I got back into comics about 6 months ago.. id still be lost if not for this channel... this weekly show and the best of the month shows are must watch.
I like the wolverine coming out rn. The first 2 issues have me hooked for a bit atleast, I just ordered the first book of percys run so depending on how much I like that I also have nothing other than ultimate Spider-Man
Another great Weekly Comic Book Review episode, Robbie. As sometimes happens, the PickOfTheWeek not on the original pull list this week but added for the LCS visit later today. Thanks again, Robbie.
Speaking Marvel, I'm still in on Hulk, and Thor, as well as the Ultimates and Ultimate Spidey. Thor is the best Marvel book going, Al Ewing nailing classic Thor/Norse Asgardian lore.
Those of us who’ve been collecting comics for several decades may recall when Action Comics went weekly, one issue after the book’s 50th anniversary (#600). For 42 issues, Action was $1.50 when every other comic was 75 cents, and Superman only appeared in the center spread in what amounted to a Sunday comics page. Dont know how well it sold, and it had some classic covers but it’s not a run that has stood the test of time (history has really ignored it). At least it’s only $5 a week and not something like $10. (The old Action Weekly was 64 pages for double the price.)
Isn't Action ending the weekly thing in a couple of weeks? I dig Action, but my pull list don't need an extra book every week. DC killing it lately, and this from an old school Marvel guy.
I’m one of those weirdos that doesn’t even collect Action or Superman, but I hope they do weekly until it catches and surpasses Detective. Action is the granddaddy and should have the highest legacy numbering lol
Great reviews, glad you covered so much Image. I can agree though, marvel has been messing up. I wont even buy a red band anymore after two issues i got with no cussing and hardly any violence
Marvel is absolutely floundering. They have been for years now. I'd say aside from a few exceptions, (Immortal Hulk, Krakoa, New Ultimate Universe North FF, etc.) the C.B. Cebulski era of Marvel has been extremely middling and focused on nostalgia pandering, greatest hits, and familiarity, and less on innovation and creativity. With the announcement of Spider-Verse vs Venomverse at NYCC, we can see where their ideas lie. One World Under Doom is a step in the right direction and sounds awesome, but I don't know if it's enough.
Love what DC has been doing lately, but you definitely seem a little more critical of Marvel stuff then you do DC or Independents. There have been some Marvel comics I think might have made Pick of the Week if they were DC or Image.
I like the idea of a new wonder woman origin... however I don't like the design of her horse... I was thinking it will be more like LOTR ring wraith's horse 😂🤣
Regarding Marvel; then why are you not reading Incredible Hulk this week? This features a strong artistic team. And I thought you liked Spider-Boy as well? While I value a critical examination of marvel's output, and the inconsistency of some of it's titles etc. I do feel that many people simply enjoy bashing on Marvel and certain points of view. Moreso, than on titles from other publishers. Or champion titles whose redeeming quality is a lower cover price with a thick card stock cover and little else.
Yeah Robbie I really don't know about that teenage mutant Ninja turtles and their new run... It feels so far from source material that I don't even want to bother with it... I hate the fact that the turtles are not ninjas hiding in the sewer anymore... After the mutant Town ark I dropped off.. came back in their relaunch to find out that still not back to source material... Come on man Michelangelo's a movie star ?? give me a break.
Decided to "micro" dose this morn...it DEF wasnt a micro dose lol. Currently reading comics to remain sane lol, ty for the reviews big homie! dropped 90 on the 3 absolute variants from Skottie young!
