Come along as I take you through a week in my life! This week started with us leaving for a quick overnight camping trip, then coming home and getting on with life as usual including school, meals, outings with friends, and a surprise delivery of a piano!!! Hope you all enjoy sharing this week in my life with me! WITL

Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. @@jaroffireflies Thank you - not to sound greedy, but the longer the better when it comes to your videos - they are the perfect way to start off the week well. 😎 I hope your morning sickness eases soon. Oh, camper van camping trips and playing the piano - sooo many great childhood memories :) I hope your daughter loves learning to play & playing the piano & that everyone in the family does as well. We're having a cold snap too (but it's beautifully sunny) - it was -4 degrees Celsius this morning :) I was thinking about sewing my cold-tolerant salad out on the balcony already, but with it being this cold, I'm starting the seeds indoors. Have you started yours? Or do you wait for the ground to be warm enough to sew directly in the garden? Hope you all have a wonderful week!

My children are spaced almost the same as hers. Number 4 was a lovely surprise. He was so chilled that he just kind of fit in to our day. He became used to our routine quickly. In kindergarten he could read at 4 th grade level just from being around his siblings. Some days are hard but so worth it.

I was Waldorf homeschooled growing up and my mom would often light a candle and call it "the lamp of learning" it makes me so nostalgic to see you homeschool your kids with a candle burning!

Mr & I bought an RV this fall and it’s been a game changer. While tent camping is fine being able to get out of bad weather, store gear, sleep well, sleep well, sleep well……did I mention SLEEP is priceless! One thing we found it’s much easier for off season adventures, less people, noise & crowds. It’s wonderful that you can enjoy your family, friends, nature, have adventurers and just have fun.

@Jar of Fireflies - Girl, you went GLAMPING, not camping. Hahahahaha Travel trailers are definitely > tents, IMHO. I definitely am a GLAMPER. 🤣 Out in the wildness of nature with all the comfort of home, who would want to refuse that??? 😉 Need to Shabbat experience level 2.0 with camping! That would be a crazy challenge, but you’d probably need to be GLAMPING to pull that off. 😉 Your week looked fun! Glad you guys had a good time. 😊

Oh Chana, can someone please make me a picnic like that! Iris also has her gumboots on right now as our part of Australia is getting hit with lots of water - we moved 3 weeks ago to Shellharbour on the coast. Like your kids, she doesn't care, she thinks the more muddy puddles the better. I smile when I see Bella calmly hanging out with you all and the obvious enjoyment your whole family has in nature. Be proud of yourselves, you and your husband have allowed that to be fostered. I look forward to piano updates. We have one for Iris and she bangs away on it but I did not think about me going back to playing. I might now. Keep well, keep warm. Cate

I got a couple of them years and years ago from a store that no longer carries them. Recently though I was able to buy two more on Amazon. Just look for metal bento box and they should pop up :)

I’m so excited for your new piano. We’ve wanted another one for years. Sadly, my parents passed away and my husband secured the family piano for me. It’s probably considered an antique at this point. It’s only been in our family. It will be a happy but sad reminder all in one. I feel so blessed to be able to have this treasure. Lovely video as always. My daughter does play the piano and it will help recover from the brain injuries she’s sustained. My son now wants to take piano lessons. We’re excited to get this transported, refinished and added to our home.

So glad you loved this one! We had a super fun week :) the camper was harder in the sense that I couldn’t drive it or set it up and it wasn’t ours, but easier because bed and bathroom 😂 I still prefer a tent personally, but my husband doesn’t like tents so if a camper gets him to come along I can compromise :)

You aren’t hero! Camping while pregnant and experiencing horrible morning sickness!!! I would have NEVER attempted such a feat! That was some feast your sweet husband grilled up for you all. It looked like a very good week. My family camped a lot when I was young. Then, my dad died when I was 14, and my mom, brother and I continued camping, because it was an economical way to have vacations, plus we enjoyed it. After my dad was gone, we did a camping trip to Disney World, and a number of trips to the Gulf Coast, in addition to more local camping. I grew up in North Alabama, so we were able to get the the beach or the Mountains pretty easily. Your kids will remember these good times.

*sigh*...I remember those days when a big rain puddle was an absolute world of fascination! Loved camping with hubby on the grill, that gorgeous sunset, and Bella- lol- she had me laughing when she jumped up on the bed the second that blanket was spread out! Smart dog. 0h yes, Target is amazing. That is why I try to stay out of there.lol Finally Spring has come to North Alabama this week. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. We have had so much cold weather that we are ready for some 70 degree temps. Loved the rain boots...you are ready for the spring showers now!!

