as someone who struggles with mental illness, i find making jokes about it is really therapeutic for me and keeps me honest about about is really going on. i really respect him for not trying to hide it.

I keep coming back to this "Pete on Weekend Update." I struggle with mental illness too and I love people who've been there and can make those darkly humorous jokes (or whatever you want to label them) without seeming like a jerk. I love Pete's unflinching honesty. My mom thinks I'm ridiculous for laughing at stuff like this or other ironic "crazy people humor." I used to carry a heart shaped keychain that had a photo of a 20 mg prozac. I thought it was hilarious (been on prozac for years); my mom was like "WHY IS THIS FUNNY??" Maybe you have to be a little crazy to appreciate it 🤷‍♀️

That part where Pete says "I gotta PRETEND like I care about this guy" had me dying. Like 🤣💀
