So funny how people know of cicadas and want more!!!! One upping is the best humor type!!!! But it wouldn't work because no one in the rest of the country and world had heard of the cicada issue, and that would've ruined it for 95% of viewers like me. Leave the comedy to the professionals.

That's definitely what they used for the hat. And it looks like a high school one, because I can imagine high schoolers decorating their grad caps with crazy stuff on it. Not that college kids don't do it, either, but most colleges pride themselves in having dignified graduation ceremonies. If it were a junior college, then I can see it.

An earthquake is not out of the realm of possibility. Recent studies have indicated a higher possibility of earthquakes as the full or new moon are directly overhead, due to gravitational forces. Now you have Sun and Moon gravitational force in conjunction, over New Madrid mo. On April 8th. New moon 1:21 C.D.T. On April 8th. Totality of eclipse 1:56 C.D.T. Over poplar Bluff Mo. . Weirdly enough Devil coment was present during great 1811 earthquake. So the timeline is interesting. A phenomenon which is generally not realized is that the air and solid landmasses also move up and down due to tidal forces.although the movement is much less in the land than in the sea.. it can amount to a meter of vertical shift. @@DJ-Eye You're spot-on. I am a teenager, or at least was on Oct. 11, 1975 - the airing of the first SNL (with George Carlin as host), which I watched. Fun fact - I didn't remember who else was on that show, but it turns out that Janis Ian was a musical guest, and I'd met her (very briefly) years before that show, when I was around 10. So now that we've established that I'm (at my core) young and otherwise immature, what's a sober fellow like you watching the show for? Surely you should be perusing the NPR channel, no?

If there are grains of wheat among the chaff, some of that may be due to my love of MPFC, absurdist humor is among my main influences (read: coping mechanisms). And similar to Python, many of SNL's writers came from renowned colleges working at their craft in front of fellow students. There's cleverness among the dung, sometimes you just need to ignore the smell...

@@davidg3944 We may have an excess of chaff in common, alas. I grew up with MPFC and the slighly more 'establishment' Two Ronnies - they do hold a special place in my heart. On a nostalgia note, The Brittas Empire is worth a watch if ever looking for a wealth of the obsurd.

IIRC in an interview (on Seth Meyers maybe?) he talked about practicing facial expressions in the mirror when he first got into comedy. He's an SNL Great in the making!