Hi Chana. I got such a kick out of your kids testing their new boots by going through the puddles. I did that too but didn't always wait for boots...oops. I'm so happy that you were able to use the camper. I was very concerned about you sleeping in a tent so I was relieved!! I see Bella absolutely loved camping with everyone. Target is my little bit of heaven. I spend so much time in that store. I love love love Target. I love that they have so many kosher food items. So my week started with my daughter 5th birthday party. We had an ice skating party and she had so much fun with all her friends.

I took piano lessons from 3rd grade all the way through senior year of high school. I did have a mishap in fifth grade when I fractured my left wrist, but otherwise loved it. I played for my small Southern Baptist church (of about 40-ish people) during my high school years, and I think that helped me with my social anxiety a little bit. I haven’t played much since then, a little over 20 years ago, but don’t have a piano or space for one in my house. I did try playing a keyboard, but the feel was just off. Even though your piano needs tuning, everyone can practice with finger placement. By the time I was finished, I could easily switch between looking at the sheet music and the keys.

I feel the same way about the keyboard, it’s just not the same to me. My boys want piano lessons now too :)

I found it awesome that as far as hand placement goes the youngest seems to be the closest to having it exact. I tried but I had a very old fashioned teacher who never learned to read music he played by sound and as I am tone deaf it was not a good experience. I still would like to learn, but not sure it will ever happen for me. Best of luck and learning children.

When I saw the title with camping in it I thought bless you. I tent camped in June in swampy hot south Georgia 7 months pregnant and I literally spent half the day showering off every few hours to stay comfortable. I vowed never again! Hooray for the camper! 😍❤🌞

@@jaroffireflies All over North America there has been weird weather this winter. I watch another RU-vid channel from Arizona and they have a goat farm and it actually snowed there the other day. Make sure you guys keep warm! It is -20 C this morning. But later in the week we might get close to 10 Celsius! Yay! It will feel like summer. 😂

Porto to say, my husband is also a musician. He plays the keys and bassist. I love listening to him play not practice. Hahahaha. When his musician friends come over and they are working on a song it can take hours.

Hi Chana.....since next week is the time for my quarterly doctor's appointments today started off with a pre-dawn fasting trip to the lab for bloodwork. NOT my favourite way to start any day but particularly disagreeable on a Monday morning! I came out to discover the sun had risen and was shining broadly, many of the winter-in-the-city birds were cawing or chirping or twittering according to their nature and I hurried home to my toast-and-coffee and a Video from YOU! Here in Ontario there are few signs of spring yet.....the temp is double digits below 0degreesC and the ploughed snow edging the city streets is at least waist high, so watching your pretty weather and hearing you talk about being able to go camping is very cheering. Thanks for sharing

I love all of your adventures with the kids. I think that you were brave to go camping in the winter. I think that the kids lived their boots so they could splash i. All the puddles. I don’t know how you keep on going especially with not feeling well most of your days.

@@jaroffireflies I remember doing that while pregnant in 2020. It wasn’t so much reorganizing, but with how things got done in general and when they got done. And then with how the nursery was set up (not that the baby uses it yet, despite already being a year old). Definitely love hearing about your progress, even though the morning sickness part sucks.

We are just finishing summer (a few more weeks where we could get up into the 90's.) So the thought of the cold weather and snow sounds great at the moment! - unfortunately I am a bit too low for snow where I live. Thanks for another video, it was great to see what you do, I'm hoping to go camping for a night this coming Friday with family. Hope you get some time to play the piano.

You've given me a lot of confidence in myself in how homeschooling can be done. My boys are 2 years old and going on 3 months. So I have so much time to learn before we start what your doing but I'm so happy you let us watch your family. I've learned so much and I'm not even Jewish, I just like learning! You even hangout with me when I'm doing my chores around the house too. So thank you again, I love your video!

@@jaroffireflies most definitely not to early. I literally just got a teacher planning book yesterday! We do so much life skills along with the basics and sign language. You've just showen me what a good baseline is to work with how my kids learn and make it less stressful for everyone!

If you like the Katz's doughnuts and have enough extra freezer space, I order directly from their website. It's not hard to reach their free shipping minimum of $50. I order 2-3 times a year and this way always have doughnuts/cupcakes/cake in the freezer for my son with celiac.

So envious that you get to go camping. It’s been a long stretch of - temps and started my week of with a broken water line😖. Not going to stress and give it to the higher power!
