Man, there are some really lame youtube videos on this topic, but yours is great. Thx for the clarity.

I will try this on my own trimmer. PERFECT video since i was given this same trimmer as a project. The parts are as you have said about 8 dollars. Thank you in advance for the video on how to do it. Seems simple enough. I will keep you posted on how i do. Thanks and have a great day.

The best advice on working around carbs is to always use the right tool. Carbs almost never take anything other than inexpensive hand tools, and using the wrong tool will generally do more damage than good. The rule of thumb is if you leave a mark or scratch, you aren't doing it right, and probably aren't using the right tool.

Awesome video. I had idle issues and issues when running higher speeds on my Weedeater (it wouldn't stay running at speed when warm or idle without throttling it so I thought I'd try clean vs. rebuild first). Took the carb apart and cleaned it. Then put it back together and dialed in the idle as in your video and it runs perfectly!. Thanks very much :)

@novellterminator you might try adjusting the carb and if that doesn't do it you should replace the carb kit, i have videos that show how to do this

yes or try adjusting the carb by slightly turning out the screws until it runs better

@lcpittman2008 try adjusting the carb, if that doesn't work get a new carb kit and maybe replace the fuel lines

@crimsontide798, try adjusting the hi-speed screw. I got a two cycle weed trimmer engine that would do the same thing. Im thinking that you don't have enough gas going to the cylinder. But maybe if you have more smoke that it should, try counterclockwise. And halfway press the throttle trigger until you could get it to run more smoother.

sometimes the compression gets too low, i also take the muffler off to see the condition of the piston and rings

Don, i have a problem with a homelite trimmer, it doesnt seem to be sucking any fuel from the primer nor up the gas line. The fuel lines are brand new, primer bulb is new and carb gasket look in good condition

there is another model 1400 with a different orientation of the carb and tank, etc. I got a nearly-new one for FREE but cannot start it.... A squirt of carb cleaner in the butterfly area and it will crank over, but not stay running. I cannot even figure out how to use the side-by-side pair of screws for idle and hi-speed (if they are that!). The tank cap is on top and it is at the rear of the machine and low with the tank oriented side-to-side for the ends...

I bought a homelite 725 at a garage sale 2 years ago. finally used 3 weeks ago. It worked awesome. Then i used it again and it worked only half awesome. and now it wont start today. I looked at the hoses and they were broke with black stuff in the tank from the hoses. Got new hoses. And it still wont start. U think that black stuff got in the carb? I was in love with this weadeater and want to make it work again. The bulb gets hard but does not seem to release pressure. it will kinda idel.thedi

I have the same weed whacker as you but my grandpa put duct tape around the Handel to keep it from falling off hahaha

make sure it's not flooded, start the setting screws at 2 turns out

@donyboy73 When i turn it that way, it looks right...but my metal back that the air filter mounts to is blocking the throttle lever from moving. It has it trapped. I am about ready to start a new olympic game...weedwacker tossing. I'm certain I can throw it to houses down.

Great job on your videos. My Weedeater starts just fine and idles fine. The problem is when I give it some gas, it just putters out dies on me. I'll start it up again and it will putter out again, and just gets worse. Any hints that would steer me in the right direction? Thanks!

could be an oversight at the factory or someone has been in there

great video,, I also have a question, on some carbs, there is a rubber disc, or rubber valve on the carb on the side under the primer bulb. someone brought me a weed eater trimmer which this disc id damaged. parts kits don't have this part in a parts package. where cam I find this part ? thanks

thanks for responding.the carb only has one adjustment screw with a cap on it. would i break the cap off to adjust it? with the cap on it only has about 1/4 turn for adjustment.Also do you have any videos for walbro carb rebuilds. I have a 77 Poulan 2 stroke chainsaw with one,that needs a carb rebuild.it looks like someone had been in there in the past and i think some pieces may be missing.thanks

Is it worth replacing carburetor parts in weedwacker?

all the fuel mixture leaks out of my Troy-Bilt trimmer through the muffler? If the fuel line has a hole I cna't see it.

Great video.good attention to small details.i recently acquired a weedeater featherlite plus with rotted fuel lines.I replaced the lines and cleaned out filter.gave it a couple pulls and it started right up.only problem is when you fully squeeze the throttle,it revs up but slowly (sort of a bog).it doesnt completely hit top end either(gets there but breaks up).tried swapping plug and cleaning out muffler.my guess is something with carb.any suggestions before disassembly)?thanks

heyy i have the same weed eater but i need your help don first i have to tip it up side down so gas can get in the carb then i prime it and it runs off the little bit of primed fuel then shuts off from fuel starvation the fuel line is not long so its at the bottom but i dont know how that will help since theirs no pump to pump it up to the carb so really the only way to run it is up side down can u help don thanks!

@donyboy73 where the heck do you find the model number to determine which ring? i was given a similar weedeater featherlite but cant find the model number. its a 1998 tho.

I have the same unit as you are working on. I just sprayed carburetor cleaning all over the carb and it started up and stayed running for a while. Unfortunately, I noticed the primer bulb is now cracked. Where can I get a replacement for this model?

How to replace starter for2001 voyager.

Best thing to do is to replace the carburetor. Usually circuits get clogged and then you end up taking the carburetor off and replacing it. A kit is about the same as a carburetor.

I have a weed eater its.a feather lite sst after about 10 mins of running with a full tank a gas it will hardley stay running when I turn it on off choke it will bog down is it a carb??

I can't for the life of me find a video where you set your weed eater back to the factory settings on my feather light. I have bought a new spark plug and have to tooled around too much with my high and low settings on a carburetor and I just want to get it back to where it was before when at least it ran bogged down lol

sigh, i rebuilt the carb with hardware, replaced primer bulb, replaced the fuel lines and fuel filter, replaced the spark plug, fresh gas and still won't start -_-

What is the model number for this trimmer?

I took mine apart and the whole diaphragm was torn up and gone.
