Weekend Update: Michelangelo's David Defends Art - SNL 

"......I'll tell you when it's art again". That joke was underrated.

The stone scratching sound effects combined with Michael's screams of pain were great! 🤣

While these parents are busy protesting books and pictures of sculptures, their kids are probably watching phub

That opening bit with the rock grinding and screaming as David turns his head.... that was so well done. Such a simple thing, yet so effective. They nailed it.

This dude kills it EVERY SINGLE TIME. There is something about his delivery that I love

I was in 6th grade in a Tampa, Florida public school in about 1956. We studied Classic Art for about a week or two, then our teacher took us on a Field Trip to the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. We enjoyed the Artworks there, and we certainly were not taken aback or frightened when we saw the replica of the Statue of David in the garden. We 6th graders just looked at it as Art. What has happened to Florida? Has it become some kind of "backwoods" place where they don't even have the common sense of 6th graders?

“Do you wanna see it from below?” had me wheezing. He delivered that line so earnestly! Both Michael’s killing it here😂

The head turning gag was so stupid lol I loved it 😂

When my kids were in elementary school their Dad and Step Mom took them to Europe on spring break. My son came back and told me all about David. We never once considered it obscene or pornographic. I’m happy they were able to experience art in person.

For over 500 years no one thought of this statue as “pornography”. Even through the prudish Victorian era, no one was bothered … no one. Our society is moving backwards.

Michael Longfellow is such a refreshing natural talent cast member. I would have loved to be there when they pre wrote this particular scene and when someone mentioned: “how funny would it be if we asked David if he could actually turn his head?”. So creative & well written. Bravo! 😅

Farley's passionate speaking in the guise of a realistic burnt out Mall Santa, Classroom visits wearing out-dated clothes, or jumping out of closets in a Family's home in a useless way to teach kids drilling in them to study harder and stop causing trouble, i.e.: randomly throwing eggs at houses and to stop impish pranks like putting flaming Dog Poop Bags on people's porch after ringing their doorbell and running away, laughing. Without spoiling it, hopefully viewers can view the comic masterpiece Lorne Michaels has panned out for decades. It was so popular, the Matt Foley skit might have been made into a movie had Farley not died so young. RIP Chris Farley & Phil Hartman who is also in the skit! That being said, Michelangelo's David is on view at the Accademia Museum in Florence.

I taught art to kids in a private school for 30 years. I had to cover the goods on all naked artworks of historical importance, as decreed by the administration. So I used stickers. The kids were totally more intrigued in exploring art after that...

Standards and Practices must have a lot of fun with this one!

I took an art history class, in college, & the professor was very passionate about anything he presented to us, it actually made it more interesting. He showed us David &, while being a little sheepish, pointed out that David's testicles were hanging low, meaning he was "ready for battle."

This was hilarious! One of the best SNL shows this season

I went on a small tour of the Vatican. Just our family and one other- a mom, a dad and two boys around 11 and 13. They were from Tennessee and were all wearing Jesus shirts. They were absolutely HORRIFIED by the nudity in the Vatican. I was horrified that they traveled all the way to Italy and had no concept of Renaissance art.
