Too bad it wasn't real. If you disbelieve and want to argue, I ask you only: first rewatch, for real. Moynihan didn't goof; quite the opposite. He's a *good actor*.
I assumed it was either scripted or a great improv’d line I felt like it was too perfect/part of the characterization to do by mistake and not miss a beat but if so even more pro level 😩❤️
the conflation of the 1980s mcdonald's "hopscotch" commercial with "we didn't start the fire" was both hilarious and brilliant, and so perfect for a gen-x drunk uncle.😂😂😂
Wow, didn’t realize how much I missed Bobby until now. When he called Colin Seth I had to pause the video because I laughed so hard and didn’t want to miss the rest lol
3:18 - He's partially reciting the 1988 McDonald's contest that came on a small, squared shaped, paper-thin, flexi-disc record where if the singers finished the entire menu jingle without screwing up, you'd win a million dollars. My older brother had one of the "screw up" records.
Incredible. Totally did not know this. Since the mid-90s I recognized this as a deep cut from Skee-Lo (of “I Wish” fame). Go listen to Skee-Lo- The Burger Song. Thought that’s what Bobby was referencing and am shook too have discovered this comment 😂
Exactly! I’m glad someone remembered that contest! In the 70s there was a contest where if you could sing a Big Mac’s ingredients backwards you’d win some kind of prize. To this day I can do it 😂
@@LeshaAnn - It goes without saying (or so I thought): John Belushi -- in particular, his memorable Update rants. I can't recall anything his brother did on the show.
I really enjoy that Bobby went on from SNL to quietly become a very entertaining and family friendly voice actor for millions of children, and never lost a single step along the way. I believe he’s still got _huge_ things ahead of him.
It was a brilliant moment. I only wish Colin were in the shot so we could see his reaction. The in-studio audience gets a difference experience because they see it all.
I think Bobby legit didn’t notice that he called Colin Seth, he was just in the moment, but it worked with the character. He’s a modern day Daniel Day Lewis
There's a 0% chance it was an accident. It's not the first time that joke has been made. In earlier segments he's called Seth "Amy." and other Weekend Update characters have done the same joke over the years.
I need to hug Bobby Moynihan and hang on tight! Tears in my eyes, lump in my throat, and laffin so hard I can't breathe. I'm sorry I had no idea who he was, until this skit. OMG 🤣 So hoping this become a regular weekend update character, along with Sarah Sherman. Beyond amazing!
You are making me feel really old right now 😂. This *was* a recurring character for years. If only there was a thing that allowed you to watch past shows....
"All Hallows' Steve" deserved a bigger laugh. Drunk Uncle is such a chaotically brilliant bit. I wish more of it were a two-shot so we could see Colin's reactions.
I just saw Bobby on Seth Meyer's Show a Month ago, always Liked anything he does, but especially Drunk Uncle- after watching him with Seth, I re-watched the Drunk Uncle Compilation (again!) - So Cool Bobby came back to give us all another Drunk Uncle Segment
Hearing Bobby as Drunk Uncle again makes me miss the Ducktales reboot cartoon. Shame Disney keeps cancelling great shows after just 2 or 3 Seasons these days.
DuckTales wasn't canceled, it ended. There's a difference. Most Disney shows get a three-season contract very rarely do they extend to four and even less for five. So they usually plan for three seasons and end in three seasons which is what DuckTales did. It wasn't canceled
This is exactly what happened to the Viral Video Show called 'Right This Minute'* that Disney canceled instantly with no known reason as to why They took it off the air. I do remember seeing former Case Mates on it's final show reminiscing about Their time there, and former Cast Mate Stephen Fabian (now seen on 'Inside Edition'*) said that 'He felt like the Rug got pulled out from under Them' when Disney ended R.T.M.* in a matter of just a few days. It seems to fit Their M.O. of doing things nowadays when They take successful shows off the air.
I also loved him on We Bare Bears, where he voiced Pan-Pan. He honestly made me tear up a bit between both shows with his shockingly phenomenal voice acting🐼💚
The masterful way that SNL out of nowhere had Tom Hanks introduce the musical guest, only for in the next segment had Bobby Moynihan pop up as his Drunk Uncle character on Weekend Update was such a wink to the fans foreshadowing that there was about to be the return of David S. Pumpkins in this episode. So well done!
I literally could watch just Bobby and Collin. He totally killed it with this drunk uncle sketch! I do wonder though if he called Collin “Seth” on purpose or just a hilarious accident.
When both Tom Hanks and Bobby Moynihan appeared in separate sketches, social media immediately began speculating the return of David S. Pumpkins. They were not disappointed.
Even though I read the comments before watching, and therefore already knew that the "Seth" was coming, it still made me laugh out loud! Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
The Return of the Drunk Uncle made my night. "When I was a kid we were shoeshine chimney sweeps extra extra paper boys." Having Tom Hanks on as David S Pumpkins was a nice surprise, too.
That impression was too real!!!.... Musta done a lot of 'research' before playing that part. I also have the feeling that more than a little alcohol what involved ha! Cheers!
I could see it being tough to replicate. It must be tricky to find the right balance between drunk ramblings and actual pop culture references that are usually slightly incorrect lol.
How awesome to have Bobby Moynihan come back to do Drunk Uncle on SNL?? Talk about a Halloween treat!! He was always awesome on the show and always one of my favorites… And of course, Colin Jost can’t help but have a good time during the whole thing 😂😂😂😂😂
Some of my all time favorite sketches are the Holiday Candy ones(Easter w Michael Keaton is the best) with Bobby. They are so stupidly silly. 😊 Oh, and of course the kitty on Mars sketch. Basically I miss Bobby so much. And Drunk Uncle 😅
