Timing makes such a difference in the experience of reading a book!!! I wholeheartedly believe that it can make or break a reading experience! Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow wasn't for me either. I did finish it but just felt very blah about it. Oh I'm so glad the solo writing retreat video got you inspired! You should definitely try it - for me, I'd been wonderful, I highly recommend

Hi Cat, thanks for watching! I'm so glad I'm not alone in my "blah" feeling about Tomorrowx3. Your solo writing retreat video was very inspiring! It's definitely on my mind.

You're such a seasonal reader 😄 I definitely think certain books fit certain times, problem is it is raining 80% of the time here.

lol...I am and I know! In my current neck of the woods it's Summer 75% of the time. The Great Alone inspired me to read more "cold" and winter books in the summer.

@@books_and_bocadillos Sounds great, Northern Exposure is one of my favourite ever tv shows and that is about a remote alaska town.

Hope you got a lot of good rest from the on call session! 🧡 Salads are superior in the summer!! I think it's fine that you rated it lower. It you're opinion on the book and its valid 🥰 Sometimes, books just don't hit right during for us! But I also agree, timing is a big thing for enjoyment for books. Whatever we're in the mood for. I have Kristin Hannah's book The Women, and I can't wait to read it! Especially now that you talked about how much you enjoyed her writing. I think I'll have to add Leesa Cross-Smith onto my author list since you enjoy it so much 👀 Though I'm someone who actually likes to read without music so maybe it wouldn't work 😂 Personally for me... I read Tomorrow/Tomorrow/Tomorrow... and I loved it but I didn't like the author Zevin. I am going to talk about it in the next coming video... but long story short. Zevin wrote a lot about themes of women not getting recognition/credit, generally overshadowed by men. But then Zevin didn't credit Brenda Romero's game that Zevin used as inspiration. Though Zevin was fine crediting a multitude of other games in the back. Made me so mad 🙃Ended up rating it 2 ⭐ Am I petty that I was glad you DNF'd it? 😅

From Leesa Cross Smith, I loved Whiskey and Ribbons. I want to read Half Blown Rose next...if you want to buddy read Half Blown Rose with me...I would love to buddy read with you. I watched your video about your very well articulated feelings about the lack of crediting women on the part of Zevin. I didn't know that and now that I do, I'm glad I DNFd.

The gymnastics of holding the box 😂😂😂 Meanwhile: "a song" haha I totally get that. You're allowed to be critical! That's a form of selfcare as well, I think, giving yourself permission to think and feel what you think and feel, and expressing that. In a respectful way of course, but we're allowed to express our opinions, likes and dislikes. I just watched someone else talk about how amazing Tomorrowx3 was (like so many others have said) and I'm just on the fence about it, it never sounded like something I would like, and then I think well maybe, everyone says it's so good... I'm so confused. I just found My sister the serial killer second hand the other day! Can't wait to read it! Hope you enjoy! Oh, and I loved Cat's writing retreat as well! I would love to see your version as well, if you're up for bringing a camera with you :)

100%! It is self-care and it's also authenticity...If you give Tomorrowx3 a chance, I'd be interested to hear YOUR thoughts.

@@books_and_bocadillos Yeah, true! I love hearing criticism as well, it feels like a bit of gossip but more harmless, if that makes sense. It scratches that itch without the negatives of gossiping about people. Gossip about characters is ok 😆 (I know the author is a person, but the book is not, you know what I mean!) Maybe I’ll try Tx3 some time. I’m in no rush though, but if I do I’ll let you know ^^ I would love to see a vlog from you, I’m sure you could do it if you tried. You could do what you do know and just sit and talk, and then put in some clips of where you are in between, that’s all you need 😊

@@ellenmadebookclub Yes, I think I do know what you mean. For me, sometimes I'm MORE curious to read a book when someone speaks critically about it or says a book was not for them. I think it makes a book more interesting than a book that everyone loves. Thank you for the encouragement. 🫶🏽

@@books_and_bocadillos Yes, that’s true for me too sometimes! I’m just on the fence whether it’s worth finding out, or if I would rather spend my time reading something I’ll most likely enjoy. It depends what I’m in the mood for. I’ve read some pretty heavy or dark books recently, so now I’m craving something different!

I really enjoyed My Sister the Serial Killer. It was definitely unique! I have to ask what kind of editing software you were using and what you purchased. I'm using the native software on my laptop and it's....okay.
