Hi Grant, absolutely love your videos (always make me very envious though as you fish in such amazing conditions and a beautiful part of the world!) I have finally made the jump from my 9"6 lure rod and just purchased one of your 12" Long Cast rods to use from the rocks and surf up here in Cumbria UK. Could i ask what strength braid and leader you use please? Thanks
Hi Stephen, for bass I generally use around 20lb braid. If your casting heavier lures I double the first 4 meters by using a bimini twist and avoids snap offs! Fluro leader depends on the mark. Anything from 25lb and upwards for extremely rocky wavey conditions!
@lurefishingfromtheshore-gr8270 Hi Grant, thanks very much for the reply, that's really useful and helpful. My Longcast arrived earlier this week, I've got to say... what an amazing quality rod this is, beautiful! Can't wait to get out with this, got high hopes. Thanks again!!
I'm new to your channel and what an amazing trove of information and instruction. I live in Cornwall and we are seeing more fish staying around over winter, was struggling to find lures an techniques to get out in the really rough stuff from the rocks, your channel has changed that,, many thanks Chris.
Great let us know how it goes. The next ones coming in will be in 30g and 35g which are more suitable in rougher conditions. We also tweaked them a bit! Thats the advantage of handmade! Good luck!
Hi Grant just came across your Video's today, really enjoyed watching them, I used to do some lure fishing and you have definitely given me the desire to get out there again, I use a Savage gear rod think its around 8ft, not sure if that would give the action needed to get those lures to perform or the length to get the distance though, those red rods used to be the ones for lure fishing back a good few years ago, will look up those samson rods.
Hi Stephen, for me rod length is vital from beaches and rocks. Casting distance is the obvious advantage but its just as much about reach which is so important for a number of reasons! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lyjMOFm9Vrk.html
Hi Grant. I grew up in the algarve and you videos bring fond memories of the sea there. Live in the UK now and usually bait fish but been getting into lures recently and just bought my first samson enticer. Looking forward to giving it a go. Thanks for the tutorials :) Boa pesca !
For anyone else that 1st fish is a good size.. I'm so envious. Some of the bass you've caught and from the shore is unreal also what size rod is that. Isit 11 ft.
Hi Grant Great filming man…have you had any success with the lures at home in the UK? I lure fish in the south west of Ireland,in Brandon bay, would the shad be good to use there do you think?
thanks John, I am from the UK, but home for me is Switzerland. I go down to Portugal as I used to live there and go to visit my mum who is living there. The Shad is an awesome lure. We have lots of fishermen having good success in the UK using Samson lures , I dont have the possibility of fishing in the UK at the moment myself, but plan to get over to Ireland in the next few years to fish! Hows the fishing where you are?
@@lurefishingfromtheshore-gr8270 I have only been lure fishing for over a year Grant I have been bait fishing for Bass for many years but as I am over 60 it’s getting more difficult to dig fresh bait!!so I decided to take up Lure fishing I live 70 miles from the sea so dont get fishing very regularly, hopefully will do when I retire 👍👍🎣🎣 I have a few Samson lures but no luck so far, except for a Gull who dived and soared away with my a Sammy surface lure🤣🤣 It’s great that you can go to see your mum and get some great fishing as well Do the Sammy lures work better in a big surf, Keep up the videos, really enjoy them Your very welcome to come fishing to Brandon bay,I can show you a few good spots!!
@@johnharty9409 thanks John, I do hope to get over before too long. Samson lures are very effective in surf or from the rocks as you need to cover distance and this is where the bass feed. cheers
Hi Grant. What Samson lure would you recommend to use in Ria Formosa (Faro), at the breakwater of Farol island. Usually the water is calm/flat with alot of current. Thanks!
Hi Pedro, I would use a 15g Shad. Ive caught well in calm water. Has a very erratic action and the 15g is just 6.2 cm long so you can catch small or large fish on it. Best of luck
Hi mate, How do you work the tweak baits, is is as name suggests little tweaks on the rod tip? Any particular speed of retrieve? I’d like to start experimenting with them. Thank you for any help.
Yes exactly, play around with the retrieves. For working lures its better to have a rod with a not too soft rod tip. Stiffer rod tips make it much easier to impart the action. Check out this video for some tips, best of luck! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iguxW0C-qwk.html
Thanks Grant. Maybe it would be good be a idea to have a Comercial office in PT to comercialize your lures… Lures tales some time to arribe and post Charges are not friendly 😄. I’l keep following your Chanel… love it and it is inspiring for me. Cheers
