I thought it was a wonderful message and I really identified with it. When I retired I was lost without my job title. Shame on me. The singing was great. I guess I don’t have an ear for music. Maybe that is a blessing because it is one area I am not even tempted to criticize. I lost a substantial amount of my hearing about 4 years ago very suddenly. I was not able to hear tv or radio and I want to my ipad and with the aid of hearing aids, iPods and a noise canceling headphones I was able to listen to my ipad and got on utube and what I thought was an accident I clicked on a minister and over the next year I found Pastor Hibbs and was saved. What can seem a curse can be such a blessing. I lost most of my hearing but found salvation. That is a great trade. Love Pastor Hibbs and his sermons. Thank you Lord for showing me the way.

I’m afraid that will b my husband he will feel he lost his identity when he retires also. He’s a successful cop who will have a long career. It’s a very large major US city and he still knows almost all the other cops (over 1,200) he’s friends with high high up people. I mean he’s very well liked and respected and he enjoys his job. Unfortunately he’s not saved so I worry even more that when he’s not a cop anymore he will get very depressed. It was his life’s calling. Perfect personality for it.
The first thing I do in the morning is the Bible and prayer. The first thing I do when I get paid is I tithe to the church. I listen to messages all day and recite my verses to the king on my way to work every morning (I memorize a new Psalm every year and keep adding to the verses I recite to the king every morning) I find it easier to trust and rely on God because He is my everything. I'm 62 - didn't figure that out until less than 10 years ago - wish I'd figured it out long long ago. I don't do these things to score points I'm astonished He never destroyed me with all I did before - but I am madly in love with Him and do very thankful for His love for me - I love striving to please Him - just because I love Him. I still screw up and fall short but I imagine Him smiling at me through my failures anyway. God was right - LOVE GOD - LOVE PEOPLE - it's what it's all about! Blessings!
Thank you. I lost my 25 year old son on 12/31/22 to depression-he took his own life. His family will never be the same. I couldn’t go on without Jesus. So looking forward to seeing my son in eternity. Identity is so important-choose Christ-choose life.
This made me think of my last day as a correctional officer. My husband, who was also a correctional officer (we worked at Alaska’s only maximum security men’s prison) had been urging me to quit for several years. I refused to quit. Finally, I prayed about it one night asking God to give me a concrete sign, something i couldn’t ignore, if he wanted me to quit my job. God let me know first thing the following morning when I got out of bed. I put in my two week notice the next day. When I clocked out, on my last day, I had tears running down my cheeks as I exited the facility. When I think about that now it’s mind boggling to me, but Jim Wallace is right, my identity was wrapped up in my job.
I wish I had heard this message when I was young. It would have been such a blessing. I also pray that God would be willing to YELL my purpose to me so loudly that it is impossible to ignore. Even though I am 51 and I have a career I don’t believe that I know God’s purpose for me. I don’t feel unique and I am not certain that I am living His will for my life.

For everyone talking about the music! I haven’t even listened to the message but hear me out. 1- worship comes from the heart. My husband can’t sing on key, but when he sings to me it’s one of my favorite sounds in the world. God is the same way. He wants your worship in spirit and in truth. This isnt a performance. If you’re having a hard time, maybe just spend some time in prayer during the song, OR sing louder! I understand where you’re coming from but hear this truth: It is far MORE important to have a worship leader who has a HEART of worship, than it is it have a performer who sings well. I say this as someone who has done worship Most of my Christian life. Those with a REAL heart of worship are few and far between.
Edit: I listened. He did absolutely great. He did not detract from this AT ALL, and in fact he did a great job on his song. I hope they have him back. If anything was wrong musically, aside from the occasional missed note that they ALL had, it was the Tec. Team not adjusting volumes well. And even then it wasn’t too bad. Personally I don’t mind at all. I just saw so many comments I thought it was worth mentioning

So, I struggle with this. When I'm talking with someone, I cannot just blurt out Jesus. It has to be a normal conversation that flows. I'm so tired of pastors, etc. saying that if I'm not talking about Jesus to someone, I need to check my faith or worse yet, if I'm a Christian. I am Spirit-led in all that I do. When the opportunity arises, I would take advantage of that but I'm not gonna go to the mall or streets and walk around telling others about Jesus. That's not my testimony in how I was led to Christ and how I got saved. It was watching the lives of others that God put into mine that spoke volumes. It was a quiet conversion. It's not up to me to save people. It's up to God through his Son Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. Prior to my salvation, I was watching people. If they were believers, I was watching. Something in me made me aware of that. I felt the nudging all of the time so the way I approach this is to just let my life be a testimony to others. Smiling, approachable, comfortable to talk to and then let the Spirit do the rest. We don't save people. God does.

Honestly, I wasn't interested in this man's presentation at first. Midway through he hit me like a wall. Never in my life would I have ever thought that I was practicing Idolatry. But I have been. Many times I have repeated that "My identity is in Jesus Christ" but like any garden variety hypocrite: I didn't practice that nor truly believe it. My Misplaced Devotion is a HUGE problem, and the cause of 99% my problems. Thank you for your service to the Body of Christ Sir.
Didn't say anything last time this guy led worship, but somebody needs to speak the truth in love about the worship tonight. The Male singing is way off key. If one has an ear for music, it's unmistakable and it's VERY hard to sing along and worship. Don't mean to be unkind; just truthful.
It's not "way off", in fact you nailed your harmonies brother 💪🏻 your sacrifice of praise goes up as a sweet-smelling aroma to the LORD. Be encouraged brother! ❤
Fantastic service. !! I do wish that the two guys in the congregation competing for “amener of the month” would pipe down. It’s distracting from what some of us desperately need. Could quite possibly be the lesson that keeps us off the ledge
