There is a section in HKU MBBS interview where you are required to speak in Cantonese/Mandarin (preferably Canto). Also you will need to do a course in Medical Chinese in Y2 iirc Not knowing Canto will seriously affect your chances of getting in, and will hamper your progress within the course even if you successfully enter it
