I think painting the apartment would make you feel a bit better about it - it comes across cold in your videos / lacking energy (could just be the camera) but maybe you need to have a look at either adding some more colour or looking at different tones of white that suit the lighting your apartment is getting. I think the current shade of white is drowning the energy of the space... just a suggestion!

yes! totally feel you on this. unfortunately, i don't think we are allowed to paint/its not in our budget but i would love to if i could. the walls are definitely grey leaning :(

U r not alone. I think a lot of that feeling comes with moving into someone else's space (even if we love them to mars and back). It's hard to allow yourself to feel like you can creatively express yourself in the way you normally would. 💓

When we don’t feel good in a space we simply don’t, not trying to be harsh 😢 but since you moved you never felt good in there :( I am not sure it is the deco, etc. I know no one NEVER wants to hear this ( including me) but consider moving. Just consider. Because you can literally spend years revolving around a space that simply doesn’t click with you (my personal experience), but we keep rationalizing it.

oh i totally hear you on this! definitely not the spot i want to be and i kind of knew that from the start. the reality is we just cant afford to move anywhere else here. so i'm just going to try my best to turn it into a space i can enjoy!

I moved out of my mom's house and into my first apartment with my boyfriend the same week I started my first ever full time career job. It was a HUGE adjustment. I know the feeling like it'll never get done but I promise you it will! My apartment finally started feeling cozy/like home 3-4 months after moving in. Don't rush to get it done, make sure you truly love every piece you buy so it'll feel timeless to you :)

I think you might be right about something in the universe affecting that home-feeling. I also recently moved in and have been buying new items here and there to improve our house. And for some reason I keep second guessing myself. I like it when I buy it and then once in the space I am never sure. It does get tiring. Hang in there!

I think painting your bedroom a cosy colour - like a chilled yellow or a blue could help to make it feel more enclosed and like a fresh space

Lovedddd the different filming styles & the approach to editing in this vloggy miss Sarah! Feeling similar things in on the home front, and we are the same age. I wonder if there's something to the ~ almost-30 woman domesticity/"settling down"/ownership vs. rental/societal expectations (and maybe our own subconscious expectations) ~ of it all. No real solutions to offer but wanted to share you're not alone in it! Xx

Sarah, I want to leave this comment. Every time I watch your videos, I feel like maybe you’re obsessed with fixing things-fixing yourself, fixing things around you. I don’t know… maybe you feel vulnerable because of your type of work-the exposure. Maybe it’s just my assumption…. I hope you can find peace in your mind, heart, soul. hi! i can see why it would be perceived as such but i'm not sure thats how i feel. and i really sat on your comment and tried to figure out how it made me feel. i don't feel broken and i don't think the things around me are. i think it comes from a place of deep reflection and being on a search for what brings me joy. i feel like i'm in an ever evolution, not in a state of trying to fix a problem. i too hope that everyone can be happy with themselves in order to live an authentic life but i think that comes with that inner reflection and work that i often speak about in my videos. we are all always in flux! i think right now i'm in a transitional phase which always brings more questions than answers

loved this and your reflections on the space. Have felt overwhelmed whenever I’ve tried to work on my own (especially with roommates). Sometimes I remind myself that I often find the most beauty in design in it’s natural function. It only later becomes clear to me the joy of the quirks of a space :)
