I have been journaling all my life and I am now 74 and editing them to give to my children - quite a job! But so many things I have forgotten about along the way and at least I can keep track of my comings and goings, have moved 42 times in my life, a new statistic I just discovered !!
When you mentioned some of Van Gogh's art hadn't been in the same room since 1910, I imagined they were all catching up with each other and saying "hello"!
This was such a fun video. I've never heard of Cecily Brown, her art is so neat! Museum days are the best. I felt the same way when I finally got to see a real Dali and Picasso in person. I was so moved, it's like the painting was vibrating with energy. What an amazing experience.
I see you are putting the new couch to work! I would totally feel safe sitting on this couch. It is an essential ingredient to your much needed focus. Journaling also creates safety. You are in a safety sandwich! Couch below and journal above. You are all set, my dear 💌
Thank you Fran for taking us along with you, particularly to The Met and those wonderful exhibitions!! Have always loved Cecily Brown's delicious palette. Your studio is so cozy and that couch looks super comfy. Have a great Sunday!💗
Hi, I just want to thank you for this wonderful video😊. I'm new to your channel and watched a bunch of videos over the last weeks 😅 sry for that! But you are such an Inspiration, so I just want to watch it all day 😊 thank you for hanging around with us and letting us be a part of your world!
This comment is not meant as an offense, it’s a compliment XO Your videos like this are my fav to relax and fall asleep to. You’re so calming, especially your painting content. It’s chefs kiss❤
Your place is so big !!! You are so lucky ! Can I ask you how much do you pay each month in Brookline for such a big place ? It is a dream for me to live as a graphic designer in US. I am in Paris but I want to start a new life..
I've seen a bunch of these Van Goghs in person (the first one most recently!) and it makes me so excited to think of other people seeing them across the globe too. It's like the sisterhood of the travelling Van Goghs or something.
Ahaa I was trying to figure out what was different about your face for the first minute, then you mentioned your glasses! It's so funny how different a person looks with out without them.
I have been relearning Spanish and you're right, it is SUCH a vulnerable thing to learn a language, especially since I feel bad for forgetting it in the first place, but that's a 'me problem'! I forget whether you have ever mentioned if you enjoy tarot (but you give off the vibe that you do 😊), but I thought I would recommend maybe using those cards for journalling prompts. It's something I do on occasion and really enjoy!
🌈💕 y feliz pride 💖
Oh I love this. I have been journaling for years and also keep an illustrated journal. It's so special to have memories kept in this way and I aim to have a dedicated journaling practice. Thanks for such generous videos Fran. I've been following your work for years and have been so inspired by what you do. I want to get back to pursuing art professionally after a long break and need to carve out the time amidst other life commitments to make it happen. I always feel so inspired after watching your videos and following your journey. Immensely grateful xx
I also use a penac eraser, I really love them and the fact they are PVC free. And the museum tour was amazing, I love Van Gough too and even seeing his paintings through a video, they make me so happy. Journaling is helping so much and it's really like you said, having a conversation with oneself and slowing down the thoughts. thanks for the video :)
Fran! Thank you for making this video! It is always so nice to see you online! I miss being a part of the Patreon group. I am looking forward to joining again. I have missed you! I don't know you in person, only online, so there IS that feeling like I "know" you well.......... I have felt influenced by what you share and am very appreciative. I hope you are well. Have you had your thyroid checked? So smotherly, yes? I say it as I would say to myself. Your paintings are looking good Fran! Love all that you do! Cheers to many nice days ahead. A billion heartfelt Thank you's in all of the languages!
Thank YOU for letting me go along and try out those materials (I have the black eraser, dust catch by Mono, hehe), walk in the museum and sit quietly during the journaling sessions :) love it all! thank you!
Thank you for mentioning the thing about having a hard time with remembering names in books! I never really hear people talk about it and it has always made me feel like i will never be good with reading. It was just nice to hear from someone who clearly enjoys reading! I never got much into reading as a child and now as an adult i am trying to read more and i started realizing how i would get very caught up on names in books. Like if it is a name i have not seen before and also don't understand how to pronounce it, then i get caught up every time i get to that point in the book and it starts to pull me out of the story. My mom reads a lot and she says that she just kinda makes up a pronunciation and goes with it and it doesn't bother her to have words she doesn't know.. so i'm hoping i can figure out how to get past this and not let myself get pulled out of stories because of this. It's also prevented me from learning things like botany which i have such a huge interest in. But the scientific names are just like jumbles of letters in my mind and i feel unable to remember them! Anyways i just wanted to mention how much it meant to me to hear someone else struggle with the same thing!
You use my favorite borage oil hand cream and you're reading Ursula Le Guin. I've never felt closer to you, Fran. :D In any case, every one of these gorgeous little films is such a treat. Thank you for bringing us along. x PS. I really love the energy the sofa/couch has brought to your studio.
I love your hair Fran !! 💖 and thank you for bringing us so close to the paintings :00 there’s nothing quite like seeing the light reflect off of each paint stroke, esp since Van Gogh used such thick layers of paint 💖
Love your videos, especially love your honesty about some of your struggles. I'm a 76 yr young artist and used to be a daily journal writer. So I'm adopting your 3 times a week journaling as it's getting harder to do daily. Thank you SO much for being such an inspiration !
I know what you mean about feeling safe in your studio…we turned a spare room in our house into my studio and I am in there for hours…my husband even plumbed in a sink for me…but your cleaning made me feel bad! Mine is well over due 😂 it’s so nice to have a room that I can leave how I want and shut the door on at the end of the day…❤
What perfect timing, I am visiting NYC for the next few days and was thinking “I wonder what fun spots Fran might recommend?” - Goods for the Study is a favorite of mine too!
I read “art -> repeat” on the thumbnail and I also found it difficult for me to follow some pages in order in “About to Leave” a couple years ago when it was so graciously gifted to me. I would read a page and the mid page I’d realized I’d missed something so I’d have to figure out what the correct order of things were. Ithink we as artists can all work on guiding the viewers eye in a more direct way and take into consideration high contrast and closeness of things to know how a stranger reads something versus the artists intent. I love your videos and your style and voice and authenticity, this was just something super tiny I noticed that I have to work on as well.
I’m reading the left hand of darkness right now too!! Honestly such a beautifully written book - I love the inclusion of chapters in the style of folk tales as well as the exploration of gender and sexuality throughout the whole book. It’s so well done and I hope you are enjoying it!!
I couldn't help but notice the Portugal book you had on your desk, maybe because it's my country! 😅 Anyways, I really enjoyed this video, thanks so much Fran 😘
So nice to hear your laugh again! Love you videos! Really wish my retirement would look like your working life. Drawing, art seeing, and looking cute ❤
Hi. Fran, you are lots quieter Fran? How come? Whats really wrong. Fran at least you are going out more and doing stuff... who is that filming you? You do not seem to be as interested in Your Art Creating. You Seem Quieter and Happier. Have a good week. Good video update this...
