They have really good energy and easy to listen to. I love it when they are in this podcast or Talkville. I'm excited for this weeks Talkville to hear both of them.
The guests of all guests finally are here. This is just amazing. They have been involved in so many shows as writers before Smallville gig and it's just impressive.
I am enjoying listening to this episode! I am learning so much about Miles and Al. Tim Burton definitely sounds like an interesting person. Best podcast ever!
Holy cow! Thanks for having the executive producers/series creators of Smallville on your podcast! I'm just now getting into the 9th season of Smallville on bluray!
This was a fantastic and fun episode, Al & Miles are such great and knowledgeable guys, Wednesday is such a brilliant series (I've watched it twice) and I'm so glad it was a success for them, looking forward to season 2 !! 😄
So many great stories about Wednesday! It's so much fun hearing about the making of a show you love, about a character you love, involving so many creative people you love. Just great! Thank you, Michael!
What a great episode, Al and Miles were so engaging and the discussion between the three of you was exciting and informative and I absolutely love “Wednesday” and so glad for it’s overnight success, brilliant interview 🤩💖
Exciting Inside, Smallville is there and didn’t take à wrinkle !! ♥️ I loved hearing them talk about their collaboration with Tim Burton 👍 Rich Inside and rich Tuesday, thank you Michael and Ryan 💙💜
Awesome compliment for @MichaelRosenbaum - He's the Stanley Kubrick of actors (translation: He's earned the right to choose what he wants, when he wants). NOICE
That was a great one. I hope you have them back on again! They're your bosses but also your professional friends. I hope they come back and just do an in-depth Smallville or Talkville talk with you. I would love to hear about the beginnings of their careers, early struggles, early connections. I love what they said about you being right for the role of Lex Luthor- every episode, even ones where you're not happy with the writing for Lex, you always have that consistent character pain, these little beats and moments that are so right. I certainly hope you reprise your role as Lex Luthor, but perhaps on the silver screen. All the best, Michael & team! Thanks for another excellent one!
Great episode - always interesting and fun to listen to these two. Have been curious about what they will be up to ever since SHANGHAI NOON and finding SMALLVILLE in 2011 and am so glad they finally again have the success they deserve. I love WEDNESDAY, but it took me almost three months until I rewatched because it led me to a Swedish Netflix show that equally blew up globally, and I got lost in a Swedish rabbithole. So interesting to hear that Netflix was not only the only streamer interested in the show, but also so massively supportive - very good also for the rest of the world, as we could all watch simultaneously and not have to wait for the DVDs, as with SMALLVILLE. Netflix does so many interesting things that also bring the world together, as we all watch simultaneously - and great young actors' social media accounts blowing up to 2 million followers in a few weeks seems to be the rule now. From what I hear, at least Nordic Netflix does its best to prepare them for that and help them deal with it - 'be personal, but not private' seems good advice.
Thank you Michael! Love them! ❤ love the behind the scenes! I love Smallville/Talkville and my daughter loves Wednesday. Love it when you call Al on Talkville. ❤❤❤
2 of the coolest people out there not only have they been part of so many amazing projects but they also both seem so kind and chill definitely the kind of people you'd want to have in a collaborative project. I actually haven't seen Wednesday yet but I just finished rewatching Smallville tonight, so now I've definitely got the time especially when it's from the same Creators of Smallville
Great show again fellers. It was nice to see Mr. Gough and Millar together. And I hate to admit this but didn't know they were involved with Wednesday! Keep the great shows coming y'all
I am so happy to see Al and Miles on your show. They are so fun. Loved hearing all about Wednesday. Cannot wait for season 2. They are right Micheal I miss seeing you on shows. I akso agree you are a natural with the podcast. Thanks as always. Love inside of you and talkville!!!❤😊
I'm curious if they had ever heard of the Adult Wednesday Addams RU-vid series. I know she got shut down from doing further episodes by the IP owner. I love that Al made a Ladyhawke reference!
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice is still here lol! I am so happy Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder signed on to do another story for Beetlejuice.
Wednesday is such a great show 🎉 A huge thank you for getting Tim to do a series. I feel so incredibly lucky to have an entire TV show of his work, he's my favorite Director 🙏🙏🙏 As a creation, it's genius! Bravo for making it so fun and entertaining and at the same time an empowering character for young people especially girls to enjoy ❤ Me and my Dad loved the Adams family so much as I was growing up. Debbie was our favorite!! We used to watch it alot. When Wednesday came out it was such a delight getting to enjoy it all over again in a really cool new way together, now that I'm 30yrs old. Thank you for doing it justice and then some 🙌🙌🙌 love from Ireland, Wicklow, where Season 2 is currently filming down the road from me ❤ (part of the set that we saw is huge and incredible) Also I adore Fred, thank you for casting him 💪❤️
I've said it before and will continue to. I would love to have Michael narrate the audiobooks for my horror/thriller series. He would be perfect and would love to have him do that!
I agree with micheal. I hate complaining when it comes to arranging and hanging out with friends. I didn't realize that streaming shows takes up to a year to film.
