Those are some KILLER ideas for photos in such a constrained place. Those things can really set a photographer apart... I’m not sure what I would have done for portraits in that back garden, but I’m pretty sure I would have struggled to come up with ideas. Thanks for sharing, John. Gold as always. I really might set up a 10 minute portrait session video. I think it would be great. Being able to pull photos out of a small space is highly important and something I've learned to deal with over my years of being a wedding photographer. More times than not you're put in a situation where it's not ideal and you still need to make great photos. That's what sets apart amazing photographers.

From what I can deduce in the video, one or two off-camera flashes will be great in a wide location. I'd like experiment with a couple to get the feel.

I currently shoot on a Nikon D810 and the size difference is amazing and such a relief! Hi… another great and informative video. I was wondering how you deal with exposure. I notice a lot of your images are light and airy. Do you expose for skin tones or the brides dress when shooting her please.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but given how you commonly use flash, how do you deal with requests not to ever use flash? Especially during ceremony or similar unique moments?

It’s very rare that I’m being asked to not use flash. The main time that ever happens is for the ceremony. Generally for that you’re using your fastest lenses and also pushing your ISO up a little higher. Dropping your shutter as reasonable possible.
