoon, and then we took out big original honeymoon a little while later--BEST thing we could have ever done! I gave you a thumbs up because I'm in the same situation. 3 years later our wedding is still delayed. Yesterday my fiancee was rushed to the hospital, and we have been here ever since. I told him, let's elope. I don't care about the big day, I care about him. Seeing your video just made me feel better about my decision. Love is love. Embrace it because life is short. My husband and I eloped after 3 months of meeting. Best decision we've ever made. We got married at his great grandfather's house in Mount Washington with his grandmother as my maid of honor and his great aunt as his best woman. I wore a simple white dress my sister bought me for Christmas and he wore a blue suit with a light eggnog tie. On our way, we stopped at Rita Flora on La Brea for fresh cut flowers for my bouquet (I might have started a trend in '87...lol) After all the drama settled, my parents gave us the money for our wedding and we used it as a down payment on our first house. We are celebrating 28 yrs. of love on December 26. No kids just 4 beautiful rescue dogs. :-) Do you, boo! xo

How about Wellness Wednesday? I know you said before that you wanted to focus on your health and wellness in 2015, so why not commit yourself to something new each week? I'd love to see a different approach (re: not a video on "how to lose weight" like other youtubers do) and watch you test out products that you aren't already an expert on! You are a talented reviewer, it would be fun to see you branch out into new territory. PS- I skipped my wedding too and am happier for it!

I totally agree! I feel like so many people focus on the wedding DAY when a wedding isn't just about that day, it's an entire life with another person, and you don't choose to get married for the wedding day, you decide to get married to promise the rest of your life with another person.

I have watched the first SATC movie waaay too many times and I love the way its just them two going to down to the city hall. Carrie marries Big in a label less dress and they have this awesome meal at a small diner with their near and dear ones. Thats exactly how two people should get together.. Keep it simple and intimate.. You can be happy and people who love you will be happy for you both on the biggest day of your life even without all that shabbang. My husband and i finally decided to just have a nice intimate ceremony with about 10 of our closes friends and family and a photographer. I regret nothing! It was perfect! I stressed for sooo long about a big wedding and trying to make it easy for everyone that i finally said screw it. The fact that all i had to worry about was my hair and makeup (which i did myself cuz im pretty darn good) was amazing! So stress free and beautiful. Tati, go to maui with james and just a handful of the closes people in your life and do one of those beautiful elopement packages!

As for Wednesdays I think you should call it wild Wednesdays and you could do a bold or out if the box look or review something that is not in your usual go to brands or colors or even take us along with you to do something out on the world with you.

Wicked Wednesday? Something like a guilty pleasure of the week, vampy or va-va-voom makeup/fashion, a totally selfish, on-a-whim purchase (a la "I should really save my money for [whatever], but I WANT this handbag, so I'm buying it NOW"), or turn the term "wicked" on its ear by doing some kind of "sneaky good" deed (example, paying for the order of the person behind you at Starbucks and leaving a note for them that says, "Love, The Wicked Witch of the West"). It's really all about stepping outside of that confined, selfless box we ladies tend to put ourselves into and doing whatever makes YOU feel good. In fact, I think I'm going to do this in my life. I already have a Don't Give a Flip Friday once or twice a month, simply because I give BIG flips in my job and home life the rest of the weeks of the month, so maybe this will help balance things even more. But I've gone on enough about Wednesdays. I'm truly happy for you and James, and I think eloping is a fantastic idea. As you said, if someone really wants the big wedding with the dress and the venue and the pictures, that's great! But those things are not required in order to live happily ever after. So, congrats to you both!!!

Hi Tati! My husband and I eloped and 17 years later we are still married and as if we haven't gotten past the honeymoon stage! Eloping is perfect for some couples and it's a memory that is super special for you and your love! Yay!

all my friends are having big weddings but the day i got married we literally just woke up one day and went to the court house. The only one there was his older brother who took pictures and we told everyone (parents, family, ect.) afterwards. I was kind of regretting not having a big wedding for a while (because you see it on tv and in magazines all the time) i was regretting it until I recently went to my brothers. wedding and they were so stressed out the whole time trying to make sure everything went right and was on time. there was no room for error and i don't do well under pressure like that. after we got out marriage license we went to IHOP and laughed and talked and held hands. marriage should be the way you and your love want it not about the expectations of others.

I do not even blame you guys!! I would totally elope if I could do it again haha!! I tell my sister to elope when it's time for her too :) It's all about you guys, don't let it stress you out and don't let the whole thing become all about the wedding!! Yay! You two are getting married for YOURSELVES. Not for a big fat wedding. At least you know you're getting married for the right reasons! We are going to have a large wedding. But we told our parents if things get out of hand we will get married in a field, because all we want is to be with each other forever. Not deal with drama or stress from a wedding. Tati my husband and I did the same thing and it was the best decision we could have made . With the money we save we really got to enjoy our marriage these past 4 years !!! ( yesterday was our anniversary ) I also felt that I didn't need a big wedding ! We have done road trips from Boston to Cali , went to Brazil , Canada , vegas etc and wouldn't have been able to if we did. Big wedding ! My husband and I had a small wedding only with family and our best friends, 35 people :) it was small and amazing. I don't need all that expensive stuff. Why start marriage with like no money left in your account lol you can spend that money on greater things and not spend it for only one day. Its even proven that marriages with a huuuuge wedding lead to problems cus the couples are so stressed out and have financial problems after. Many people are so focused on the wedding day, the planning, and getting things just right that they forget about what truly is important. It's about the love you share and wanting to be together for the rest of your lives. Sometimes you have to do what is right for you and don't worry about everybody else's wants and needs. I know you two will have a great life together.

I am so happy! The wedding was making you so stressed and the wedding should be about you two, not everyone else. Elope, currently i am thinking about it too, weddings are expensive and so stressful and I am not about all of that.

Hats off to you! My husband and I had the choice between using our savings towards either a wedding or a house. We chose the house and instead had a very small (9 adults, 2 nieces), intimate courthouse wedding 7 years ago. And it was PERFECT. Your wedding day comes and goes so fast no matter how much money you spend on it, and instead of being overwhelmed and stressed-out, it was a happy, calm and peaceful day that I truly got to spend with THE MOST IMPORTANT people in our lives and truly interact with all of them. The wedding is ONE DAY, a marriage is FOREVER! 💏

My (now) husband and I were originally planning a pretty big wedding… turned out that no one was quite as excited about our upcoming marriage as we were (mostly my side of the family). So, we went away on vacation and came home married! BEST decision of my life! You can always hire a photographer, that's what we did. I really would not have done anything differently. Congratulations!

I just recently started watching @Tati about 2-3 weeks ago, so I have a couple questions if anyone could answer. Does anyone know what James does for a living? I mean THAT RING😍😍😍, just got back from Paris, travel all over a lot (at least it seems that way), recently (I think), moved, etc. Also, I saw in the comments a few people within the past couple weeks congratulated them on their wedding, so did they do it?!?! Tati... I am so proud of you both. Here's why. I work full time doing hair and makeup for weddings. I've been in the wedding industry for over 5 years. I can't even tell you how many times I have heard a bride say, "Is it bad that I'm glad it's almost over?" The wedding is about the marriage, not a big party! It's nice to share it with your family and friends, but when the stress takes over the joy of the union of marriage, it's not worth it! A lasting marriage is not built on a fancy wedding. I can tell you both love each other a lot, and you are going to have a marriage that everyone is jealous of! Xoxo
