I love that you touched on motivation/discipline. I think it is a misconception that those of us who exercise regularly always feel like doing it, we don't. I heard years ago someone say that we spend so much time praying for discipline, when we should instead just get up most days and do the thing we are avoiding and the discipline will come. It has been so true for me. However, grace is always so important because every week all your workouts might not happen, but you can get right back to it the next week. Sometimes sleep is absolutely more important than getting a workout in, you know your own body and what you need to feel your best.

LOVE your fitness videos! Asking a lot but a week of eating for video idea. Or going over your thoughts on diastasis recti separation from pregnancy (is surgery needed, are there side effects from the separation, how often you should work on it, exercises to stay away from etc)

I'm. Excited for these videos! I just started working out for the first time really ever in my life. Didn't grow up in a "work out" family. Thought it was for weird health nuts. Lol I want my family to see fitness as a normal thing we do. Week 2 into joining a boot camp type gym and I am loving it!! I've been going to the 5am classes and feeling good. Sore but good!! ❤❤

Life has seasons. When I was in my twenties while raising two kiddos I was so disciplined with diet and exercise. Then my thirties came and two more kiddos came and they were my focus. Two oldest are out and grown and I homeschool my other two now that I’m in my mid 40’s my total health over all is important. Honestly though I find that it has been hard to prioritize fitness in my current season of life. I’m in beginning stages of creating a farm business while homeschooling so my goal is to be as active as much as possible without adding more stress. Giving it all with grace! Thank you Ashley for always inspiring no matter what season of life you’re in! ❤️ Many blessings, Linda

Watching this during my 20 min incline walk on my treadmill, in which I went to the gym to get my leg day done then had to take my oldest to a quartet practice he has, then back home for my 20 minute cardio. I feel you when you talk about busy homeschool days and working out when you’re able and doing what needs to be done with the time you have. Plus family dinner time! It has been few and far between in this season, but it makes me extra grateful the evenings we have them. The kids get older, obligations change, work schedules complicate things, but we get it done! Love these videos. Also, my No Bull birthday shoes in a couple of days! Woohoo!

@@GraceandGrit Good timing! I just got back from my run. It has been COLD (19 during the day) here in AR. We even had 2 inches of snow. Stayed on the roads in our neighborhood for a week. Then the rain moved in! Finally this afternoon, the sun came out, and it's in the 60's!

Thank you for a realistic look at this!! I’m new to trying to fit working out into my days and I’m a homeschool mama who also works, too, so it’s been tough. I really appreciate seeing how you fit it in, adjust, have grace, and also AMEN about these twenty year olds out here not sweating and wearing make up. 😂 Really love this content!! Something I’m struggling with is try to calculate how much protein I need vs carbs and fat. I’m using my fitness pal but it takes my calories way down. Anyway, if you have any tips for that-I’d appreciate it!! ❤

Thank you for sharing the reality of LIFE doing what it does and throwing our plans down the drain. I love your ability to pivot and have grace for yourself while still doing what you can do. Juggling homeschooling, kids sports, church commitments, home maintenance and so much more feels like an insane puzzle each week on where workouts fit… but where there is a will there is a way! Loved seeing this! I have consistently worked out for 23 years now and I truly love it like you. I do it all at home so it’s all my kids have ever known and my 13 year old daughter is now where she can lift weights and has started doing that several days a week. It truly matters what we model. I love the authenticity of life happening too. It’s discipline many days over motivation even though I do love it most of the time. Love seeing other women crushing their workouts and I always like the trainers who push me as well! 💚

What/who do you use for your home workouts? I struggle with some of the peloton teachers… Would love some suggestions for weights; I love my treadmill but my 41 year old body should be doing weights 🫠

@@momoflittleladies hi there! I actually use BODi (used to be Beachbody). I have never been a coach or sold it or did any of that as I don’t have a desire, but I do enjoy the workouts. I started their newest program this month called Dig Deeper that is strength training focused. But they have several programs that don’t require as much and I have loved too. Megan Davies program, Sure Thing, on BODi was what I did a few rounds of before this. I have heard great things about Caroline Girvan too here on RU-vid that I believe are free. That might be a great place to start and consistency will be the key. Good luck and hope this helps! Ashlee is a wonderful example for consistency in fitness! 💚

Your old old work out videos is how I found your channel while also just starting a totally lifestyle change and getting healthy and then started homeschool two years later so I’m an OLD follower lol. I started working out in my early 20s, but in the last couple of years I have been super unmotivated. I'm in my early 40s so I know body changes are happening but working out is so good ... Btw, I like that you kept it real!

My biggest hindrance is the getting ready for the day, then having to workout and get ready again - I overthink that part and hate taking multiple showers.

My workouts got derailed this week when I got sick. Feeling better now but it was so disappointing that I couldn't workout! I usually workout early in the a.m. so I get not having a good night's sleep then hoping to get up early to workout.

Thank you for this! by any chance could you share managing weight gain when constantly pregnant and nursing? As well as nutrition and exercise while pregnant and nursing.

I don’t recommend trying to diet in anyway while pregnant. Skipping sugar and eating enough protein and fruits and vegetables is what I would focus on during pregnancy and nursing. Pregnancy is also not a time to begin exercising. Safe to do if you’ve been doing it but we shouldn’t take up exercise for the first time during pregnancy. Walking and stretching is always beneficial though.

Love the transparency. I learned early on that I had to work out in the morning before my brain would try to talk me out of it. The further into the day the less disciplined I am 😅 so working out, chores and homeschool come first and the rest of the day is questionable lol

Where to start with working out for a mom of 4 boys, about 40 months post partum from my last 😂. I was a dancer, very toned and fit through childhood and college. I never really did any weights or anything non-dance related. Done having babies, and needing to lose my mommy pooch and about 10lbs. I need to just move my body again. Other than walking, what do you recommend?

Hey! There’s a RU-vid channel called “grow with Jo”.. she does mix of dance/strength training with body weight or small weights in her videos. There are hundreds of videos to pick from. My kids and I have a blast doing them!
