Here is a video of how the Herero's do it traditionally.
This is considered marriage as the ancestors did it this way.
The Herero's don't go to church to get married but perform rituals according to their culture.

The thing is that the groom side has to praise the two cows that they came with based on where they are coming from, praising all the places that they traveled through on their way and also praising the Tjiueza surname. Otjiherero is so unique that you can't translate what they are saying but we understand each other

Actually she can an cover herself or someone who is with her if there is no older people in the house from her own side and the husband side. Is not easy but it must be done no matter what..
