I tried the higher F-stop but I always felt like the light was just BLINDING to compensate. Does anyone else find guests getting annoyed when the flash power is higher than the base? I tend to use 1/256 when hand holding.

I’ve shot hundreds of thousands photos this way, usually at half power of my profoto a10 and never had anyone annoyed by this. I guess it’s just in our heads? When people are drunk and are having fun the flash won’t bother them

Honestly, this philosophy is so important. I am also always on the dance floor and I guess I feel frustrated by the fact that I need to “figure out” the flash every time, but it makes sense that you should have to do that considering the space is different every time. This is making so much sense to me now.
