WEEK IN MY LIFE | puppy haul & prep, coloring my own hair, easy meal ideas, new nails! 

Hiiii I just want to give a little advice to help ease the transition of a getting a puppy. 1. I wouldn't recommend using potty pads. It teaches the dog to use the bathroom in the house. Instead, take the dog out every 45 minutes and reward him for pottying outside. 2. Don't allow the puppy free reign to travel all over the house. That's how you get accidents you don't know when happened, things torn up etc. I would recommend setting up specific areas for the puppy to be in unsupervised like a playpen with a crate attached. But you should always be watching the puppy and again if you can't then the playpen/crate area is where he needs to be. 3. Develop positive association with the crate/playpen. You shouldn't only put the puppy in the playpen or crate when it's time to go to sleep or disconnect from others. You can use it to feed meals, treats, training etc. 4. Get your puppy used to being touched. Touch the paws, ears, tail, teeth, open the mouth put your fingers in there. All this to desensitize the puppy for vet visits, groomers and just everyday touch. 5. I also recommend brushing the teeth at least once a week. A lot of dogs end up suffering from plaque, bad breath, rotting teeth, etc. because their teeth don't get taken care of. 6. I also recommend learning how to trim your dogs nails. Letting your dogs nails get too long can lead to very nasty and painful consequences along with damaging their paws. It's hard to cut black nails but not impossible all you have to do is research and there's a lot of good info on it online. It's truly saved me. If you plan to cut your dogs nails pls remember they have a quick and if cut, it will bleed. You should purchase kwikstop which is a powder that staunches the bleeding and contains pain relief. 7. TAKE PICTURES!!! They grow soooo fast the time will fly before you even know it. And don't forget to enjoy the puppy phase. It's difficult to raise a puppy for sure but be sure not to get lost in the sauce and forget to enjoy them as a puppy because they won't be a puppy forever and again they grow so fast. She also has a cat that she had before she got a dog so you can take some notes on how to navigate the cat-dog relationship as well. Alright, that's all I can think of for now. Keep the dog food in its original bag, but place the bag in a sealed tub/bin! If you dump the food directly into the bin, bacteria, grime or bugs get in the crevices over time. Learned this the hard way haha

Hi! If you get a sealed bin, make sure you leave the bag inside the bin. Don't dump the food into the plastic bin. It can be absorbed by the plastic. (Best friend is an emergency vet). So excited for you guys! Welcome to the puppy and cat family!

Be careful with collars because they could easily slip out of it while they’re on a walk! I would recommend getting a harness

We just got a lab puppy and never used pee pads. He potty trained super fast. We just took him out every 45 minutes so he learned he has to potty outside. Also for when he gets bigger I would recommend getting a “slopper stopper” water bowl because it keeps the water from going everywhere and holds a lot. Good luck, puppies are hard but they are the best! ❤

good morning it’s so cool to see you prepare for your puppy my husband and I just got a second dog, a Havanese puppy. She came home to us in the beginning of February. A thought: some of the dog toys I think your puppy will grow into so you might want to circle back around once you get him and buy slightly smaller durable toys for his smaller mouth and I’ve learned that the best way to store your dog food is keep it in the bag and then placed the bag in a sealed container for maximum freshness and to prevent ants or any other pets from getting into it. Enjoy the journey! We don’t have children yet either but the fulfillment I have found with raising this puppy is amazing❤ wishing you the same

I’m so excited for your puppy! We just got a bernedoodle puppy and she has been so much fun. I hate bringing the entire roll of poop bags with me on walks, I just tie 1-2 bags to the handle of the leash and it works great.

Hi Rachel! New dog mom with 3 cats here!! I recommend buying a pet door latch so your cat can get in and out of rooms without the dog following her in there messing with her food, litter & her. Safety and convenience especially once your dog starts becoming curious about his new sister lol. GOOD LUCK!!!

I recommend keeping the bag of dog food in the sealed container rather than dumping the food into the container. This helps maintain the food's freshness and prevents it from spoiling by protecting it from moisture, pests, and air.

For the hair, I would just ask them to do a root shadow! That will blend it out easily :)

With your lamp: I saw on a video recently that most floor lamps with cords like that you can actually kinda shove/ feed it through the base so that it's hidden underneath/within the base of the lamp 😊 worth a shot right? 😂

For your cramps you can take tums (weird but it works) or you can take a calcium supplement. I was recommend both an iron and calcium supplement, due to bc my calcium was low and I kept getting cramps in my calf’s. They did wonders, hope they work for you as well ☺️

I recommend not putting anything in the crate. I promise they get used to not sleeping with anything. You’ll have to constantly wash the blanket too the first few weeks from dribble. We never had anything in our crate for our corgi and Aussie for the cleaning aspect and safety too. We are gonna do the same approach for our next corgi coming up 😊 Of course it works for you guys then awesome!!

We have 2 cats (Persians) and a dog (chow chow) The dog wants to be their friends lol but the cats ain’t about that life lol 😆 in the beginning they hissed at him a lot. But now they just all lounge around in harmony. The dog has eaten the cat food multiple times though lol ugh … Also we had the dog first and this way his territory, and he was very inviting to them but I think your situation is in resecarse so Vinny might feel offended lol good luck with the transition 🫶 everything will be fine ❤

Maybe your hairdresser can create less pronounced highlights (so they blend better with the rest of your hair instead of doing stripes) It's more natural and it seems you would like it much better.