Love this episode. I think the way you give us an insight into the real workings of Holywood is truly unique. Random non sequitur.. As a UK viewer I can't get over how much Miles' voice and mannerisms remind me of Ed Miliband (ex Labour Leader) ☺️.
Michael. I'm hopeful the news that you are slated to play the role of Lex on a new Superman flick. You deserve that role. You play the most terrifying Lex Luthor ever. Good for you. You deserve this.
My daughter (9 years old) and I watch Smallville together right now and once she told me she had a crush on Clark Kent I was like nope. We gotta stop I can't handle my 9 year old and the thought of boys 😂
Really loved Wednesday, I remember all the marketing and hype being that it was a Tim Burton project and didn't see G&M mentioned so I didn't even know it was their show until I spotted the Easter egg of their names on a window when Wednesday is arriving at the therapist's office and thought to Google it
Great to hear from Miles and Al, but they still dragged that Clark/Lana storyline out way too long. That should've ended after season 4, and everything from season 5 on should've focused on Clark/Chloe and Clark/Lois. Also, moving Metropolis from the east coast to the middle of Kansas was wrong because having a city that big in Kansas is logistically impossible. They also should have fought harder to get the studio to let them make that teenage Bruce Wayne/Gotham show that The WB was originally going to make, and have it run as a companion to Smallville with the two shows crossing over with each other so that Bruce Wayne could appear on Smallville.
I just watch the Krysten Ritter where he mentions knowing the creators of Wednesday and asking them about getting Krysten a small part. Now I have to listen to this podcast. Lol
Wednesday season 2 needs Boom Boom song by Paul Lekakis and Ezra Miller. Then Jake Thistle whos new on RU-vid as a singer in coffee shop. Then Terrell Wooley as Sunday a Priest who fights evil with Wednesday and yeah more and more.
This was a great podcast episode, but I got excited when you spoke about the Tidewater Comic Con in Virginia Beach since that’s where I live. Definitely gonna attend to see you and Tom. While you’re in Virginia Beach, you should definitely come by our store, the Virginia Beach Antique Mall / The Toymeister. We are the largest toy store on the east coast and you will not be disappointed. Take care and I’ll see you at the Con in a few weeks.
I was very skeptical of Wednesday when I saw the previews. I grew up watching the original Adams family. I was even skeptical of the movie that was made. I really think this series was great. At first I really didn’t want to watch because of how they done the Gomez character. I still struggle with it a little bit based on what the character has always been. But overall, I really enjoyed the series.
What an informative episode i always love seeing people who’s work I’ve appreciated for years have success in other areas. But let’s not forget they’re responsible for one of the best comic book movies of all time even about 20 years later. Spider-Man 2. Im glad Wednesday is doing so well
Hey if you can get Gwendoline Christie try for Nikolaj Coster-Waldau he does alot of U.N. Womens projects and environmental stuff per Greenland. Grew up poor with single mother, might have gotten into crime but discovered acting & modeling. He might still be in LA are he moved finally from Denmark dual residency for his daughter's schooling and his work.
It's crazy to know how hard it was to find a sound stage for Wednesday. It sounds like more needs to be built if they are in high demand and there are so many derelict warehouses in England on old industrial sites that would be perfect for converting. Anyway great podcast as usual.
45:42 I think I get it; you've got two TV directors who's last two shows were not smashing hits and a famed movie director whose last movies also bombed in many ways, so I don't know if I would go for it. The concept itself sounds like it could definitely fail if the tone was just a bit off and from what I hear some parts were just held together by Jenna being stubborn (in a good way) and refusing to let the show be off key which no one could have predicted really.
Puppies are a big responsibility. You'll get there, but it'll take time. I think for the general public it's important to remind them not to take on such a responsibility lightly unless you can do the work and keep at it. ❤
This was a GREAT interview!!!! The guests are great. Thank you, it was a treat. Thanks for asking great questions! I wish this was a 4 hour interview! Best parts are the questions about Smallville. I stopped watching Smallville after Lex and Lana brokeup. I wish someone would ask about the Lex and Lana relationship. Did they plan on breaking them up and was the fake pregnancy always the writers plan?
Yes the push back on the Gomez casting from the audiences was pretty rough because the movie Gomez is relationship goals and the original Gomez is pretty much the opposite of that haha
"people we haven't heard from in..years". Yeah, maybe don't keep in touch with those people. It won't be all of them, of course, but you get a big hit and suddenly they are motivated to get in touch again. What a coincidence.
Oh dear check this if You fall in LOVE since childhood you'll get forgive one??? Or You get a miss everyone??? As family maybe or as Saints maybe??? SO how can i stop My Heart And mind telling me i LOVE You all???
If an avid viewer watched(es) 1 in 4 episodes, what do we call viewers like me who was in front of my TV for every episode of Smallville? In fact, for a time, on DirecTV, I had CW in three different time zones so I could watch the new episodes three times in a row.
Did Michael ever talk about his involvement in Guardian of the Galaxy 3 with anyone before? Or maybe he's just not going to bring it up with his guest.
